Halloween is supposed to be a day where kids can be whatever or whoever they want and enjoy some well-deserved sweets after spending hours scouring their neighborhoods for candy.
Unfortunately, many concerned parents are now considering throwing out their children’s candy entirely after finding dangerous or tampered candy within their child’s Halloween bags. Yesterday, parents from Princeton, Illinois were horrified to find their children had been given candy laced with marijuana.
At first, a few parents were concerned when they saw an unfamiliar candy wrapper inside their children’s candy bags, and when they looked closer, they realized the wrapper appeared to have marijuana leaves printed on the outside. They immediately notified police about the suspicious candy, which tested positive for marijuana.
“It makes you angry and think what else isn’t safe then? You don’t think that would happen in a little town,” says Michelle Kepner. Dad Drew Wilson always makes sure to check his children’s candy, but never thought to look out for something like candy laced with drugs. “We make sure there are no holes in it and if there’s any we throw it out,” Drew said. “If it’s meant to be a joke, it’s not funny. Marijuana for kids? That’s an adult decision.”
