We’ve seen so many videos of elephants being mistreated, so it’s really nice to see one as beautiful and innocent as this.
In Thailand, at the Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai, a caretaker named Lek Chailert, has a very sweet relationship with an elephant named Faamai.
In the incredible video below, posted by the Save The Elephant Foundation, the elephant is seen pulling Chailert in with her trunk for a hug.
Then, the caretaker begins to gently swat Faamai with a pink sweater, and Faamai drops to the ground and lies on her side.
Chailert starts to sing a lullaby, and Faamai seems instantly relaxed and coils up her trunk.
Chailert then lays on the ground beside Faamai and rests her head on the elephant.
The foundation posted on their YouTube:
“Even though Faamai is a big elephant, every time she hears the lullaby from Lek she still falls asleep.”
Lek’s rapport with elephants is certainly apparent. Look at her in the photo below with some of the other elephants she cares for.
