Sun Tzu's Top 10 Comments On The Art Of War

Sun Tzu was a Chinese military general, strategist, and philosopher who is reputed to have been born around 544 BCE and died around 496 BCE.

He is traditionally credited as the author of an extremely influential ancient Chinese books on military strategy called The Art of War. He was a legendary historical figure with an enormous impact on Chinese and Asian history and culture.

Sun Tzu’s understanding of traditional warfare has survived to this day.

But the circumstances of modern asymmetrical warfare, fought between sovereign states and rebel or terrorist groups, have raised doubts about many of his strategies.

Outside of the battlefield, his book has become increasingly popular among political leaders and business managers. Its title,The Art of War, is misleading, as the concepts it espouse address a wide variety of strategies, for example in public administration and planning.

It’s true that the text outlines theories of battle, but it also advocates diplomacy and cultivating relationships with other nations as essential to the health of a state.

Browse through our selection of Sun Tzu’s ideas and judge for yourself the non-military applications:

The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.

supreme art of war

If you know the enemy and know yourself you need not fear the results of a hundred battles.

The opportunity to secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.

Regard your soldiers as your children, and they will follow you into the deepest valleys; look on them as your own beloved sons, and they will stand by you even unto death.

Regard your soldiers as your children

To fight and conquer in all our battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy’s resistance without fighting.

For to win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill.

Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win.

Victorious warrior Samurai

In the practical art of war, the best thing of all is to take the enemy’s country whole and intact; to shatter and destroy it is not so good.

Hence that general is skilful in attack whose opponent does not know what to defend; and he is skilful in defense whose opponent does not know what to attack.

There has never been a protracted war from which a country has benefited.

The last saying of Sun Tzu on our list is probably the most meaningful.

Do you agree with his view of protracted warfare? Do you think that can be extended to any warfare?

7 Free and Simple Ways To Control Snoring

Are you one of the 90 million Americans who snore?

Surveys have shown that although men are slightly more likely to snore than women. The figure of around 30 percent of people who snore is surprisingly consistent across age groups.

While many snore intermittently, there of those who snore so frequently and powerfully that they wake themselves – and their partner – in the middle of the night.

As a result of this disturbed sleep pattern they, and anyone unfortunate enough to sleep next to them, wake tired and in a bad mood.

Snoring is not a disease, but is a condition that leads to constant tiredness and an inability to function normally. The noise created by snoring is due to vibrations at the back of the throat. During the snoring cycle the muscles are relaxed so the tongue falls to the back of the mouth thus restricting the airway. As you breathe in the air is carried through the narrowed passageway – and that’s what makes the typical snoring sound.

Snoring has created an entire industry of gadgets and medicines guaranteeing to provide the miracle cure – at a price.

anti snoring gadgets

Many people claim to have achieved success with one of other of these “cures,” but our LifeDaily team is suggesting a series of tips to cure snoring which cost you nothing!

Check them out:

1. Change your sleeping position.

sleeping position

It is important to avoid sleeping on your back because this is what causes your tongue to collapse to the back of your throat. Sleep on your side instead. Simple tricks such as using a body pillow can get you used to the new position.

2. Don’t drink before bedtime

Alcohol is a muscle relaxant which causes many people to to snore who don’t normally. Avoid drinking alcohol four to five hours before sleeping.

3. Open your nasal passages

Snoring can occur when your nasal passages are blocked. In this case use adhesive nasal dilator strips at night to open up your passageways. Alternatively, you can take a hot shower along with squeezing a little saltwater solution in your nose to clear your nasal passages.

4. Lose weight

Lose weight

Preventing snoring is as good a reason as any for losing weight. Excess weight around the neck squeezes the throat which makes it more likely to collapse and cause the sound. As a bonus, exercise can help you to fall asleep faster and sleep deeper as well.

5. Try not to be overtired

If you are not well rested you can fall into a hard, deep sleep. It is important your sleep pattern be as normal as possible by passing through the various stages of sleep.

6. Change your pillows

Change your pillows

One reason for snoring is allergens or dust mites on your pillow. Start putting your pillows in the air-fluff cycle once a week and change your pillows every six months.

