Catherine St. Germain is a brave mom who’s shocking Facebook post has gone viral for it’s powerful, although harrowing message.

Aaron Scott came into the single mom’s life after a tough breakup and made her feel incredibly happy, and most importantly safe. After being friends with Scott for about 20 years, the Loveland, Colorado mom felt like she was getting a fresh new start and a second chance in life.

From the outside, Scott seemed to be a man of honor. A U.S. Navy veteran and former cop, he had already been a father three times before marrying Catherine and becoming step-dad to her 15-year-old daughter.

But about 10 months after her blissful wedding day, Catherine’s world came crashing down, getting a phone call from the police station where her daughter was waiting. Her “perfect” new husband had sexually assaulted his new stepdaughter, but instead of being ashamed and frightened like many victims, the teenager bravely reported her attacker.

Now, just like her daughter, Catherine St. Germain has chosen to speak out during her extremely difficult time, in hopes that no family will ever have to go through the pain and suffering that she did.

The mom’s message is clear and although her situation is unique, every parent should hear it. People warn their kids of “stranger danger,” like in this social experiment, but the truth is that more often than not children are abused by people they know and trust.
