Firemen Rescue Boy’s Card For Mom In Heaven

Normally firefighters are called heroes for bravely risking their lives in a daring rescue mission, however, a group of Colorado firemen is being hailed heroes for what they did for a little boy trying to send a letter to his mom in heaven.

In Feb. 2014, one little boy named Evan suffered a heartbreaking loss when his mother, Kellie, passed away. To help them grieve, Evan and his dad Jess have been sending handwritten letters up to Kellie up in heaven with the help of balloons. However, when Evan and Jess sent up a letter this past Mother’s Day, it accidentally got tangled in a tall tree.

With no way of reaching the top of the massive tree, Jess reached out to the West Metro Fire Rescue to see if there was anything they could do. “We reached back out to [him] and said, ‘Absolutely, we’ll come and help you,'” Chief Steve Aseltine said. “We sent a tower ladder apparatus, which has four personnel. An opportunity to take their bad situation and make it better, we would jump on it. The firefighters, they were ecstatic to go and help.”

Photo by Facebook/West Metro Fire Rescue

On May 17, the crew showed up at their home after Evan got home from school and got to work rescuing the special card. “The reason his hair looks so ridiculous is because it was wacky hair day for spirit week at school,” Jess said. “The firemen went out of their way to make him feel very special. They let him in the truck and hung out with him afterward and that was great.”

Photo by Facebook/West Metro Fire Rescue

“It meant so much to us and we’re so thankful and grateful for everything they do,” Jess said. “They protect the community and go out of their way to help out, even when it’s not a big thing so we’re just deeply appreciative.”

After seven long months at sea with the Navy, one Florida dad was finally being sent home to his family. But instead of telling his son the exciting news, he decided to make his homecoming a moment they would never forget.

Second Class Petty Officer Ryan Fountaine had been stationed in the western Pacific Ocean for seven months, but when he was finally being sent home, he reached out to his son’s school, Camelot Elementary, to help plan an unforgettable surprise for his six-year-old son named Adam.

The school planned a special assembly to learn about patriotism and had a few students, including Adam, up on stage for a special performance. But at the kindergarteners were on stage, Ryan walked out in front of his son and left him speechless and frozen in the middle of the performance.

“Daddy! Dada!” Adam yelled out when it finally hit him that his dad was finally home after not seeing him for months. But as his shock wore away, the six-year-old quickly started filling him in on things his dad had missed while away. “I have a game, and it’s really hard. I keep having to start over again,” Adam said. “I can probably help you, buddy,” Ryan answered.

Soldier Donates Kidney For Old Army Buddy

Soldiers are taught to never leave their fellow man behind, and that lesson seems to have stuck for one veteran who made a lifesaving donation to his sick Army brother decades after they served together.

In the mid-1990s, Kai Johns and Robert Harmon served together in the Army at Fort Bragg as paratroopers, and while they haven’t seen each other in 16 years, the bond these military brothers share is unbreakable. So when Johns found out he needed a kidney transplant, Harmon selflessly stepped up to save his life.

This past November, 44-year-old Johns visited an urgent care center for what he thought was the flu. “I went to urgent care and said I needed to get to the hospital as soon as possible. They immediately admitted me and told me I had six percent kidney function,” Johns said. “My body was just filled with toxins.”

Both of Johns’ kidneys had failed and he was placed on the donor list for a kidney, however, they estimated it would take seven years to get to the top of the list since he needed an O-positive kidney to match his blood type, which is very rare. While waiting, he started dialysis three times a week. “Dialysis is no way to live,” Johns said.

It was clear that Johns wouldn’t last seven years on dialysis, so his wife reached out to friends and family on Facebook to look for a donor. “It got shared like crazy. We went on the hunt for a living donor,” Johns said. Harmon saw that his old friend was in desperate need so reached out to see what he could do and how he could get tested. “We were paratroopers in the Army together and that brotherhood runs deep,” Harmon said.

Johns and Harmon were a perfect match and underwent the kidney transplant operation in late April and Johns immediately felt better when he woke up from the operation. “For someone to offer up a piece of themselves to save your life, there are no words for it. It was an eternal thanks,” Johns said. “We were always good friends. It’s just that military brotherhood.”

