With so much hatred, heartbreak, and negativity flooding the news, it can always help to take a little break and look at all the good surrounding our world.
As you can see in this sweet story about police officers stopping to play with a young homeless girl, cops are far from the “bad guys” they work so hard to stop and that the media makes them out to be. The following story from the Rome Police Department, posted to Facebook on Questura di Roma, proves this once again, after four police officers arrived to what they thought would be a grisly scene.
Neighbors called police on 84-year-old Jole and her 94-year-old husband Michele after hearing cries from their tiny apartment. When police arrived, they expected to find a family in the midst of a domestic disturbance, but instead found the older couple watching TV.
“There is not a crime. Jole and Michele are not victims of scams and no thief entered the house — there is no one to save,” the police force wrote on Facebook.
The elderly couple explained that they were unaware they were so loud and had started crying because of all the terrible things they had just seen on the news.
The officers were shocked, especially when they said they had been together about 70 years, they hadn’t had a visitor in ages. That’s when one of the kind-hearted cops noticed the lack of food in their apartment and decided to cook pasta with butter for them until an ambulance came to check in on them, while the other three kept them company.
The couple said that loneliness was awful some days and all they had was the TV to keep them company… but sadly, that has let them down, too.
