Celebrities like to play a publicity game with the media that been unofficially dubbed “what will they do next?”

Miley Cyrus won the most recent round when she appeared on Jimmy Kimmel wearing nipple pasties and a cape. The pop star made really good points about gender equality and nudity, all while wearing an outfit so outrageous Kimmel had to blush.

At one point, he even had to ask her what her father thought about her when she appears on television practically nude. Cyrus said that her father doesn’t care because, “he’d rather me have my tits out and be a good person than have a shirt on and be a bitch.” — well said, Miley.

Cyrus did have some great points however about nudity laws in America. Cyrus, who describes herself as a vegan nuddist, said that America’s regulations laws don’t make any sense. The nipple (which everybody has) is not allowed to be exposed in public, but the surrounding flesh and cleavage (which only women have) is allowed to be shown.

Humans aren’t afraid of the human breast. It’s the nipple that’s the issue…I’m showing my boobs and no one has a problem because the nipples are covered so somehow that’s OK. America’s actually fine with tits. It’s nipples they don’t like—which is what you have. Which is insane, because the nipple, you can’t show, everyone has—but the jug part that everyone doesn’t, you’re allowed to show under-boob.

Watch the entire outrageous interview:

Additionally, Cyrus spoke with Vanity Fair earlier this summer about body dysmorphia.

Cyrus said she began acting on Hannah Montana at a young age. “From the time I was 11 it was, ‘You’re a pop star! That means you have to be blonde, and you have to have long hair, and you have to put on some glittery tight thing.’” She said when the show ended, she didn’t know what to do.

Acting at such a young age “probably caused some body dysmorphia because I had been made pretty every day for so long, and then when I wasn’t on that show, it was like, ‘Who the f— am I?’”

Perhaps Cyrus’s account gives insight into why child stars often flip out when they grow up. Cyrus seems to have handled the pressure of growing up in a spotlight fairly well. She’s interested in being an individual and she said she doesn’t bother to follow Hollywood culture. In the interview with Kimmel, Cyrus said she doesn’t even have cable. Good for you, Miley. If only we could all care so little about other’s impressions of us.
