What exactly is the special sauce of happy couples?
Is it expensive cars, clothes, trips, or status that makes them so happy?
Or, is it the little things, like listening to one another, showing affection, being understanding, cuddling, and professing their love?
LifeDaily shares the answer with you in 7 Little Things Happy Couples Do Everyday:
1. They communicate
Communication is the most important thing when it comes to any relationship, and it is also a form of bonding. Honest and healthy communication is essential in happy couples, so explaining to your partner what’s bothering you and how you feel will go along way instead of pretending that nothing is wrong, and letting your feelings build up.
2. They are understanding
A healthy relationship is one where both people agree that they are going to make mistakes, and they have to practice being forgiving everyday. No one is perfect, nor will they ever be, so to hold our partner to unrealistic expectations is only going to harm you in the end. Practice being understanding.
3. They grow common interests
Happy couples tend to enjoy each other’s company no matter what they are doing. You may not enjoy watching Sunday Football with your man, and he may not enjoy watching the Housewives with you, but there are certain things that you can do together. Such as learning to cook together by taking classes, or going to see a show or concert.
4. They spend time together
This one may be obvious, but I’m talking about uninterrupted quality alone time, where you both can truly connect. Everyone is so busy with work and school that it’s very hard to find time to spend alone together. But the key here is to spend time alone that doesn’t include phones and distractions like checking your social media accounts.
5. They cuddle
Which is not to say that if you don’t enjoy cuddling, you are doomed for disaster, but for those that do enjoy it, it is very beneficial for your relationship. Cuddling with your partner provides you with a sense of warmth and comfort, and it’s a bonding experience.
6. They appreciate one another
A happy couple does their best to never take one another for granted. Over time it’s easy to get comfortable, but if you are constantly reminding yourself of how lucky and grateful you are to have your partner, you will never grow tired of them.
7. They express their love everyday
It’s the little things that count, and expressing how you feel towards your partner is very important. Saying “I love you,” and writing your partner a love letter or a love note goes a long way. It’s nice to even send a sweet or sexy message to your partner during the busy day just to let them know you are thinking of them and you care.
8. They plan their futures together
Planning for the future can take many forms. One being sitting down with calendars and calculators, and planning a time line for when you want to achieve your goals, and creating a budget. Another form is sitting down and having deep and meaningful conversations on future plans for your lives together.
Remember, a happy couple is a team and works like a team.
