A Buffalo woman quit her job last week without any offers–this week, she has over 14. How? She took an unusual approach and handed out roadside resumes.
Have you ever been stuck in traffic and seen a homeless person on the road asking for money? Carrie Kemeling has and was inspired to do the same. However, she used an indirect approach to receive money from those passing through.

Carrie staked out a spot on Niagara Street in Buffalo, NY that read, “Not Homeless, But Hungry For Success! Take a Resume.” according to Buffalo News. The 28-year-old woman quit her job at a jewelry store on Friday, and has been extremely successful at finding other positions. However, she’s turned a few down already, saying she’s looking for a job that makes her happy.
Where do you find your dream job? On a Thruway exit apparently.
“Even though I had a job, I’m still looking for better and I know I’m better,” she told Buffalo News. “I’m looking to find a company who is willing to invest in me and I’m investing in them as well. I’m really extremely trainable.” While potential employers might not know how trainable she is, they can be sure she’s innovative. Her unique approach to landing her dream job is certainly getting Carrie a decent amount of attention. Carrie was even offered a job she liked, but turned it down because it wasn’t the compensation she wanted.

“I’ve gotten lots and lots of positive support.”
Carrie told WIVB that she has had a thumbs up of approval from a lot of passing motorists and somebody passing by even bought her a cup of coffee. Another woman said a prayer for her in traffic.
Online, Carrie has gotten even more success. “My Facebook page blew up yesterday and I’ve had a ton of emails,” she told News 4. “I’ve had contacts from Florida and Los Angeles and shares from Washington to Hawaii, and one international contact so far.”
Not to mention, making headlines will probably boost her job search too. Best of luck Carrie in seeking your dream job!
