As I grow older, I’m beginning to see that everything happens for a reason and despite my impatience, things only happen when the time is right.
Unfortunately, restraint has never been one of my talents. When I want something, I usually want it right now. If you’re anything like me, we could both take a lesson from the incredibly patient Claudette Cook, who has been waiting 60 years to become a mother.
Doctors told this new mom that she would never have children of her own. Too much time had passed and she missed that boat, but the Indiana woman didn’t lose hope. She said she waited a long time to meet her husband Ross just nine years ago, and she was willing to wait for her babies too.
Earlier this week, Claudette had that prayer answered, when she gave birth to healthy twins.
“Isaiah came out first, and Isaac came out second,” said Claudette. “I cried. I was like, you know, you look at TV and you see other people in the delivery room and you’re like, oh my goodness. And, it was me. So, joy, it was so sweet. Everything changed in that moment. Once they’re born, your life changes.”
Claudette and her husband say this was God answering their prayers. It only happens when the time is right.
“Age is but a number with God. Plus, I was healthy and in shape. I was like, yes, I know I can do this-I know I can. No matter how hard it was, He brought me through it all, so, awesome God,” Claudette told local media.
