If you plan on spending any quality time with your family and friends this holiday season, it’s important to take a moment to reflect on just how lucky you are to have that opportunity.
There are plenty of people around the world who would do just about anything to get home for the holidays and spend the special day with the loved ones they miss.
Then there are some folks like this single mom who posted an ad on Craigslist for a family to take her and her baby in, so they wouldn’t spend the holiday alone.
However, I always try to remember our nation’s heroes around this time of year.
People tend to forget how hard it must be for our military men and women to be so far away from home…and how tough it is for the people missing them during the holiday season. As you can see in this touching ad, the holidays can be pretty lonely when you miss your hero.
That’s why the following heart-melting video has been going viral since it was posted on YouTube by Tennessee news station ClarksvilleNow.
In the video, we see Mom and her two little girls visiting Santa Claus at a local shopping center. You can’t help but notice that someone is missing and once Santa asks the girls what they want for Christmas, the oldest daughter’s response is utterly heartbreaking
“I want my daddy to come home,” the little girl tells Santa. Normally, this would probably crush the employee and the child’s parent, but this Santa and Mom had been planning a special surprise all along.
What happens next is guaranteed to put you in the holiday spirit and fill your heart with joy!
It’s wonderful to know that this soldier gets to spend the holidays with his girls, but let’s remember all of the amazing men and women fighting overseas for our country during this special time of year.
