For many animal shelter workers, taking care of pets isn’t just a job, it’s their calling.
A worker at the Conway Area Humane Society in New Hampshire is proving just that.
A 5-year-old hound mix named Prissy was abandoned in a junkyard with her three puppies, until the society took her in. Virginia Moore, the director at Conway, explains that Prissy had to undergo surgery to be strayed, but following surgery, like most dogs, Prissy seemed to be having a tough time.
That night, Moore went to Prissy’s kennel to check on her and what she found was the kennel supervisor Chrissy Ireland cuddling Prissy on the ground. Moore tells ABC News that Chrissy didn’t want her to wake up alone. So Chrissy laid down in the cage and cuddled Prissy to ease her fears.
Ireland says she had no idea that her co-worker Debra Cameron would catch her in a now-viral Facebook video. She says she was just doing her job.
“I saw [Prissy] and she was all shaky and she didn’t feel good,” Ireland recalled. “It made me feel so sad for her. So I just found myself laying on the floor with her and kissing her and loving her.”
