Parents try their best to keep their children safe and never intentionally put their kids in harm’s way, but it can hard to always get things right when there are so many different opinions on what’s best for kids.
When it comes to car safety, most parents know that babies and small children have to use car seats to keep them safe in case of an accident, however, many don’t know that they could be putting their little ones in danger by not using them correctly.
In order to spread awareness of how dangerous it can be to misuse car seats, mom Ashley Kulm shared the picture below, which has since been shared nearly 20,000 times. “A nice visual as to WHY chest clip placement is so important,” Kulm wrote.
“Mr. Bones here is demonstrating on the left why his chest clip sucks. He would have internal bleeding to his vital organs. Mr. Bones on the right has the chest clip properly placed and his organs protected by his rib cage. Please place your child’s chest clip properly with the top of the chest clip being at armpit level.”
Kulm regularly shares safety information about car seats and has even started a Facebook page to educate parents that placing chest clips too high could result in strangling, and placing it too low could cause organ damage, internal bleeding, or even eject the child from the car.