7. Bruxism or teeth grinding

Grinding the teeth at night – a condition known as bruxism – can force the tongue back into the throat and narrow the airway during sleep. Something as simple as a mouth guard can realign the bite, cushion the teeth and prevent the tongue from obstructing breathing at night.

If these lifestyle modifications above don’t work for you, then consult a medical professional who can analyze and deal with your specific problem.

Occasionally, this may involve surgery or special oral or nasal appliances provided by a doctor or dentist experienced in the treatment of snoring and sleep apnea.

If all else fails, there is still one tried and tested solution for your partner, at least.

Invest in a good set of earplugs!

10 Home Remedies To Cure Warts

There are over 100 types of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) which can cause warts. Those strains which are responsible for the common wart are relatively harmless, but others can give rise to more serious problems.

The problem with any virus based disease is that it can spread to different parts of the body, and can even be transferred to other people.

The medical ways for treating warts include surgical removal and various freezing techniques.

But for alternative methods you need look no further than your kitchen. While a number of the remedies shown below are classified by some as ‘old wives tales’ there is anecdotal evidence that they work.

Check them out and be sure to wash your hands well afterwards to keep the warts from spreading.

1. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar

This doesn’t actually kill the virus, but its high acidity attacks the “flesh” that makes up the wart, kills the wart itself, and allows it to peel naturally from the skin.
Simply soak a cotton ball in apple cider vinegar and apply it to the wart; secure it with a strip of gauze or cloth. The wart should die and come off within 1-2 weeks.

2. Milkweed

squeeze Milkweed

File your wart, or use a pumice stone to get it slightly exposed. Break a few leaves off the plant and squeeze the bottom of the stem to release the white sap. Apply to the wart and reapply as needed.

3. Bananas

inside of a banana peel

Bananas contain a proteolytic enzyme that eats away at the wart. Scrape the inside of a banana peel, and apply it to your wart twice a day. Repeat until the wart is gone.

4. Vitamin C

vitamin C tablet

Crush up 1 vitamin C tablet, and add enough lemon juice or water to make a paste. Apply to the wart, cover with a bandage and reapply daily.

5. Basil

crush fresh basil leaves

Basil has a multitude of anti-viral components. Just crush a handful of fresh, well-rinsed, basil leaves until they are soft. Apply to the wart, cover with a bandage or clean cloth, and reapply daily until the wart is gone. This could take up to two weeks.

6. Dandelions

Dandelions

Pull the head off of a dandelion and rub the milk onto the wart, then cover with a bandage. Do this twice daily until the wart is gone.

7. Honey

Organic Manuka honey

The best honey for this purpose is Organic Manuka honey from New Zealand as it is one of the most potent types of honey in terms of the concentration of its antibacterial/antiviral properties.
File away the wart and then cover it thoroughly in a thick layer of honey and wrap a piece of cloth around it. Leave it like this for 24 hours, changing the bandage and reapplying the honey daily.

8. Potato

apply Potato on wart

This is probably the best known ‘old wives tale’ remedy of all. Peel a potato, cut a round slice off and rub the slice on your wart 3 times a day. You can also bandage the potato to the over the wart and leave it on until the wart disappears. Change the bandage daily.

9. Pineapple Juice

Pineapple Juice

Pineapple juice softens the wart as it has a high level of acidity, and an enzyme in the juice to dissolve and eat away at the wart. Take care – it will sting at first!
2-3 times a day, soak your wart in pure pineapple juice for 3-5 minutes. Afterwards, pat the area completely dry.

10. Use a needle!

poke wart with the needle

Ice the wart until the area is numb. Hold a sharp needle over a flame to sterilize it. Push the tip well into the wart and poke the wart all over. Discard of the needle and wash your hands. Now that your body is alerted to the fact that there is a wart, the immune system should attack the virus that is causing the wart and destroy it.

Not every remedy will work with every type of virus, so you may need to try a few alternatives before finding the correct one.

