For most couples, flowers are a vital part of their wedding, but Kathryn and Brad Ziemer decided to do without them.
Instead, this Minnesota couple replaced the flowers at their wedding with bouquets of puppies!
Being huge animal lovers, the Ziemer’s wanted to highlight the work of Secondhand Hounds, a nonprofit that rescues dogs from high-kill shelters. So instead of flowers, the couple held puppies on their wedding day at a suburban Minneapolis golf club.
Photographer Alycia Faye, captured the unique wedding, saying it was one of the coolest shoots she’s ever done. She posted the incredible wedding photos on Facebook, which included 13 puppies for each member of the bridal party.
The decision for Kathryn to pick rescue puppies over flowers was an easy one. She told Fox 9 news, “Well, first-off who doesn’t love puppies? And second, I wanted puppies specifically from Secondhand Hounds. Having puppies at the wedding was so special to me and Brad, but it was more about Secondhand Hounds! This animal rescue is incredible!”
Kathryn and Brad’s wedding party didn’t know about the puppies until they went outside for group photos and there were 13 pit bull puppies waiting for them. Everyone got a puppy, included the adorable ring bearers and beautiful flower girls.
Instead of party favors, the couple chose to make donations to SecondHand Hounds and another nonprofit. The Ziemer’s were married at Rush Creek Golf Club in Maple Grove, Minnesota on October 15.
