Memphis Police Officer Is Exposed To HIV After Being Bitten During Traffic Stop

A Memphis police officer is dealing with being exposed to HIV after he was bit by a woman during a traffic stop.

The officer in Memphis, Tennessee pulled over Daytona Smith for having an expired license plate and suspended driver’s license. The officer additionally saw that the woman had no proof of insurance and arrested her.

Upon searching Smith’s car, he found marijuana and crack-cocaine, however this is where things got weird.

The woman said she needed to use the restroom, made an effort to break free, and grappled with the officer. When the officer tackled her to the ground, she latched onto his arm with her teeth and left a significant bite mark.

Smith was taken into custody and given a medical examination as a result of scrapes and injuries from the altercation. It was at this point the woman revealed she was suffering from AIDS.

Having been exposed to HIV, the officer is undergoing a series of tests, though his condition has not been made public.
