The transformative power of makeup is making headlines again.
Currently, our culture is absorbed with makeup and the power that can come with it. Rather than makeup making headlines this time for feminist issues, it is being used in connection with a more surrealist slant. A Middle East-based artist who goes by the name Saint Hoax has been using a combination of makeup and terrific photoshop skills to make Hollywood power couples look like each other.
The short clip, which was shared to the artist’s Instagram page, begins with a headshot of the iconic rapper’s face. Makeup is then applied liberally to his features, with dark contour lines used to emphasize the angles. A photoshopped hand and brush then wipes the image together to create a perfect Kim and Kanye blend into a whole image.
Talk about the two becoming one:
The artist applied the same technique to Hollywood power couple Brangelina:
Let’s not forget Queen Bey and JayZ:
And while Nikki Minaj and Drake aren’t dating, they certainly have an interesting dynamic, as displayed here:
So what is this modern day surrealist trying to say?
Well, according to the artist’s Instagram, Saint Hoax is a PoPlitically incorrect artist and sociopolitical activist. The apparent patron saint of hoax’s described their work on a website stating that is was “an embedded infatuation with pop culture and politics” that drove their vision.
The artist continued by saying, ‘Hoax combines tangible and digital mediums to create beautiful visual lies that tell an ugly truth,’ according to Daily Mail.
