Watch: Captain Jack Sparrow Surprises Sick Children

Not only that, but he did it while dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow, staggering down the hallway with Scrum (Stephen Graham) in tow.

The two took time away from filming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, to visit the children’s ward of Lady Cilento Hospital in Brisbane, Australia. The 52-year-old actor swaggered around in character like he came straight from another era, taking selfies with the children and giving out hugs.

This isn’t the first time Depp has surprised children with Captain Jack. “Sometimes you go to kiddie hospitals and things like that,” the actor told E! “I’ll just sneak in and go and surprise a bunch of kiddies through the different wards … It basically turns into a two-, three-hour improvisation and it’s really fun. So I travel with Captain Jack.”
