For almost two years no one could catch the Polish cow named Matylda, and she might as well have been known as runaway cow..
Matylda ran away from her owner’s farm in Zloty Stok in 2013, as she yearned for more adventurous times.
She rampaged across the countryside and left a trail of destroyed crops in her wake, accumulating a few scars and losing a baby calf in the process.
Luckily for Matylda the winters were weak, because if they weren’t, she probably would not have survived.
She become a “master of survival.”
Matylda’s owner Leszek Zasada explained that he set an elaborate series of traps for the cow, but nearly all of them failed.
“We tried to chase her on horseback and also with dogs but it didn’t work.”
He also hired a vet to try and tranquilize the cow, but that only “enraged her further,” he said.
Other farmers became infuriated by Matylda, who had destroyed all of their crops.
And fearing he would never see his cow again and she may wind up dead, Leszek tried one last approach.
He decided to court Matylda by bringing her salt, apples and cabbage, and it worked!

Here is Leszek reunited with his favorite cow Matilda!