15 Insights Into The Mind Of Lenin

Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov – better known as Lenin – was born in 1870 in Ulyanovsk, Russia and died in Gorki Leninskiye, Russia in 1924, aged 53.

He was a Russian communist revolutionary, politician, and political theorist who served as leader of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic from 1917, then concurrently as Premier of the Soviet Union from 1922 until his death.

He replaced the former Russian Empire with the Soviet Union; all wealth including land, industry and business was nationalized according to his political theories which, in turn, were based on the theories of Karl Marx.

In 1893 he was arrested for sedition and exiled to Siberia for three years. Later, he fled to Western Europe where he became known as a prominent party theorist. He encouraged violent insurrection and later campaigned for the First World War to be transformed into a Europe-wide proletariat revolution. After the Tsar was ousted, following the 1917 February Revolution, he returned to Russia.

Under his leadership both homosexuality and abortion were legalized, as was no-fault divorce. universal free healthcare, and free education.

Superficially, a Socialist paradise. So what went wrong?

Following Lenin’s death, the intrigue and in-fighting among the party leadership led to a power struggle which resulted in the faction led by Joseph Stalin gaining control. Those who opposed him were dealt with harshly.

The Soviet Union became a police state in every meaning of the word. The price for Socialist benefits was the elimination of any form of personal or political freedom. Countless millions were tortured and murdered to secure the framework of the state.

Nevertheless, Time Magazine named Lenin one of the 100 most important people of the 20th century, and one of their top 25 political icons of all time.

Lenin could be figuratively “spinning in his grave” had he seen what became of his legacy.

Think about that as you delve through our LifeDaily selection of aspects of Lenin’s ideology:

  1. One man with a gun can control 100 without one.
One man with a gun can control 100 without one
  2. The goal of socialism is communism.
  3. Fascism is capitalism in decay.
  4. Sometimes – history needs a push.
  5. A lie told often enough becomes the truth.
A lie told often enough becomes the truth
  6. Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted.
  7. The way to crush the bourgeoisie is to grind them between the millstones of taxation and inflation.
  8. No amount of political freedom will satisfy the hungry masses.
  9. It is true that liberty is precious; so precious that it must be carefully rationed.
    liberty must be carefully rationed
  10. The best way to destroy the capitalist system is to debauch the currency.
  11. There are no morals in politics; there is only expedience. A scoundrel may be of use to us just because he is a scoundrel.
  12. Our program necessarily includes the propaganda of atheism.
    propaganda of atheism
  13. If Socialism can only be realized when the intellectual development of all the people permits it, then we shall not see Socialism for at least five hundred years.
  14. Any cook should be able to run the country.
  15. When there is state there can be no freedom, but when there is freedom there will be no state.

There can be no doubt that, to some extent, the remnants of Lenin’s ideology still have some influence today.

On balance, do you think that is a power for good or evil? You can share your thoughts by using the comments feed provided below.

8 Natural Ways To Treat Colds

8 Natural Ways To Treat Colds

What we refer to as the common cold is actually a common viral infection in which the mucous membranes of the nose and throat become inflamed, typically causing a runny nose, sneezing, a sore throat, and other similar symptoms.

In spite of the most extraordinary advances in medical science, no cure has yet been found for colds or flu.

The over-the-counter remedies which you buy from the pharmacy only treat the symptoms. The common cold is the most frequent infectious disease in humans, with adults getting an average of two to three colds a year. For children that figure increases on average to between six and twelve. These infections have been with mankind since the beginning of recorded history.

Symptoms are primarily due to the response of the body’s immune system to the infection rather than to tissue destruction by the viruses themselves.

While most people seem to prefer propriety medicines, thus supporting a multi-billion dollar industry, there are a growing number who favor a more natural approach.

They are probably showing their agreement with the old adage that, with the right treatment, it is possible to cure a cold in one week. Without treatment it will take at least 7 days.

Think on that as you browse the list of natural treatments selected by our LifeDaily team:

1. Blow Your Nose Often And Correctly

Blow Your Nose

It’s important to blow your nose regularly when you have a cold rather than absorbing the mucus back into your head. The best way to blow your nose is to press a finger over one nostril while you blow gently to clear the other. Wash your hands after blowing your nose.

