5-Year-Old Captures Touching Moment Mom Cradles His Baby Sister

To her legion of loyal Facebook fans, Kelli Bannister is known as The Barefoot Mum, but to her kids, she’s simply mommy.

Bannister is a professional photographer who shares moments of her life with her husband and two kids on The Barefoot Mum blog and Facebook page and as we can see in the following story, the apple clearly doesn’t fall far from the tree.

A recent photo posted by Bannister has gone viral, but it’s not one of her professionally shot ones. The completely candid moment between the mom and her 20-month-old baby girl Summer was captured on camera by 5-year-old big brother Taj.

“I was debating whether or not to post this, but this is real, raw, and one of the absolute worst parts of Motherhood that at some stage, we will all go through!!” Bannister wrote on Facebook. Baby Summer was sick and the mom of three would have done anything to make her youngest feel better. She decided to sit with her in a warm bath, hoping to soothe her with the sound of running water, when Taj snapped the beautiful, powerful photo on her phone.

“Every cry and every tear makes your heart break just that little bit more and your only wish is that it was you instead,” Bannister continued. “I haven’t slept in days and am physically & mentally exhausted myself, but as all Mums do, we keep going!”

The photo has been shared thousands of times on Facebook, causing countless other moms around the world to chime in about the special moment between mother and daughter. “Such a raw emotive moment of Motherhood in all her glory……messy bun and all!!,” Bannister said before thanking everyone who liked the photo and revealing her baby girl is doing much better.
