It’s every new parent’s worst nightmare to see their infant suffering and not be able to do anything to help them.
Parents will go to great lengths to try and help their little ones, but unfortunately, like in the case of Stephanie Smith and her newborn son Isaiah Quinn, sometimes they are left with more questions than answers.
Baby Isaiah first started having skin flare-ups and developing red and raw rashes when he was just around three months old, as first reported by The Mirror. After noticing it occurred when Isaiah was exposed to people wearing perfume or clothing with traces of fabric softener, 35-year-old mom Stephanie brought her baby to countless doctors who advised over-the-counter topical steroids.
“But all the doctors I took him to just said it was eczema. They told me to stop breastfeeding him as the milk protein could make it worse.”

At 5 months old, Isaiah was rushed to the hospital. The baby boy was in constant pain, with his skin red, raw and seemingly melting away before his mom’s eyes. That’s when Smith decided to trust her motherly instincts and stopped the topical steroid, going against dozens of doctors’ advice, knowing it was making her son’s condition far worse.
For the next year, Smith and Isaiah were homebound, as she eased her baby’s pain in lukewarm baths and experimented with different homeopathic balms. Finally, they started to see a difference with a combination of lemongrass and zinc.
“We saw 35 doctors altogether. They all said it was eczema. I want to show them all the photos showing how Isaiah’s skin cleared up,” Smith said.