Sick Dad Sees Daughter Graduate In Hospital Ceremony

When one Texas dad was diagnosed with ALS, he cherished the fact that he’d be able to see his daughter graduate college since he most likely wouldn’t be there for her on other momentous days.

Brad Gildenblatt was first diagnosed with ALS during his daughter Caitlin’s sophomore year at Oklahoma State University and has been immobile since then. They knew his condition would only get worse but always planned to make it to Caitlin’s graduation day so he could watch her graduate.

However, when Gildenblatt got pneumonia, the only way he would survive was to get a tracheotomy but it also meant he wouldn’t be able to leave the hospital in time for Caitlin’s graduation. “I was upset, I was sad, but I knew this is where he needed to be,” Caitlin said. “It was just mixed emotions, because I didn’t want him trying to come to graduation and have something happen. I’d rather him just stay in the hospital and be where he needs to be.”

The family thought Gildenblatt would have to watch the ceremony on a live stream, but when Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences Bruce Crauder heard about the tragic situation, he reached out to the family and explained he would drive three hours to the hospital to throw a private graduation. “It just meant the world that they would actually do that,” Caitlin said. “I thought he was just going to have to watch me on the live stream.”

“We were going to do it in his little ICU room, but they actually got a room with us. They decorated it for us, they got chairs, they made cupcakes, there were balloons. It was nice,” Caitlin said about the ceremony where she got to walk across the room to get her diploma and the dean even read a speech.

The next day Caitlin and her mom drove back to school so she could walk in the real ceremony and live streamed the special moment so her dad could still see everything. “He’s okay,” Caitlin said about her dad who only has about a month left to live. “We’re finally home, so he’s very happy to be back in his own house. We just take it day by day, and I know he’ll always be with me.”

Sunscreen Leaves Baby With Second-Degree Burns

With summer starting, it’s important to protect kids from sun damage as they spend more time playing outside, however, one Canadian mom is warning parents everywhere that some sunscreens can cause more harm than good.

A few weeks ago, mom Rebecca Cannon took her 14-month-old daughter, Kyla, outside to play. Even though it was an overcast day, she knew it was still important to use sunscreen, however, she had forgotten her bottle at home and borrowed some Banana Boat Kids Sunscreen Spray SPF 50.

Cannon sprayed a little bit of the product on her hands first and then rubbed it on Kyla’s face. A few hours later, however, Kyla’s face started swelling and was turning a painful shade of red. “She was red. She was blistering,” she said. Cannon then rushed her daughter to the emergency room and doctors said the sunscreen had caused a second-degree burn.

Kyla then saw a dermatologist who confirmed the burn was a chemical burn from an ingredient in the sunscreen, and now Cannon is warning parent to be careful when choosing sunscreens for small children. “Please watch and be careful when using aerosolized sunscreen! I have done a lot of research. Since coming home and have found a disturbing amount of cases like ours. I don’t know why it’s not removed from the shelves!! Please be careful the sunscreen used was banana boat SPF 50 broad spectrum kids sunscreen.”

While watching a movie with her brothers on Sunday morning, one Atlanta six-year-old was tragically shot in the neck when a bullet from a drive-by shooter tore through the home.

Miraculously, the bullet didn’t kill Princess Jackson instantly so her mom Amika Latimer called 911 and paramedics rushed her to the emergency room at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. It was only when doctors examined Princess, however, that they realized how blessed the little girl had been.

Not only did Princess survive the shot, but she wasn’t even paralyzed. “They say it is a miracle that the bullet went in and came out because something like that, it usually hits major arteries,” said Latimer. “An inch or two to the left or to the right, by baby, would have been paralyzed, but she’s not.”

Princess had to miss her Kindergarten graduation the next day, but Latimer is just overjoyed that her baby is supposed to make a full recovery. “She is doing better. Her neck Brace is off and is worn only when needed. Her progress is remarkable,” Latimer said in an update on a GoFundMe account that she set up to help pay for treatment.

