Trust me, you’ve heard this one before, and it wasn’t on the radio.

Here’s a quick lesson in the biology of bird vocals: cockatiels are of the parrot family and while they can impressively mimic the sounds around them, they are much better with whistles and chirps than they are with words.

“Their whistles and other mimicking sounds such as ‘lip-smacking’ and ‘tutting’ are almost perfect imitations of the sounds their owners make,” according to that trusty source called Wikipedia.

Now, while I’m sure you find the vocal patterns of birds fascinating, here’s something even better that you didn’t see coming. One cockatiel, who we know only as Rickie Bird, thanks to the Youtuber who posted the following video, found something to mimic that is probably driving her owner crazy.

It’s bad enough he hears this sound going off a hundred times a day, but the last thing he wants is his bird to fake him out. But, that’s exactly what this intelligent and very beautiful bird learned how to do.

She’s such a pro she could probably be on Broadway. Check it out in the video below, and don’t forget to SHARE with a bird-lover in your life:
