Forgiveness is hard but the only way we can be at peace within ourselves is if we forgive others and let go of the pain that they caused us.

It hurts tremendously when someone hurts or betrays us, and while in the beginning we can never imagine forgiving them, over time we must, not for them, but for ourselves.

1. Accept that this person has hurt you

No matter how bad this person has hurt you, feel it, accept it, and move on. There is no time period for how long after you should move past the pain and negative emotions, because it differs for everyone, but just accept what has happened, and know that you will move past it, and get over it.

2. Accept that noone is perfect 

People are not perfect, and everyone makes mistakes. As much as this person may or may not realize how much they have hurt you, it unfortunately cannot be taken back, and neither can the pain that you experienced. Just know that whatever this person did to you was no reflection of you, rather of themselves, and their own internal issues and battles.

3. Feel sympathy towards the person that hurt you

All you can do when someone hurts you is feel sorry for them, and not for yourself. Yes, it was sad, upsetting and difficult what they put you through, but again, their mistake was strictly a reflection of them, and their internal problems, so feel sympathetic towards them.

4. Forgive them for yourself 

You know that the only person that holding a grudge hurts is you. Holding anger or a grudge towards someone can literally make you feel ill, and it is not healthy for you. You forgiving this person is for noone other than yourself.

5. Send love to those that hurt

Those people that hurt you need love more than anything else, because you know that that person must be going through a lot to do what they did to you- so send love their way. Rise above all the nonsense, and only send positive out into the universe and to others.

6. Know that time will heal all

Cliche, but very true. Time is the magic potion, and time truly heals all. When you get a cut, it may look pretty bad in the beginning, but over time it heals completely, and your heart is the same. While you may never forget the pain that someone has caused you, you can definitely forgive, and remember that everyone has their own struggles in life, and as hard as it is to not take it personally- you really can’t.

7. Focus on you

Focusing on you is going to be replayed time and time again, especially on LifeDaily, because it is one of the most important principals that we should follow. Focus on your life, your school or your work, and your passions and interests. Focus on things that make you happy, and focus on making yourself better. Everyday.