Georgia teacher Kimberly Wimbish has made it her life mission to make sure none of her students get left behind, which is why she was overjoyed when she found out one of her students, who had overcome incredible challenges, was going to graduate.

Wimbish, a special education teacher at Griffin High School, is used to dealing with challenging students and refused to give up when Jamias Howard, one of her most difficult students, entered her class. “It was like he didn’t trust anyone and he had up a wall. And before you got him, he was gonna get you,” Wimbish said.

“It was a challenge. It looked like he was never going to graduate, like he wasn’t going to be able to pull it together. All I could see was things not going well for him from that point on, had he not been given an opportunity to get it right, been given another chance.”

“Jamias has had his challenges. He had additional challenges that wouldn’t afford him the opportunity to come to school to be educated,” Wimbish said. “I saw need, and I was able to fulfill that need. I had no problems volunteering to try to help him graduate.” So after finishing a full day of work at school, Wimbish volunteered her time to teach Jamias one-on-one. “We’d meet at the local library or a local park or Burger King, wherever he could walk to. We’d go through lessons and I’d grade him and I’d teach him. He really worked.”

So when Wimbish found out that Jamias was going to graduate, she decided to surprise him by hand delivering his cap and gown. “When I found out he had enough credits, I was just about to explode with excitement. He put in his time, and he worked, and I worked, and Lord knows it was a challenge, but it was well worth it.”

And when Jamias found out the amazing news, he was overwhelmed with emotion.  “Appreciate it, ma’am. I love you so much. Thank you so much for everything you do for me. Appreciate it,” Jamias told his determined teacher. “He said, ‘Mama you need to get home. You need to come home right now. I’m graduating,’” mom Trenia Howard said. “My eyes starting getting teary when I heard that.”

“Everything he’s been through, the challenges he’s faced, he’s going to be happy. I had no idea he would get so emotional. He always tried to be a tough guy, but I had to break those walls down,” Wimbish said.

Boss Raises Money So Long-Distance Employee Can Keep Her Job

For one South Carolina boss, his employees are like family to him. So when one of his top employees was going to have to quit since she couldn’t afford to commute to work each day, he went above and beyond to make sure that didn’t happen.

Recently, Tia Benbow, an employee at Firestone Complete Auto Care, explained to her boss, Charlie Brown, that she was going to have to resign since she couldn’t afford to commute to work each day even though she had recently moved closer to work to shorten her two-hour drive. “I lived in Greeleyville but I recently moved to the Wedgefield area which is a little closer,” Benbow said. “It was 74 miles one way, but now I’ve cut it down to 30 miles. It would take me about 2 hours.”

However, Benbow got sick in January and was forced to take time off work for a few months to heal. “In the process, with me being out of work and having to take that drive, I did get one vehicle repossessed from me. The second one was in the shop and it was in the process of being repossessed also because I could not afford to get it out of the shop,” she said.

Benbow had no choice but to quit the job she loved and try to look for a position closer to home, but Brown and the rest of the team came together to stop that from happening. “We knew she was feeling down. You could tell by her attitude,” said coworker Eric Amos. “Normally she’s an awake person and smiling and she wasn’t. She told us about the situation a couple weeks prior, so me and Charlie got everybody in the shop to pull the numbers together to get her taken care of.”

“When you see something going on, you always want to be there for your teammates. We did something that was helpful for someone else. That’s just what you do,” said Brown. “We’re family, that’s family, that’s what we do,” a coworker said to Benbow, who broke down in tears when she realized what the team had done for her.

“They care. They wanted me to stay. I had put in a two-weeks notice but they did not want me to leave. They said I was the reason they were making money, because I was making them money. It really touched me,” Benbow said. “Charlie is the best. He actually is such a good man. If not for him none, of this would have been done.”

Dog lovers would do anything to protect their loyal companions, so when one Florida man’s tiny dog came face to face with an eight-foot-long python, he was ready to do anything to keep his best friend from becoming the snake’s snack.

