Jonathan Walker is used to singing on the streets, as he has been a busker for many years.

While walking through Leeds, England on New Years Eve, Jonathan recognized a homeless man in a wheelchair whom he has seen many times before. He described the man as one whose health and wellbeing have seemed to deteriorate over the past couple of years. The homeless man, whose name is Bernard Davey asked if he could join Jonathan for a song, and what happened next was something no one was expecting!

The two sang a version of Summertime, and Walker was so blown away by Davey’s incredible voice, he asked a passerby to capture the moment on his camera. Walker uploaded the video to his YouTube and said:

“My spontaneous street jam with Bernard Davey was a soul-affirming, enriching experience which summed up everything I love about street culture. The streets are full of wonderful surprises and stories. I hope Bernard’s amazing improvised version of ‘Summertime’ helps people to remember not to judge people they see on the streets according to their appearances, but to always look below the surface appearance and find the person underneath.”

This is not a video to be missed, as the moment we heard Davey’s voice we were completely blown away. We could compare it to Ted Williams, the former homeless man with the “golden” radio voice, because Davey’s singing voice is that good.

This should be a lesson for all of us that we should never judge a book by its cover because there’s so much more we don’t know.

Please watch this truly incredible and unexpected performance and SHARE it with your friends and family on Facebook!
