A 70-year-old woman owes her life to the off-duty police officer who pulled her from the wreck of a burning car last week.

An off-duty Seattle cop is being hailed a hero when he pulled  70-year-old Carissa Carly from her car moments before it exploded.

Seattle police officer John Smith was right behind a four-car crash as he was headed home on I-90 in Washington state. Two of the cars in the wreck burst into flames, so Smith had to act very quickly.

Smith told Q13 Fox, “Dust was flying immediately, I saw flames, so I pulled over, just luckily I happened to be right there.” Smith continued, “I went up to open the door. The door would not open.”

“I tried several times. Finally it popped open. Was dragging her across the freeway to get her to the other side.” He added, “Some other Samaritans came up, grabbed her feet, carried her over and somewhere, seconds later, the car blew up.’

The woman had to be rushed to the hospital and into surgery for the head trauma she suffered during the crash. She had an alarming 150 stitches put across her forehead, but it looks like it’s going to be smooth sailing from here on out. She was additionally treated for several fractures but she’s not complaining.

“I really appreciate it because I wouldn’t be alive today,’ Carly told Fox. “I’m really grateful. I talked to my friend and she said (Smith) was an angel to help me” She added, “One of those angels, you know?”

Off-Duty Police Officer Rescues Woman From Car Seconds Before It Explodes is an article from: LifeDaily

A North Carolina Mom has lost custody of both her children after a neighbor made a shocking call to the cops.

Johnston County Department of Social Services showed up to a home in Four Oaks after responding to a call that a one-year-old child had crossed what was described as a rural road and found her way to the neighbor’s front step on Sunday 17. The mother of the child hadn’t even noticed she was gone.

Perhaps more shocking was what Mom said when deputies showed up at her front door. They located the mother, 27-year-old Samantha Brooke Bryant, who claimed she no longer had a one-year-old daughter.

Officers also located a three-year-old boy in the home, which was described as “badly unkempt.”

The officers said Bryant was acting very erratically. She was charged with two counts of misdemeanor child abuse and jailed under a $5,000 bond. The two children were placed in the custody of social workers.

A man located at Bryant’s home was wanted for probation violation. He was also arrested and transported to the Johnston County jail.

A spokesperson for the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office said both children were unharmed.

This isn’t the first time Bryant has been arrested either. She was charged in 2012 with felony larceny, according to Johnston County crime reports.

Benjamin and Hope Jordan hired 22-year-old Alexis Khan to care for their newborn baby boy, Finn, while they worked, ran errands, and enjoyed some time out every once in a while. The sitter had passed a background check with flying colors, but about 5 months into her nanny job, the Jordan’s couldn’t understand why their 7-month-old son was acting different or why their loyal and loving dog Killian, acted aggressive toward Khan.

This story proves that even though they may not be able to share their feelings all the time, dogs can tell us a lot about a person in our lives… especially those we trust!

Security Camera Captures Strange Childlike Figure Running Around In The Street is an article from: LifeDaily

Of all the incredible rescues Hope For Paws has accomplished, one of the most heartwrench was that of tiny chihuahua Jordan. After a psychotic homeless man was seen cutting off the poor pup’s paws and throwing him into a dirty Los Angeles canal, the Hope For Paws heroes prepared for the absolute worst.

It wasn’t an easy recovery, but eventually Jordan survived and was even adopted into a forever home. His incredible story proves anything is possible with a little love… and hope.

Heroes Rescued Severely Abused Chihuahua Thrown In Canal is an article from: LifeDaily

In an incredible display of loyalty, a street dog named Spike was captured on film chasing down an ambulance to stand by the side of his owner who fell ill. 

Emergency crews in Taguatinga, Brazil, picked up a young homeless man who had an epileptic seizure when they noticed a dog chasing the ambulance. While the dog’s owner may not have a lot of money, he’s rich when it comes to the love of this beautiful dog. Spike must have been concerned about his human’s well-being because he literally was willing to risk his own life trying to keep up. 

“In 19 years of this profession, I have never witnessed such a scene,” emergency worker Celiosmar Ferreira told the newspaper Correio Braziliense.

“We were touched and concerned about the safety of the animal, who could be run over. When we stopped the car at an intersection, he came to stand in front of the ambulance. It was then that we decided to pick him up,” Ferreira continued. 

Right after Spike jumped in, the sick man woke up a little and began speaking to the animal. Once inside the hospital, Spike was allowed to accompany his owner into the emergency room and sat by his bedside throughout the entire ordeal. 

Luckily, the young man’s condition was not serious and he was released that day with his pup.

A young woman with down syndrome completely stole the spotlight during a live broadcast at a mall in Australia. 

When Scott Linden was doing a Street Talk segment on Australia’s 7 News Mackay, he got an unexpected surprise from a girl giggling in the background. That girl was Georgia Knoll, and she literally video bombed Linden’s broadcast, and he asked the camera man, “Is someone there?”

Linden was so blown away by how excited Georgia was, he gave her the opportunity to speak, and she said, “Hey mum, hey dad- love you.” Linden posted the video on Facebook saying, “One of the nicest video bombs I’ve had while filming Street Talk. Hi Georgia.”