Last week, Joseph Liscinsky opened his garage door after going for his usual morning walk with his beloved dog, Midnight. But unlike every other day, Liscinsky and midnight came face to face with a deadly predator. “I didn’t have a heart attack,” Liscinsky said. “But my adrenaline kicked in and my heart started pounding. I was stunned because I was a foot away from it.”

The 60-year-old immediately grabbed his 14-pound dog and put him inside before turning back and wrestling the snake into a pillow case. “He got my fingers,” said Liscinsky. “As long as he didn’t get my dog. He would have been crushed by that snake. I was lucky I went out with him.”

“My neighbors were shooting video while I was trying to wrestle the snake. They all enjoyed it. My phone wouldn’t stop ringing. They put it on the news.” While everyone was impressed by his bravery, Liscinsky claims he was just doing what he had to do to protect his dog. “That thing would’ve wrapped this dog up, broke its bones and ate him,” he said.

Rescuers Save Puppy That Fell In Pit Of Wet Tar

When one four-month-old stray puppy accidentally fell in a pit of wet tar, he did everything to get out but was hopelessly trapped in the thick black goo that quickly hardened around his body.

The pup had no choice but to wait out his death, but thankfully a good samaritan named Mike Frazier walked by and spotted the terrified animal before it was too late. Frazier immediately called FLY Animal Rescue, and a team of rescuers from the local rescue center rushed to the scene.

He was embedded in tar, it was up under the center of that tar tank,” said Frazier. “And it was caked in tar about 2 to 3 inches thick.” The rescuers managed to pry the puppy, who they’ve named Warrior, out of the tar and began the painstaking process of removing the tar.

The group brought Warrior to the Animal Medical Center and sedated him so they could start cutting out the larger chunks of hardened tar, shaving as much fur as possible, and then gave him a soap bath to wash off any tar that hadn’t hardened yet. “It’s tedious, and we can only do it while he is sedated,” FLY Rescue said. “He will be mostly bald once it’s all removed.”

Despite the shocking way the team found Warrior, he has undergone an incredible transformation in just a few days and is free from about 99% of the tar. Warrior is now recuperating with his foster family, but once he is fully healed, FLY Rescue hopes to find him a forever home.

Hero Teen Saves Dying Swan With CPR

When a team of rescuers from one Australian animal rehabilitation center laid eyes on a young swan that had gotten caught in some fishing wire, most of the rescuers thought there was nothing they could do to save the poor animal.

“We received a call this morning about a juvenile swan caught in fishing wire. We raced out to rescue him and on arrival thought we were too late, a lifeless, cold and stiff body lay before us,” the Melbourne-based rescue group, Warriors 4 Wildlife, said in a post on their Facebook page.

But when the group noticed the swan moving its eyes, they rushed him back to their clinic since there was a chance they could save him. During the ride over, the swan was struggling to stay alive so 15-year-old Joshy Martin resorted to extreme measures to revive him. “Joshy Martin decided to give the swan mouth to mouth and help to keep it warm… it worked!!” Warriors 4 Wildlife said.

Thanks to Joshy’s quick thinking, the swan started breathing on its own and survived long enough to get to the clinic where the team gave him oxygen and an IV drip. The swan, who the team named Clokey, has been recovering and gaining his strength ever since and the group hopes to release him back to the wild within a few weeks.

“If we were a minute later in getting him out of the water, and if Joshua hadn’t given him mouth- to-mouth (resuscitation), he would have died,” said Carla Penn, who runs the rescue center and is also Joshy’s aunt.

While one Texas plumber was on his way to a job one morning last week, a strange figure in a ditch near the road caught his attention as he drove by.

Carlos Carrillo, a plumber from Shoreline Plumbing, had no idea what he had just seen but decided to go back and check it out to be safe. “We didn’t know he was dog at first,” Carrillo said. “We reversed and saw him.” Once they got closer, they realized the figure was actually a dog that had been tied and taped up and left to die in the ditch.

The dog had clearly been mistreated but was incredibly trusting and affectionate with his rescuer. “He seemed OK,” said Carrillo. “He was very loving and liked the attention. He was probably just there for a day or so.” Carrillo and his coworker brought the sweet dog straight to Peewee’s Pet Adoption, a local no-kill shelter, and he was thrilled to finally be safe. “Look at that face. He knows he was saved!”

