As any dog owner knows, picking out a dog is kind of like finding your partner. You don’t actually choose them, but when you see them, you just know you’re meant for each other.
And when one Oklahoma woman saw an ad in the newspaper for a white puppy with amber eyes, she knew she was meant to take him home and called the breeder right away. The newspaper described the $300 pup as ‘super socialized’ but also explained that he was part wolf.
Despite the puppy’s lineage, the woman decided to bring the pup, who she named Trigger, back to her home. At first, everything seemed normal since all puppies are extremely energetic and untrained, however, by the time Trigger was 5 months old, she realized Trigger was pretty much full wolf.
“She loved the little pup and had a very strong bond with him; however, after doing extensive research on wolf dogs, she realized that Trigger would never be happy or healthy in her home,” the sanctuary said.
“Trigger had already eaten part of a wall and she was forced to keep him in a wire kennel in her bedroom while she was at work,” the sanctuary explained. Trigger’s owner couldn’t bear to keep him locked up all day and wanted what was best for him, so she found him a better home at the W.O.L.F. Sanctuary in Colorado.