After Linden saw how many people liked and shared the video, he said, “Thanks for sharing this one around folks, she’s a gem.”

Georgia’s sister Kathryn even gave a big shout out to her sister saying, “For anyone wondering, she’s exactly the same at home. Always manages to make us laugh. Light of my life and best friend.”

The unidentified mom, known as Phantom0591 on Reddit, posted a picture of her payback to the site, which included a note taped to the bottle to let the thief know that ‘coffee creamer’ he had been stealing all week was not exactly the milk he thought it was.

“Good morning, To whomever has been enjoying my coffee creamer all week… Surprise!!!  You’ve been drinking my breast milk,” the mystery mom who signed the letter as ‘B’ wrote. “Hope you’ve enjoyed – cheers!”

Surprised Woman Gives Birth 7 Months After Supposed Miscarriage is an article from: LifeDaily

An 11-year-old girl turned down birthday gifts this year to help raise money for the recovery of a puppy in poor condition. 

Libre was rescued from a Lancaster County Farm where he was found hairless, due a severe case of mange, and barely able to walk. Dillsburg Veterinary Center took Libre in, and they’ve had their work cut out for them since he is in such bad shape. 

When a girl named Liberty Miller heard about Libre, she wanted to help him, so she used the money she received for her birthday and donated it to the center to help with Libre’s extensive treatment. 

Dr. Ivan Pryor, who has been treating Libre was so overwhelmed that someone so young donated $230. 

“I didn’t know Liberty before this, but I’m just really proud of her,” Dr. Pryor said.

Thanks to Liberty’s donation, Libre is now able to hold his head up and eat and is getting treatments around the clock. 

And as far as why Liberty decided to donate her birthday money, she told WJLA, “I feel happy. Very, very, very happy. He needed a lot of help and I knew it would help him a lot.”

These days, being a police officer if often one of the most difficult and scary jobs a person can have, but the following story proves that although being tough helps, sometimes it’s all about having heart.

Police officers in Los Angeles County pretty much see it all and then some on the job, but there are some things even the bravest cop can’t prepare for. When a call came in to South Pasadena, California police headquarters about a possible jumper on the York bridge, rookie cop Chris Perez was likely a little nervous, unknowing who he would encounter or what state they were in.

With less than a year on the job, Officer Perez had already seen some shocking things, but nothing could have prepared him to find a tiny 12-year-old girl “sobbing and desperate” on the bridge. The girl was balancing on a thin ledge nearly 80 feet high, so the rookie cop knew he had to be extremely careful dealing with the delicate situation. Any sudden movement or saying the wrong thing could cause the girl to plummet to her death.

“I literally didn’t even start talking to her until I made it to the sidewalk and just asked her what was happening, what was going on?”, Perez says of how he walked up to her calmly in the following video.

“She told me she was upset by a group home that she was living at, and that’s why she ran away…She was telling me they treated her poorly and badly and would lock her in a room every time she was bad,” Perez told CBS.

A dad shopping at Costco got the funniest glimpse into what his son could look like as a senior. 

The father posted a photo on Reddit of his little boy dressed in the exact same lime green polo shirt and plaid shorts as a much older man in the background.

“I guess I know what my son will look like in 70 years…” the dad wrote about his son’s look-alike. 

Perhaps this proves that Back to the Future is real? Although Reddit commenters had other theories: 

“Your son just wanted to see his father one more time before he died, so he took a Delorean Uber back to 2016,” one wrote. Another added, “All universes cross at Costco.”

We just hope this dad went over to the man to say hi and marvel in this hysterical moment. If he didn’t, it’s probably because it would have created a time paradox.

Adorable Twins Start Crying Every Time Mom Feeds Their Sibling is an article from: LifeDaily

Think a ‘vicious’ and ‘aggressive’ animal can’t change? Cherry the pit bull proves that with the right love and care, anything is possible.

Nine years ago, Cherry the pit bull was one of 53 dogs rescued from American professional football player Michael Vick’s home. Cherry was born and bred to fight, and possibly die in the meantime. This dog was never meant to have a life of his own, but thankfully some heroes from Best Friends Animal Society in Utah decided that Cherry didn’t deserve to be put down just because he had a rough upbringing.

When Cherry first arrived, he wasn’t trying to fight his rescuers or other dogs. In fact, he was terrified him. “When we would try to walk him, he would flatten his body right to the ground and almost crawl because he was so scared,” Best Friends’ director of animal care, Michelle Weaver, says in the following video from Bark Post.

“(We) really felt the dogs deserved to go through the rehabilitation process because they were the victims,” she continued. Cherry’s guardian angels refused to give up on him, seeing the pit bull’s sweet and loving nature underneath his skiddish exterior and over time they began to see a change in the poor pup.

Pit Bull Rescued From Dogfighting Ring Has The Best Day Ever is an article from: LifeDaily

The weekend is never long enough for mothers to get all the chores done, which is why so many have to multitask in order to get it all done. However, one mom is warning parents everywhere to NEVER multitask while crossing this item of the to-do list.