Once examined, the team discovered the dog had heartworms but was otherwise healthy, and while he’ll need treatment, they’re already looking to find him a forever home. “His tail won’t stop wagging,” a spokesperson at the shelter said. “He’s such a sweetheart.”

Marine Adopts Military Dog That Saved His Life

Military dogs have one of the most dangerous jobs in the military and without their service and sacrifice, thousands of soldiers would never have made it home alive.

“The fact that these dogs will step out and put their life on the line and help them get back to loved ones is very important to me,” said John Park, a Texas father whose own son, Marine Captain Jeff Park, is still alive today thanks to a Labrador named Max that served in Afghanistan alongside Jeff.

Max was assigned to Jeff’s unit in 2011 and had the extremely dangerous job of going ahead of troops and searching for explosives. “Jeff will admit, he says, ‘I know for a fact that Max has saved my life at least three times,’” said mom Julia Park. “He’s one of the unsung heroes.”

In late 2011, Max was assigned to another tour in Afghanistan, however, right before he was shipped out he suffered a massive heat stroke and nearly died. Max was determined unfit to serve and was honorably discharged, but had no home. Jeff refused to let his brave companion go homeless, and adopted him.

“When the tables were turned, Jeff said, ‘He saved my life. I’m saving his,’” said Julia, who was happy to care for Max with her husband while their son is deployed. “A debt that can never be repaid. It is a debt of gratitude for an appreciation for what he’s done.”

At just 34 years old, one Iowa dad was facing the horrible possibility that his four-year-old son was going to grow up without a dad when doctors broke the news that he was slowly dying.

This past January, Darreld Peterson started dialysis after his doctors found out he had renal kidney failure. “It wasn’t until I ended up going to the ER and my doctor, the next day during a follow-up .. she noticed that my hemoglobin count was extremely low,” Petersen said. “They did a biopsy that showed 20 percent kidney function.”

When the news spread around four-year-old Camden’s school, his teacher knew she had to see if there was any way she could help and got tested to see if she was a match. When the results came back, Bleuer found out she was a perfect match. “I was really excited about it,” Bleuer said. “I was ecstatic. I don’t know what I would’ve done for closure if I wasn’t a match.”

Bleuer surprised Peterson with the news and are now scheduled to have the life-saving surgery next month. “The day he found out, I said, ‘We’re on, it’s a go.’ Then, he came over and hugged me and he said, ‘Oh my gosh,'” Bleuer said. “It’s just amazing,” said Peterson. “There are people waiting every day for a kidney, for an organ in general. I wish there were more people like her. She’s giving me a second chance at life.”

Cops are ready to risk their lives every day, but a group of Texas cops are being hailed a hero for what they did to rescue two kidnapped toddlers in grave danger.

At around 2:30 on Thursday morning, Arlington Police Department received a text message from a woman who had been kidnapped with her two young children, and had been shot three times. When the cops caught up with the RV, the woman was pushed out of the vehicle while it was going 80-90 mile per hour.

Miraculously, she survived the fall with only a broken jaw, but the cops knew the 1 and 3-year-old kids were still in the RV and when the vehicle caught fire, they knew they had to act fast to save them. “Right at first when he stopped we’re making plans to get the kids out and then once the RV is on fire then we have to take action right away. Fortunately, he gave the kids up to us before that happened,” Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks said.

“The flames that were fanning underneath the front of the bus, they were really hot. Some of the fuel had started to burn. You could feel the heat coming from it and there was a lot of smoke just because of all the plastics and everything that were burning with it,” said Deputy Floyd Kincaide with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department.

The brave officers pulled the kids out of the RV but just before it exploded in flames, they heard a gunshot as the driver killed himself. “The best thing is that we got the children out and we’re very fortunate that that happened. And we pray that she will recover and will be okay. It was a pretty traumatic experience I imagine to go through,” Meeks said.

