Two days had gone by since Russian workers fixed a collapsed pavement in the south western city of Voronezh, Russia.
The workman filled up the whole, unaware that a dog was trapped beneath the rubble.
One of the families residing in the home began to hear muted cries, and at first thought nothing of it. But the crying continued, and there was no doubt where it was coming from- beneath the ground!
The family immediately contacted the city’s housing office, but were told that nothing could be done.
One of them, Vadim Rustam knew what he had to do.
He began hammering at the brick and removing them one by one, eventually digging sand out with his hands.
When he pushed the last rock aside, a muzzle poked out into the daylight.
Rustam helped the pup squeeze through the opening, and eventually brought him to safety.
He then learned that this adorable pup was pregnant!
The animal, who is almost certainly a stray, was later taken to a rescue shelter where she is alive and well.
