When Wesam Alkhani of Pasadena, Texas, lost his Siberian Husky named Scout two weeks ago while visiting friends in Houston, he feared he’d never see him again.
Alkhani told KHOU 11 News that he looked for his service dog Scout for days, and eventually found our the dog had been dropped off at the Pasadena Animal Shelter. But, by the time Alkhani got there, Scout had already been adopted by another family.
KHOU covered the story, and once the family who rescued Scout saw his story, they contacted Alkhani. “We were trying to figure out if it was him, and we watched the report, like, 20 times just trying to make sure it was him,” said new owner Mike Evans.
Upon learning that his former owner was looking for Scout, Evans knew what he had to do- give Scout back to his original owner. “He’s a great dog,” Evans said. “He’s an absolutely great dog, and we absolutely loved him. We’re just happy he’s able to be with his father and that he’s happy.”
It was a bittersweet moment for Evans and his wife, but he says, “He seems like a good kid, and he deserves to have his dog back.” Alkhani is eternally grateful, saying, “I want to thank them from my heart.”