2. Stay Rested

Resting is critical when you first come down with a cold or the flu as it helps your body direct its energy toward the immune battle. This battle taxes the body so lying down under a cover is very helpful.

3. Gargle

Gargling moistens a sore throat which brings temporary relief. Use a teaspoon of salt dissolved in warm water, four times daily. To reduce the tickling sensation in your throat try an astringent gargle — such as tea that contains tannin — to tighten the membranes. Alternatively, use a thick, viscous gargle made with honey or a mixture of honey and apple cider vinegar. Don’t give honey to children under one-year-old.

4. Drink Plenty Of Hot Liquids

Drink Plenty Of Hot Liquids

Hot liquids relieve nasal congestion, help prevent dehydration, and soothe the uncomfortably inflamed membranes that line your nose and throat.

5. Take A Shower

Steamy showers moisturize your nasal passages and relax you. If you’re dizzy from the flu, run a steamy shower while you sit on a chair.

6. Sleep With An Extra Pillow Under Your Head

stay in bed with Extra Pillow

This helps with the drainage of nasal passages. If the angle is too awkward, try placing the pillows between the mattress and the box springs to create a more gradual slope.

7. Apply Hot or Cold Packs Around Your Congested Sinuses

You can make your own hot pack by taking a damp washcloth and heating it for up to a minute in a microwave. Be sure to test the temperature first to make sure it’s not scalding, For a cold pack, a small bag of frozen peas straight from the freezer is perfect.

8. If You Have The Choice – Don’t Fly

Flying with cold or flu congestion often hurts your eardrums as a result of pressure changes. If you must fly, use a decongestant and carry a nasal spray with you to use just before takeoff and landing. Chewing gum and swallowing frequently also helps relieve pressure.

Sometimes, serious conditions produce similar symptoms to those of the common cold. If you feel no improvement after two or three days then it’s important that you consult a medical professional.

Do you have a favorite remedy for dealing with colds and flu?

Do you believe in natural methods or do you feel safer with branded products?

12 Examples Of The Wit And Wisdom Of Harry S. Truman

Harry S. Truman, the 33rd President of the Unites States, was born in Lamar, Missouri in 1884, and died in Kansas City. Missouri in 1972 at the age of 88.

Truman became president on April 12, 1945 following the death of President Franklyn D. Roosevelt. Roosevelt was a hard act to follow, and Truman’s ascendency to the position was viewed with trepidation in many quarters.

Nevertheless, Truman took some monumental decisions, including the use of the first Atomic Bomb against Japan. Historical revisionism has caused that act to become controversial.

Although that action led to the ending of the Second World War, Truman had to deal with the aftermath of the conflict, particularly the increased tensions with the Soviet Union and the start of what was termed “the Cold War”.

During the First World War, Truman saw combat in France as an artillery officer. He was first elected to public office as a county official, and in 1935 became a U.S. senator. Truman contributed to the founding of the United Nations and issued the Truman Doctrine to contain communism. He was involved in the creation of NATO in 1949 and sent U.S. troops to defend South Korea after it was invaded by North Korea in 1950.

Assessments of Truman’s presidency were initially negative, but with the passage of time has come the realization that he was a good president who achieved much.

Browse these quotes of Harry S. Truman to understand a little about his wit and wisdom:

  1. A leader in the Democratic Party is a boss, in the Republican Party he is a leader.

15 Quotes From Samuel Goldwyn To Make You Scratch Your Head

Samuel Goldwyn was born Szmul Gelbfisz in Warsaw, Poland in 1879, and died in Los Angeles, California in 1974, aged around 94.

He is best known as a movie producer. Although he spent most of his life in the film industry he actually began working in the garment business where he became a successful glove salesmen for a New York based company, eventually serving as vice-president for sales.

Possibly due to the fact than English was not his mother tongue, Goldwyn was also known to make various errors of speech such as malapropisms, and paradoxes.

These eventually became known as ‘Goldwynisms’ which were defined as “A humorous statement or phrase resulting from the use of incongruous or contradictory words, situations, idioms, etc.”

