When Francine Lubbe and her partner embarked on a camping trip, an up-close encounter with lions was not something they were expecting.
The couple was camping in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in Botswana when Lubbe recorded the video of two lions licking their tent. They were on the Khiding campsite, which an area in the preserve that is famous for frequent visits from lions.
It had been raining that night, and when Lubbe woke up to two adult lions licking water off the outside of her tent, she nearly lost it! She was able to stay calm long enough to capture the stunning video, and take numerous photos.
Luckily, the lions completely ignored the couple and all they seemed to want, was to like the outside of their tent.
Lubbe took to Facebook to write about her experience:
“What a privilege. It rained during the night and 3 lioness licking the water from the tent,” she said.
