When an 8-year-old girl decided to play hooky from school, her mom taught her an unforgettable lesson… and ended up learning one herself!
According to reports, Malaysian cops found the little girl chained to a lamppost by her own mother in an attempt to teach her a lesson about missing school. The mortified child stood shackled to the metal post outside her family’s apartment in Kuala Lumpur.
Bystanders gawked at the young child, but were unable to free the poor girl, who remained stuck for over an hour, until cops arrived. The poor child was left in tears by the traumatic, sucking on her thumb.
An onlooker told cops that the girl’s mother was about 30 years old and chained her to the lampost for missing Mandarin classes. “There is such a thing as tough love but this is taking it too far,” an onlooker told the Mirror UK.
“The girl was quite clearly upset and didn’t know what to do. She was sucking her thumb and had tears in her eyes. We reported it to police and we hope that they look into the family further to make sure that the girl is not harmed again.” When the mother finally returned 10 minutes later, she released the child and was taken to the police station for questioning.
“We established that it was the first time the girl was chained,” Assistant Police Commissioner Mohammad Azlin Sadari told the Daily Mail. “It was decided to let the mother go home with her daughter, warning her not to do it again.”
