Law enforcement officials are used to stumbling upon strange and bizarre oddities, but on August 15, police came across something in a man’s freezer that really made them scratch their heads.
This story comes from Indonesia when neighbors got suspicious about five large freezers found on a man’s property. What they discovered, shocked them.
Inside the freezers were 657 critically endangered pangolins, a shy nocturnal creature, who curls up into a ball when frightened.
The sweet and shy demeanor of the kind animals means nothing to those who traffick these creatures for their meat and scales. In some parts of the world. pangolin is considered to be a delicacy. While in other areas of the far East, pangolin scales are rumored to have medicinal value. Even their leather is used to make boots, making the other rather poor for these unfortunate creatures.

The Indonesian man was caught with 657 frozen pangolins in his freezer. With that level of involvement, this means he could face up to five years in prison along with a pretty hefty fine.
The man however, claims that the endangered animals didn’t belong to him. He claims he was simply storing them for a friend.