In 1913, Samuel Goldwyn got into the film business through his brother-in-law, Jesse.S. Lansky. Together with Cecil B. DeMille and Arthur Friend they formed a partnership to produce feature length motion pictures. Thus began Goldwyn’s illustrious career which spanned some 60 years with a number of different companies.

Strangely enough he never had an operating role in M.G.M., the company that bore his name (the ‘G’ was for Goldwyn.)

Browse our selected list of “Goldwynisms” to understand what he did with the English Language:

  1. I’m willing to admit that I may not always be right, but I am never wrong.
I may not always be right, but I am never wrong
  2. If I look confused it is because I am thinking.
  3. Give me a smart idiot over a stupid genius any day.

  9. Don’t pay any attention to the critics – don’t even ignore them.
  10. The reason so many people turned up at his funeral is that they wanted to make sure he was dead.
  11. Include me out.
    Include me out
  12. Any man who goes to a psychiatrist ought to have his head examined.
  13. If I could drop dead right now, I’d be the happiest man alive.
  14. Pictures are for entertainment, messages should be delivered by Western Union.
  15. It’s absolutely impossible, but it has possibilities.

So, that was a short selection from the quirky English of Samuel Goldwyn.

Do you think he really understood what he was saying? Or was it part of the image he sought to create around himself?

15 Ernest Hemingway Quotes On War, Writing, And People

Ernest Miller Hemingway was born in 1899 in Oak Park, Illinois and committed suicide in Ketchum, Idaho in 1961. He was an American author and journalist whose economical and understated style of writing had a strong influence on much of 20th-century fiction.

He had much to say on many subjects but our LifeDaily team selected these quotes on the specific topics of war, writing, and people.

Hemingway produced most of his work between the mid-1920s and the mid-1950s, and won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1954. During his lifetime he published seven novels, six short story collections, and two non-fiction works. Additional works were published after his death.

He enlisted in World War I as an ambulance driver but in 1918, he was seriously wounded and returned home. His novel A Farewell to Arms was based on his wartime experiences.
Outside of writing, Hemingway led what could be termed a colorful life. He was married four times and worked as a foreign correspondent in Paris, was a journalist in the Spanish Civil War, and was present at the Normandy landings and the liberation of Paris.

In 1952 Hemingway went on safari to Africa, where he was almost killed in two successive plane crashes. He was left in pain or ill health for much of the rest of his life and committed suicide in the summer of 1961 at his home in Ketchum, Idaho.

  12. The world is a fine place and worth the fighting for and I hate very much to leave it.
The world is a fine place and worth the fighting for
  13. In modern war… you will die like a dog for no good reason.
  14. Once we have a war there is only one thing to do. It must be won. For defeat brings worse things than any that can ever happen in war.
  15. I never had to choose a subject – my subject rather chose me.

Of course, these quotes of Ernest Hemingway are only a small indication of his character.

During his lifetime his life style, especially his drinking, was legendary. How do you rate him as a writer? Do you have a favorite work of his?

12 Of The Most Hilarious Robin Williams Quotes Ever Said By The Late Comedian

Robin Williams quotes are probably the funniest quotes you can read on the internet these days

Robin Williams was probably one of the most, if not the most iconic comedians of all time. From his humble beginnings as a budding stand-up comedian in San Francisco, he finally rose to fame as the adorable and hysterical Mork from the 1978 TV series, Mork & Mindy.

Born Robin McLaurin Williams on July 21, 1951, he also enjoyed an illustrious acting career following his debut in the film Popeye in 1980.

After that movie, Robin Williams went on to star in a host of blockbuster films, such as The World According to Garp (1982); Good Morning, Vietnam (1987); Dead Poets Society (1989); Awakenings (1990); The Fisher King (1991); Aladdin (1992) and Good Will Hunting (1997).

