Every parent with small children will know how sensitive their delicate skin can be to chemicals and scents used in shampoos, wipes, and moisturizers, which is why many parents stick to the same products after finding ones that work well.
For months, UK mom Beccie Saxon had been using Aldi’s Mamia baby wipes on her 9-month-old daughter Gracie, and for months they were great at cleaning and soothing her sensitive skin. However, she was furious after a new pack caused baby Gracie to break out in a painful rash.
“Warning to all mums that buy these wipes,” Beccie wrote in a post to Facebook, which has been shared nearly 11,000 times. “I bought these wipes on the 13th and as soon as I opened them I knew they smelt different. After I had used them my little girl had a major rash.”
“I didn’t connect the two straight away but after using cream it hadn’t gone and wash still really bad, the worse it’s ever been,” she explained. “I changed her wipes to the old ones and as soon as I used them the next morning the rash had gone!”
Beccie thought there might have been a mix up in the factory, and the wipes were really the scented version, but her partner Shaun emailed the company and found out that the manufacturer and ingredients had completely changed. “SAME packaging yet different suppliers and different ingredients! How can you still have what awards they have won on the front when it’s different! I now won’t be using them again,” she said.
“I’m still angry how the packs look identical if you don’t look at the ingredients,” said Beccie, who is now sharing her experience to warn other parents about how important it is to regularly check the ingredients even if it’s a product you’ve been using for years.
