A volunteer firefighter just became a hero after he rushed into the burning home of a couple he’d never met to save their trapped dog.

Tim Tawater says he was driving by the home when he saw the fire. Neighbors were frantic, screaming and searching for help while they waited for firefighters to arrive. The owners animals were inside the house, including an 85-pound dog.

Neighbors tried to lure the dog out, but he wouldn’t budge from his spot inside the home.

He was too scared to run through the flames. At the window, neighbors saw the trapped animal, but again, they couldn’t get at him. The window was closed and breaking the glass was not a possibility.

This is when Tim arrived. He saw the commotion and rushed inside the house. He pulled the dog from inside, wrapped him in a blanket, and rushed the animal out to the front yard.
