One 23-year-old woman had a terrifying experience while swimming in the ocean on Sunday.
The woman, whose name has not been released, was rushed to the hospital after being bitten by a 2-foot-long nurse shark at Boca Raton beach. The shark latched onto the woman’s arm after biting her as she tried to swim away.
While bystanders tried to remove the shark from the woman’s arm, someone snapped a photo of the horrifying picture.

A beachgoer named Shlomo Jacob told the Sun-Sentinel,
“The shark wouldn’t give up. It was barely breathing but it wasn’t letting go of her arm, like it was stuck to her or something.”
The girl was apparently antagonizing the shark in the water, and one swimmer even saw her holding the shark by its tail. While nurse sharks are usually harmless to humans, that can change if they’re provoked. They have thousands of tiny teeth, which was probably why it was difficult to remove the shark from her arm.

When emergency personnel finally arrived, the woman was taken to the hospital with the shark still attached to her arm! Authorities had to use a splint board to support her arm (and the shark) as she lay on the stretcher. After being transported to Boca Raton Regional Hospital, the woman was reported to be in stable condition and is in the process of being released.

Had you ever had an experience like this with a nurse shark being that they’re common in offshore Florida waters?