Just one bullet is enough to kill a grown man, so when one Pennsylvania toddler was shot four times, his mother thought there was no way her baby could survive.

Recently, two-year-old Price Johnson was sitting on his dad’s lap on the front porch of their Philadelphia home when two shooters rode by their house on bicycles and open fired at the pair. One of the bullets hit Price’s dad, but tragically four of the bullets hit his tiny body.

Price and his father were both rushed to the hospital, and doctors were amazed to see that Price was not only alive, but the bullets hit his arm and lower hip but missed and vital organs or arteries.”He’s my miracle baby. He was meant to be here. He was here for a purpose and that’s why he’s still here with me now,” said mom Donata Johnson.

Just a few days after the shooting, Price was released from the hospital and has already started recovering while his dad is still in the hospital getting treatment for a shattered knee cap and damage to some arteries. “The guys who did this to my baby, I want you all to know my baby’s strong, and we’re going to get you all. They’re going to get you all. Believe it. Believe it,” Johnson said to the two shooters police are now searching for.

When one UK woman was diagnosed with cancer at just 15 years old, having children one day was the last thing on her mind.

“I was very, very poorly at the time so I didn’t really much think about anything – it wasn’t even on my radar about children because I was a child myself,” said Alannah Roberts, now 30. Roberts beat lymphoma, but two years later it returned when she was just 17 years old.

Roberts was again focusing on the fight to survive, but her older sister convinced her to freeze some of her eggs since there was a chance the cancer could cause infertility. “I was so ill my parents were concentrating on making me better, so it wasn’t on their radar. But my sister was in her early 20s, she wondered if it would affect me being able to reproduce.” Now it’s a decision she’s grateful she made because

Now it’s a decision she’s grateful she made because cancer returned when she was 22 years old and she had to undergo full-body radiation, which would destroy any chance of conceiving naturally.

In Jan. 2011, Alannah miraculously beat cancer for the third time, and when she and her husband Andy decided to start a family, they experienced an even bigger miracle. Alannah’s seven eggs were taken out of the freezer and had two eggs implanted. “It’s a miracle we didn’t lose any after thawing. There are so many ways of losing eggs – they can die after a day. We had five eggs survive, then three weren’t of good quality. The final two were good, not excellent, so we had both implanted,” Alannah said.

Alannah ended up getting pregnant from one of the two implanted eggs and gave birth to baby Faith this past September. “Faith is the world’s oldest frozen egg baby. She was born in September – more than 13 years after her mum’s eggs had been frozen,” Kate Garraway explained. “It’s the first time an egg has been successfully used in IVF anywhere in the world after being frozen for so long.”

Couple Decides To Carry Baby With Fatal Condition To Full Term

When one South Carolina couple expecting their third child went in for a routine ultrasound, they were thrilled to see their healthy baby, but instead got news that has changed their lives.

When expecting parents Brandi and Michael Rogers went in for their 20-week check-up, the ultrasound technician noticed fluid on baby Emersyn’s brain and she was diagnosed with anencephaly, a birth defect where the baby is born without parts of the brain and skull.

“I think I kind of sat there when they told me. It’s just one of those things you don’t think could ever happen to you, especially when I have two healthy children,” said Brandi. “When we first found out … I think [the doctor] said it was a 75 percent chance survival rate,” Michael said. “We kind of held onto hope for that. I really thought she was going to make it. We went back and they pretty much told us there’s no chance.”

“We decided on the spot that it wasn’t something we were going to do,” Brandi said. Rather than end the pregnancy, Brandi and Michael have decided to carry Emersyn as close to her due date, which is Sept. 11, as possible and donate her organs to anencephaly research.”It’s for Emersyn. She’s a sister and she’s a daughter and it’s not just for organ donation. It gets a lot deeper than that. You’re in a room and you’re listening to your baby’s heartbeat and then you go into another room and they say, ‘Well, you can stop it.’ That’s extremely hard.”

“When we got home and we were researching, I was looking for a voice of someone who went full term and didn’t regret it,” Brandi Rogers said. “I want to be that voice. It’s OK to celebrate Emersyn even though she’s not going to survive. She’s still our third child and she’s still very much loved.”

