When a Detroit family moved from their home, they didn’t bother to take the most important commodity with them; the family dog.

It’s so hard to think that somebody could just leave a loving animal behind, but that’s what happened to poor Boo. A heartbreaking photo has been hurting hearts on social media, showing Boo patiently waiting for his owners to return home and love him again.

Mike Diesel of Detroit Youth & Dog Rescue found Boo laying down alone outside on a mattress next to a pile of trash. He patiently sat like this for more than a month.

Neighbor say his family, “came back one time, took the belongings that they chose to keep. Unfortunately, that wasn’t Boo.”

Lucky for Boo, the neighbors stepped up to feed the dog and spread the word that he was in need of a loving home. With time, Mike and his rescue organization found Boo and took on that necessary role. It wasn’t an easy road, however. Simply gaining the dog’s trust took Mike more than 15 hours. However, once Boo trusted Mike, it became a fast road of love and recovery.

“Dogs are the most loyal,” Mike said. “If we can get humans to be anywhere close to that level of compassion then we would have a much better world.”

Mike was the one who gave Boo his name after her brought the pit bull mix to Groesbeck Animal Hospital. He said from a certain angle, the markings on the dog form an outline of the word, ‘BOO.’

Boo with be cared for by vets for the next 30 days. Then, he will hopefully have a loving foster family to take him in. If you are interested, please contact Detroit Youth & Dog Rescue.

And if you can’t take Boo in, please SHARE this story and spread the word about the happy dog, his inspiring loyalty, and the loving home he needs.
