Desperate Father Brings Gun To Hospital To Keep His Son On Life Support

One father’s crime became a miracle and left many speechless.

In early 2015, a desperate father pulled his gun on hospital staffers in order to keep his son on life support, but what followed was more than just a criminal act.

According to KPRC, George Pickering III suffered a massive stroke and ended up on life support as a result. His father, George Pickering II was desperate to keep his son alive and would stop at nothing until his son made that full recovery.

“They were saying he was brain dead. He was a vegetable,” Pickering II told KPRC.

In fact, while his son was still on life support, the hospital started making arrangements with organ donation centers since the patient was a donor. His father was not okay with this.

“I knew if I had three or four hours that night that I would know whether George was brain dead. I had blinders on. All I knew I just needed to have this time with George,” Pickering III said.

SWAT officers showed up to negotiate with the desperate father, but he was eventually disarmed by his other son. In the time of the standoff, he says something strange happened. Pickering III got the sign he was searching for.

“George squeezed my hand three or four times on command,” he said and after seeing these signs, he surrendered to police.

“There was a law broken, but it was broken for all the right reasons. I’m here now because of it,” said George Pickering III months later.

“It was love. It was love. It’s the duty of a parent to protect your children and that’s all he did. Everything good that made me a man is because of that man sitting next to me.”

As far as the legalities go, Pickering had one charge against him dismissed, another lessened, and was given credit for the time he served.

The family says they are trying to put the incident behind, them but we can’t help but be shocked by the strange events.
