Ellen DeGeneres is known for her ability to make people laugh without ever having to bring anyone down, and for using her name and platform for spreading love and kindness.
In fact, over the years, Ellen has raised over $50 million dollars for charities, schools, natural disaster survivors, and regular people needing a helping hand. Her work has touched so many lives that she even earned a humanitarian award, yet she explains that kindness, which is her driving force for her work, is an innate quality that we all share as humans.
“I started out as a comedian, and I wanted to make people happy and I wanted to make people laugh. This has turned into something so much better for me that I get to change people’s lives,” Ellen said.

“It’s a little strange to actually get an award for being nice and generous and kind, which is what we’re all supposed to do with one another. That’s the point of being a human,” Ellen said after joking about her work.