As a tribute to Robin Williams, who committed suicide on August 11, 2014 at his home in Paradise Cay, Life Daily have complied a list of the 12 most hilarious Robin Williams quotes ever said:

1. Reddit AMA, 2013

Oh my god, Jack Nicholson. He once was with me at a benefit and leaned over and said ‘even oysters have enemies.’ In a very intense voice. I responded with, ‘Increase your dosage. Dana Carvey does my personal favorite impression of myself. It’s accurate. And kind.’

Robin Williams and Jack Nicholson impression

2. Reddit AMA, 2013

My children give me a great sense of wonder. Just to see them develop into these extraordinary human beings. And a favorite book as a child? Growing up, it was ‘The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe’ — I would read the whole C.S. Lewis series out loud to my kids. I was once reading to Zelda, and she said ‘don’t do any voices. Just read it as yourself.’ So I did, I just read it straight, and she said ‘that’s better.’

3. Runaway Vacation, 2006

Everyone has these two visions when they hold their child for the first time. The first is your child as an adult saying, ‘I want to thank the Nobel Committee for this award.’ The other is, ‘You want fries with that?’

4. The Los Angeles Times, 2014

You’re only given one little spark of madness. You mustn’t lose it.

Robin Williams little spark of madness

5. Time Magazine

Do you think God gets stoned? I think so… look at the platypus.

6. Parade, 2013

Comedy can be a cathartic way to deal with personal trauma.

7. Dead Poets Society, 1989

Carpe. Hear it? Carpe. Carpe diem. Seize the day, boys. Make your lives extraordinary.

Dead-poets-society-robin-williams-carpe-diem

8. Dead Poets Society, 1989

O Captain, my Captain. Who knows where that comes from? Anybody? Not a clue? It’s from a poem by Walt Whitman about Mr. Abraham Lincoln. Now in this class you can either call me Mr. Keating, or if you’re slightly more daring, ‘O Captain my Captain.

9. Mork & Mindy, 1978

He stole your necklace, he stole your ribs, he’s obviously not kosher.

Mork and Mindy-He stole your necklace

10. Mrs. Doubtfire, 1993

Oh, sir. I saw it! Some angry member of the kitchen staff. Did you not tip them? Oh, the terrorists! They ran that way. It was a run-by fruiting. I’ll get them, sir. Don’t worry.

11. Mrs. Doubtfire, 1993

My first day as a woman and I’m getting hot flashes.

mrs-doubtfire-hot-flashes-robin-williams

12. Good Will Hunting, 1997

You don’t know about real loss beacuse it only occurs when you’ve loved something more than you love yourself. I doubt you’ve ever dared to love anybody that much.

Perhaps, in light of the tragic and untimely death of one of the world’s most loved comedians, quote number 4, said by Robin Williams to the Los Angeles Times is the most apt in the above list.

Then again, perhaps it was that very madness in the Robin Williams quote above which led to his death as it was widely suspected that despite his happy outward demeanour, Williams suffered from extreme depression.

12 Of The Most Famous George W. Bush Quotes Ever Uttered In Public

George W. Bush was as loved as he was hated during his tenure as the 43rd President of America from 2001 to 2009.

Born on July 6, 1946, George Walker Bush became a politician and businessman, starting his political career as the 46th Governor of Texas from 1995 to 2000.

When he entered the White House, Bush had big shoes to fill as his father George Bush had been president before him.

But was he up to the job?

The junior George wasn’t quite as savvy as his father and certainly not as eloquent or literate.

As such, George W. is remembered for making some outrageous statements in public, during his presidential speeches and otherwise, and we at Life Daily felt it was high-time to share 12 of the best with you. Purely for entertainment value obviously.

So sit back and enjoy a trip down memory lane with these famous George W. Bush quotes:

1. President’s Economic Forum in Waco, Texas, Aug. 13, 2002

I promise you I will listen to what has been said here, even though I wasn’t here.

George W. Bush I will listen

2. Gothenburg, Sweden, June 14, 2001

We spent a lot of time talking about Africa, as we should. Africa is a nation that suffers from incredible disease.

3. White House menorah lighting ceremony, Washington, D.C., Dec. 10, 2001

I couldn’t imagine somebody like Osama bin Laden understanding the joy of Hanukkah.