Australian mom, Kelly-Anne Deverix was in the middle of doing chores around the house to prep for the upcoming week when she gave her 15-month-old son, Junior, a bath. When she heard the washing machine was finished, she decided to go quickly unload the clothes to save some time.

 “He was very waterwise, as you can see in the photo he could stand up. At times he could slip but was able to pick himself straight back up,” Deverix said. However, when she walked back into the bathroom 10-15 minutes later, Junior was lifeless in the tub.

Paul Donley was in another room on his computer when he first heard his wife’s screams and ran in to see what happened. “I just grabbed him straight off her, doing CPR . . . I ended up with vomit in my mouth,” he said. “I thought I got him back a couple of times but I didn’t, but I didn’t fix him. Usually, I can fix things, but I couldn’t fix him,” he said in tears about the moment he knew his son was gone.

“(As a parent) we know what our children are capable of and not capable of. I just took that risk and that chance which I shouldn’t have,’’ Deverix said. “But it’s true you shouldn’t leave your children alone in the bath, some of us mothers take faith in that sort of thing. If my hearing was perfect I might have heard something.”

Meet Officer Tommy Norman, an Arkansas Officer who works in the tough neighborhood of North Little Rock.

He may look like he’s a serious dude, but it turns out this officer is a lot like leftover lasagna: hard on the outside, but nice and soft on the inside.

His Instagram account has more than 1 million followers!

His method is to change lives by taking an unconventional approach to law enforcement. Rather than simply enforcing the law, he’s showing us EXACTLY what it means to serve and protect by serving as a community figure.

When Norman shows up somewhere, he’ll often bring candy, frisbees, and other things for the kids to play with.

“He’s always out in the community and I love that about him,” said Barbara Johnson to TV station KTHV. “I met officer Norman 14 years ago off of 16th and Sycamore.”

“I was having problems out of one of my children, and he came in and kind of talked to them and guided them and ever since then he’s kind of been in my life.”

Norman even spends time with members of the community on his days off, for example, attending community events or even going fishing.

It happens in incremental waves when an individual works to make a difference every single day. It happens when an officer is committed to being a mentor.

Police Officer Shows Us What It Means To Serve And Protect By Being A Community Figure is an article from: LifeDaily

Parents are faced with many difficult decisions. Even choices that may sound beneficial can have devastating effects in the long run.

Two Italian parents, for example, were recently arrested by police in Milan. These parents thought they were making a good decision for their child when they chose to keep him to a strict vegan diet, just as they held themselves to a strict vegan diet.

But doctors thought otherwise. When police brought in the 14-month-old, they were shocked at the child’s poor state of health.

The child, who’s name has not been released for privacy reasons, weighed only 11 pounds. That’s the weight of a healthy 3-month-old baby. According to LiveStrong, the healthy weight of a 14-month-old baby is anywhere from 17-25 pounds.

Doctors took blood and found because of this child’s vegan diet, he was severely undernourished. But it gets worse. He also had calcium levels barely adequate to survive and was suffering from a congenital heart condition, aggravated by his low calcium levels, which required emergency surgery.

Luca Bernardo, director of paediatrics at the hospital, said:

“This forces us to reflect on uncommon feeding regimes, even if in this case it was complicated by a cardiac malformation.”

“It is not a problem to choose different or unusual kinds of nutrition and we certainly do not want to enter into a discussion of the merits of the decision. But since birth, the baby should have had support in this case with calcium and iron.”

According to the child’s grandparents, his mother and father had been holding him to a strict vegan diet without any dietary supplements. They are fighting for custody currently and an Italian court will make this decision in time.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time a child has been hospitalized in Italy due to keeping a vegan diet. In the past 18 months alone, five children have been hospitalized for malnutrition.

And in 2007, an Atlanta couple was sentenced to life in prison after their 6-week-old child died as a result of being fed nothing but soy milk and apple juice.

14-Month-Old Hospitalized After Being Kept On Strict Vegan Diet Without Supplements is an article from: LifeDaily

Parents are always worried about the safety of their children.

Issues of health, safety, emotional security, and a million other concerns are always plaguing a mother’s mind. However, rarely do parents think that somebody will actually attempt to steal a child right out from under them.

A video surfaced recently showing just how easy it is to kidnap children when Mom isn’t far.

Youtube celebrity Joey Salads put together a video in the name of conducting a social experiment that is sure to horrify any parent reading this article.

It didn’t take much for Joey to pull this off. All he needed was an ice cream truck and a catchy tune to lure in children and have them running for the large truck, one with a heavy metal door that locks from the inside.

With permission from the parents first, Joey put his sweet treats on display, but when the children asked for their favorite snacks, they were told he had them “in the back.” Interested only in the promise of ice cream, the kids followed him inside the truck and that’s all it takes to lose hold of your little one.

Before the children could do or say anything, he slams the door shut and fortunately, only taught the children a lesson in safety. However, this could have been so much worse.

Joey said he noticed how parents so often let their children run up to an ice cream truck alone, money in hand, without any adult supervision. Perhaps this video serves as a warning to keep a closer eye on your little ones. After all, no matter how many times you drill your children with the importance of not talking to strangers, all that knowledge goes out their tiny little heads when promised ice cream.
