San Diego police officers have reunited a father and son after the child was found walking along Interstate 15 during a busy rush hour commute.

The boy was going northbound I-15 near Miramar Way at 7:23am on Friday while he was supposed to be staying with his father. Apparently, the 10-year-old boy became upset about something and left his dad’s house in his pajamas and headed towards the freeway.

“He was upset with the current situation and he was trying to go, I believe it was to his mother’s house,” said Sgt. Elmer Edwards with the San Diego Police Department. When police saw the boy roaming the highway, they approached him and he told them he was heading towards San Francisco. It became apparent to officers the boy was trying to run away.

Luckily, he cooperated with the San Diego Police Department and got into the car when they asked him, but he was noticeably upset. “The child was distraught so they did everything they could to keep him calm,” said  Sgt. Edwards. From there, offers waited with him until his father arrived.

Can you believe how dangerous of a situation this boy put himself in? Has your child ever ran away?