4. CBS News’ interview with Katie Couric, Sept. 6, 2006

You know, one of the hardest parts of my job is to connect Iraq to the war on terror.

George W. Bush interview with Katie Couric

5. As quoted in Bob Woodward’s Bush at War

I’m the commander — see, I don’t need to explain — I do not need to explain why I say things. That’s the interesting thing about being president.

6. Greater Nashua, N.H., Chamber of Commerce, Jan. 27, 2000

I know how hard it is for you to put food on your family.

7. As quoted by the New York Daily News, April 23, 2002

This foreign policy stuff is a little frustrating.

george-bush-foreign policy stuff

8. At the 2000 Al Smith dinner

This is an impressive crowd — the haves and the have mores. Some people call you the elite — I call you my base.

9. Greece, N.Y., May 24, 2005

See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda.

10. Rome, Italy, July 22, 2001

I know what I believe. I will continue to articulate what I believe and what I believe — I believe what I believe is right.

Obama-Bush-what I believe is right

11. Washington, D.C., Sept. 19, 2002

People say, how can I help on this war against terror? How can I fight evil? You can do so by mentoring a child; by going into a shut-in’s house and say I love you.

12. Washington, D.C., June 18, 2002

I just want you to know that, when we talk about war, we’re really talking about peace.

Despite the fact that George W. Bush could often barely string a sentence together, and when he did it was usually outrageous or borderline non-sensical, he enjoyed some notable success during his tenure as president.

If nothing else, it just goes to prove that despite one’s education level or experience, anyone can become the President of the united States, as the current president Barack Obama testifies to.

10 Of The Most Meaningful Marilyn Monroe Quotes To Make You Think

Marilyn Monroe quotes are much deeper and more meaningful than you might think.

Many people know exactly who Marilyn Monroe was in her life and what she achieved. But not many people know that her birth name was no way near as sexy as her stage name.

Born on June 1, 1926, as Norma Jeane Mortenson, a name she thankfully changed when she started getting famous, Marilyn Monroe was a talented singer and model as well as being a successful actress and sex symbol.

Having grown up predominantly in foster homes, Monroe began her modelling career early in the 1940′s and secured her first movie contract with Twentieth Century Fox in 1946.

Despite her “dumb blonde” persona, Marilyn Monroe was smart and savvy, as the quotes below testify to.

Monroe’s “dumb blondeness” served her well in her career, although people who were close to the Hollywood starlet knew that, probably due to her hard life growing up, she was no fool.

Before her tragic death in 1962, aged just 32, Marilyn Monroe received a Golden Globe Award for her 1959 performance in the classic film, Some Like It Hot.

We hope you enjoy the Marilyn Monroe quotes that we at Life Daily have compiled for you today:

I’m selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.

I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure

I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they’re right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

everything happens for a reason

Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.

As you can now see for yourself, Marilyn Monroe had a serious brain in her head, as well as a stunning head on her shoulders. The fact that she is also famous for meaningful life quotes is just an additional credit to her.

10 Prince Charles Quotes That Will Make You Feel Ever So British

Prince Charles quotes are just what you need if you are in the mood for feeling “ever so British.”

Prince Charles, born Charles Philip Arthur George on 14 November 1948, also enjoys the positions of the Duke of Rothesay in Scotland, as well as the Duke of Cornwall in South West England, among other honors.

Before we get to the quotes, you may be interested to read that Prince Charles is in fact the longest-serving heir to the throne in British history, having been so since 1952.

Having married Princess Diana in 1981, Charles has two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, and one grandson, Prince George, with another royal baby on the way soon.

Prince Charles quotes are possibly the most quintessentially British thing in the world, as you will read for yourselves.

There’s just something about Prince Charles that makes him the most British thing ever, from his rosy complexion to his bumbling British accent, for some people the future King of England is more like a cartoon character than a real person.

Nevertheless, Prince Charles is very real, and is a big proponent of extensive charity work which he carries out tirelessly in his capacity as one of the most influential members of the British royal family.

