Mom Who Suffered 16 Miscarriages Loses Miracle Baby To Meningitis

A woman who has suffered an unheard of 16 miscarriages, suddenly lost her 15-month-old to an unexpected case of meningitis that took only six hours to kill her daughter.

Now, the distraught mom is speaking out about the severity and rapid progression of the disease. This past April, Fleur-Rose, daughter of Lizzie Allen, awoke upset and with a temperature at her home in Bridgnorth, Shropshire, UK. Just days earlier, the toddler was happy, healthy, and taking her first steps.

“At 1pm on the day we lost her, she was sat on her daddy Matt’s knee, grinning away. By 6pm she was taken to the hospital’s resuscitation department. At 11.04pm she was dead.”

Around the middle of the day, Fleur-Rose began, but doctors who were closely monitoring her oxygen levels, said all was fine. They performed X-Rays on her chest, took samples, poked and prodded: all was fine according to doctors.

It was only at the end of the day that the first sign of a slight rash appeared on Fleur-Rose’s neck. “I just shouted to Matt, ‘Go and get a nurse.’ But moments later it had gone and there were only tiny pinprick marks.”

Around 5:30, doctors took the little girl into a side room to get samples of her waters. They then decided to test for Meningitis, which terrified Lizzie. It was the first time the disease had been mentioned all day, but it was a quick decline of deterioration afterward. Neither the doctors, nor her frantic parents, could do anything to prevent the worst from happening.

Now, the mom wants parents everywhere to know the symptoms and be aware of just how severe Meningitis can be. Babies with meningitis experience fever, refusing to eat, fretfulness, difficulty waking, skin rash and bruising high-pitched crying, pale and blotchy skin.
