Man Incubates Supermarket Quail Eggs For Fun, Is Shocked When One Hatches

It’s something I don’t exactly like to think about when purchasing my farm fresh eggs from the store, but I’ll admit that the thought about where my omelet actually came from has crossed my mind…

We recently shared this story about what the color of an egg’s yolk actually means – and the truth completely surprised us. However, nothing could have prepared me for the following shocking story out of the Netherlands.

Dutch man Alwyn Wils decided to try a little experiment with some regular old quail eggs he bought from the supermarket, he never expected to get the result he received…or that his story would go viral all over the world.

In the video below, we see how Wils decided to place 12 store bought quail eggs in an incubator. After just a little over two weeks in the incubator, one of the eggs seems to miraculously hatch. Although we have no way of telling this video is 100% real, Discovery News reports that this phenomenon of supermarket eggs hatching is possible.

While the majority of eggs purchased from a hen farm are unfertilized, there are rare occasions when a hen mates with a rooster, resulting in a fertilized egg in your basket. Whether the video is real or not, little quail baby Albert could not be any cuter!