So without further a do, here is today’s Life Daily list of the most British Prince Charles quotes ever recited,

1. On the planned extension to the National Portrait Gallery, May 30 1984.

What is proposed is like a monstrous carbuncle on the face of a much-loved and elegant friend.

National Portrait Gallery a monstrous carbuncle
2. Parliamentary and Scientific Committee, February 21 1979.

I have not the slightest hesitation in making the observation that much of British management doesn’t seem to understand the importance of the human factor.

3. Interview with Gavin Hewitt, 1988.

I thought the British people were supposed to be compassionate. I don’t see much of it.

British people were supposed to be compassionate
4. British Medical Association’s 150th anniversary, December 1982.

I would suggest that the whole imposing edifice of modern medicine, for all its breathtaking successes, is like the celebrated Tower of Pisa, slightly off balance.

5. Private letter, September 27 1987.

Relationships with fathers can be such complex ones … So often, I suppose one must long to have got on better or to have been able to talk freely about the things that matter deeply, but one was too inhibited to discuss.

6. Discussing dancing in an interview with Australian Women’s Weekly, 2013.

I think given half a chance… the old one-two and the two-step can come in handy.

7. Private letter, January 31 1969.

Any excuse to escape from Cambridge and plod across ploughed fields instead of stagnating in lecture rooms is enormously welcome.

8. British architecture, December 11 1987.

In the space of a mere 15 years in the sixties and seventies … the planners, architects and developers of the City wrecked the London skyline and desecrated the dome of St Paul’s.

9. Private letter March 31, 1987.

The trouble is I always feel that unless I rush about doing things and trying to help furiously I will not (and the monarchy will not) be seen to be relevant and I will be considered a mere playboy!

10. Private letter, May 1, 1989.

I hope you receive this before some frightful undercover agent stabs me in the left buttock with a poisoned umbrella!

There are of course many more controversial Prince Charles quotes than the ones in this list. But Charles always remained appropriate, no matter what he said, even if he take things “close to the bone” on occasion.

The 10 Dumbest Barack Obama Quotes Ever Said Will Make You Wonder

These Barack Obama quotes won’t just make you think, they’ll make you wonder…

We assume already that you know what we’re getting at when we say that the dumbest ever Barack Obama quotes ever said in public in this list will make you wonder just how Barack Hussein Obama II ever became the president of America.

Born on August 4, 1961, Obama is currently the 44th president of the Unites States and the first African-American to have ever held office.

Having come from an illustrious educational background, graduating from Columbia University and Harvard Law School, where he served as president of the Harvard Law Review, Obama rose to the position of president in a most unexpected and surprising way.

It’s astounding to think that a man like Barack Obama, who has said the quotes he has said in public, could rise to be President of America.

Having began his presidential campaign in 2007 and, after a close primary campaign against Hillary Clinton in 2008, Obama was amazingly able to to win sufficient delegates in the Democratic Party primaries to receive the presidential nomination.

He then defeated Republican nominee John McCain in the general election, and was inaugurated as president on January 20, 2009.

Check out these Barack Obama quotes for yourself and see what you make of them:

I have become a symbol of the possibility of America returning to our best traditions.

I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on earth. This was the moment — this was the time — when we came together to remake this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves and our highest ideals.

It’s very rare that I come to an event where I’m like the fifth- or sixth-most interesting person.

12 Quotes On War And Honor From Douglas MacArthur

Douglas MacArthur was born in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1880 and died in Washington D.C. In 1964 at the age of 84.

He became a five-star general and was Chief of Staff of the United States Army during the 1930s and played a prominent role in the Pacific theater during World War II.

MacArthur officially accepted Japan’s surrender on 2 September 1945, and oversaw the occupation of Japan from 1945 to 1951.

As the effective ruler of Japan, he was responsible for sweeping economic, political and social changes.

His illustrious career spanned a period of 36 years 1914 to 1951 starting with fighting the Mexican Revolution and ending with a somewhat ignominious dismissal by President Harry Truman in 1951 during the war in Korea.

MacArthur was always a somewhat flamboyant figure with a penchant for personal publicity. His attitude to ending the Korean War was simply too extreme for the president.
