When Colorado birth photographer and videographer Sarah Boccolucci had the opportunity to document Baby Levon being born, she had no idea how emotional the experience would be.

When Jessica Li gave birth to Leon on September 18th, her fiancé, Cagney Wenk, was also being treated in the same hospital for an aggressive type of stage four cancer. Cagney had been experiencing headaches for three days and had been diagnosed with glioblastoma in his brain just three weeks before Jessica’s due date.

Since then, he’s undergoing many treatments, which include a biopsy, and craniotomy, which is a surgical procedure in which part of the skull was temporarily removed to relieve pressure. He is still undergoing radiation and chemotherapy and will finish in less than five weeks.

While Cagney was still in the ICU, nurses decided they wanted to do something special for the expecting family, so they reached out to Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, an organization that provides remembrance photography to parents suffering the loss of a baby, to take photos of Cagney and his newborn.

Sarah Boccoulucci volunteered her services as a photographer, and she even documented Levon’s birth. “The video was really for the family to have it as a memory of a magical moment,” Boccoulucci said. “I think the video shows it all with their reactions. There were so many tears, emotions and so much LOVE!”. Sarah posted the video to her Facebook to share the couple’s story and encourage viewers to donate to their GiveForward Fundraising campaign

“There is a point during the birth where Cagney tells Jessica that they are surrounded by all the love in the world right now,” she told HuffPost. “It is my hope that people will see the video, feel the love this family shares, and help lift them up and make a donation if they are able.”

“My hope is that the family gets all the support they can and remain hopeful that Cagney will beat this cancer,” Boccolucci continues.
