When you’ve had a tiny human growing inside your body for nearly 41 weeks, you’ll try just about anything to get it out.

In the case of Kolby Fahlsing of Minneapolis, wakesurfing was one of those feeble attempts to get the little one out and into the world. It didn’t work, because as anyone who’s ever tried to induce labor naturally knows, your baby doesn’t come out when you want it to, it waits until it’s good and ready.

“People confuse wakesurfing with wakeboarding or water-skiing or tubing,” Kolby explained to ABC News. “With wakeboarding you’re going maybe going 25 miles an hour. And wakesurfing you’re going 9 or 10. And it’s behind a wakesurf boat. It’s specially designed to wakesurf. People might not understand that we’re being very safe and you’re going pretty slow and it’s low-impact. If I were to fall, it would be like jumping into the pool.”

Despite Mom’s clear knowledge of wakesurfing and water sports, the internet still took the opportunity to jump on her about putting her child in harms way.

However, Kolby assured Channel 6 News that she cleared it with her doctor first stating, “we talked a few times about how to be safe while doing it. He knows me and my stresses so he knew it was good for my stress level and my body.”

While the wakesurfing certainly didn’t induce labor, it did look like a blast. The new Mom delivered a healthy baby a week after the wakesurfing.

So there you have it, folks. Mom and baby were certainly not in any kind of danger. But if you still have a thought on the subject, we’d love to hear that opinion in the comments.

And don’t forget to SHARE with an extreme sports Mama in your own life!