The Rogers’ hope that sharing their story will help other parents going through something similar. “We decided to embrace it,” Brandi added. “I think with pregnancy loss and infant loss and miscarriage and stillborn, it’s so taboo and nobody talks about it. I think it would do women a lot of good to speak about that.”

“I don’t want her to ever be forgotten … she wasn’t just a baby that never made it,” Michael Rogers said. “I’d love to start an organization in her name for this specific type of disease. That could be her legacy. I don’t know how to start that, but that would be something I’d love to do.”

Miracle Cat Survives Being Thrown From Moving Car

There are plenty of shelters and safe places happy to take in unwanted animals, but when a Texas cat owner decided they didn’t want a two-month-old kitten anymore, they cruelly tossed her out of the window of a moving car and left her to die.

The cat landed somewhere on the side of Highway 84, and while she didn’t die, she was in critical condition. Thankfully, a customer from a nearby gas station found the tiny kitten and notified the store manager and started calling around to other managers in the area to see if someone would take the baby in and get it treatment since animal control would just euthanize her.

“He called me and said that someone had thrown a kitten out of a moving vehicle, and that this cat needed medical attention quickly,” Melinda Shelton said about her son Christian, who called her after finding out about the poor cat. Shelton rushed to a nearby clinic but refused to listen to the veterinarian who suggested they put the kitten down. “I told them no, and I think she can make it.”

Instead, Shelton rushed the kitten, who she named Fluffy, to Animal Medical Center Copperas Cove for a second opinion. “She’s laying on her side, she’s not moving much, she’s not very responsive, she just looked awful,” Dr. Kelly Henton said about Fluffy, who had a fractured skull, swelling of the brain, and possible brain damage.“Her eyes were pinpoint, the pupils were pinpoint and fixed, just didn’t feel like there was a good chance this kitten was gonna survive.”

Henton gave Fluffy a one in ten chance of survival, but that was enough for Shelton. “I said ‘I’m willing to give her the chance if you are,’ and they said ‘ok,’” said Shelton. Fluffy was sent to an ER clinic for 48 hours and was given medicine and fluids. “I told her, I said ‘if you fight, I will give you a good home,’” said Shelton. By the end of those two days, Fluffy miraculously started to recover. “She started purring for the first time,” said Shelton. “She may have to have a CT scan and possible brain surgery, um, but she’s doing good right now so we’re just hoping that that continues, lots of prayers.”

“She has responded really beautifully,” said Henton. “We’re just gonna have to continue to watch her, but surgery would be needed if she were to decline, and she’s not declining, she’s continuing to improve every day. It’s amazing what a fighter this kitten is. I think we can call her a miracle.”

Poodle Found Locked Inside A Suitcase In The Woods

When one Canadian man first spotted an abandoned suitcase while on a walk in a wooded area, he didn’t think anything of it. However, he knew something was very wrong when he got closer and heard whimpering and saw the suitcase move.

The kindhearted man grabbed the suitcase and immediately rushed home to get tools to break it open since it had been locked. “It was a hard-shelled suitcase in the middle of the woods in a ditch. The suitcase was double locked … the person purposely locked the suitcase and it had to be broken into,” said Eyal Lichtmann, CEO of the Richmond Animal Protection Society (RAPS) animal shelter.

Once at home, the man managed to carefully break the suitcase open and discovered a terrified Toy Poodle sitting in his own urine and feces. After being given some water and being cleaned up, the dog was brought to RAPS so he could be properly examined and cleaned. Surprisingly, the estimated six-year-old dog was dehydrated but otherwise in good shape. “He was very, very lucky that he was found,” Lichtmann said. “This is absolute cruelty … to do this to a beautiful little poodle, who is the friendliest dog in the world.”

The dog, who rescuers named Donut, is now safely resting in their care but eventually hope to find him the loving home he deserves.”He’s the friendliest dog you’ve ever seen,” Lichtmann said. “Now he wants to play the whole time, he loves licking everyone and is a great cuddler.”
