As most mothers and daughters, you may argue and bicker from time to time, but it all comes out of love, and at the end of the day your love is all that matters.
It is common to argue and fight with the ones we love the most and are closest to. Our mothers may have had many silly arguments with us, but it’s only out of love, and because they want the very best for us.
Here are 10 Arguments Every Mother Has Had With Her Daughter:
1. Where are my clothes?
Everyone has had this fight, especially if you are the same size pants, or tops, or shoes with your mother. If in fact you aren’t, you still have bags, jewelry and sunglasses to steal, and you know she is going to come after you when you take something without asking her.
2. Why are you wearing that?
“Are you really going to walk out of the house like that?” “Don’t you think that’s too short?” “Don’t you think you’re going to be cold?” These are all arguments we have had with our mothers, and probably the same arguments we’re going to have with our own daughters one day.
3. Why are you dating him?
“Do you really like him?” “Don’t you think he’s too old?” “Don’t you think he’s too this or that, or that or this, or anything! Moms will find anything to say about someone if they disapprove, and they will do their best to let you know exactly how they feel. They may think they are being discreet, but it is the farthest thing from it.
4. When are you going to wake up and realize?
That you need to get a new job, or do this instead, or grow out of the phase that you’re in (even though it’s not a phase).
5. Why didn’t you call me?
We’ve all heard this a couple thousand times:
“You told me you would call me back, but you never did. Where are you, what are doing, when are you coming home, who are you with?”
6. Who are you texting?
“I see you glued to your phone, who are you talking to? Is it a guy? Who is it? What’s his name? Where do you know him from? Is he cute? Can I see a picture?”
No Mom, It’s just Sheryl. (Obviously just to shut her up).
7. When are you going to settle down?
“Don’t you think it’s time to start thinking about your settling down? Have you thought about your future? Do you want me to set you up with someone? My friend Barbara’s son Michael is very cute, he has a good job, he’s smart, you would like him.”
“No Mom, just no.”
8. When are you going to do XYZ…?
Pay the rent; buy plane tickets; get the milk – it doesn’t matter. Mom will always push you to do adult stuff, especially when you don’t want to. The more she nags you, the more you won’t want to do it. So it’s a disaster until you do.
9. Can you help me with this technology stuff?
And it’s the same thing every time! You show her how to send a text message, and how to increase the font size in her phone, and how to check her email, and how to switch her phone from volume to silent, and she still asks you 100 times again, and probably the next day.
10. Why are you/aren’t you eating that?
“I made it, it’s so good, why aren’t you eating that?” Or “Why are you eating that, don’t you think you’ve eaten enough, you’re going to blow up!”
Regardless of these arguments, we love our mothers, and in hindsight all we can do is laugh at the silliness.
Share if your mom has had any of these arguments with you, or you’ve had any of these arguments with your daughter.
