The next time somebody tries to tell you rat’s are dumb, introduce them to Lulu.
Lulu is a genius rat that would put any dog to shame. Her owners (who manage her Youtube account brewmastermk) have made her a tricky obstacle course, which she passed with flying colors. Ramps, steps, see-saws, and beams don’t cause this rat to even break a sweat.
It turns out, rat’s are actually incredibly intelligent and independent animals. For exmaple…

And they have been known to read a wide range of books, express the themes of major literary works, and compose a full thesis analyzing the work:

(It’s possible my sources may have been incorrect about that last one.)
Regardless, rats and mice are incredibly smart, and you can watch this one show you just how much she knows:
Despite the bad reputation rats are often subjected to, they’re are actually wonderful creatures. They are known to express empathy for those in their fellow rat pack, and they experience pain. Combined with their incredible capacity to learn, as is displayed above, I’d say rats aren’t as ratty as we make them out to be.
