15 Small Things You Can Do To Improve Your Life In Little Ways

I think we can all admit most of us vary on the scales of physical and mental health. All of us at all times are experiencing unhealthy, negative, or downright dysfunctional patterns in our lives. But just a hint of self-improvement and just a little trying can making us happier and better in ways that know no bounds.

To Improve Your Health:

  1. Eat just a tad healthier. Shy away from comfort foods and opt for  healthier option once a week.
  2. Stretch before you go to bed at night. It doesn’t take much but it will make you a healthier person, I swear.
  3. Sweat more. It’s therapeutic to watch the “toxins” physically leaving your body.

To Boost Your Mood:

  1. Sniff some citrus (apparently this is a thing that regulates your mood).
  2. Once a week, jot down three things that you are grateful for in your life.
  3. Smile at strangers even if they think you’re crazy. It’s okay for strangers to think your crazy.

To Become Slightly More Cultured:

  1. Follow a news organization on Twitter and follow just one story that has been taking place in the news.
  2. Listen to a little bit of jazz music–maybe just 15 minutes a week.
  3. Attend an event at an art gallery, even if it’s solely so you can be pretentious Hipster trash.

To Organize Your Life Just A Tad

  1. Make your bed every other day.
  2. Do the dishes at least once a week (c’mon, I believe in you).
  3. Buy a planner–and yes it is beneficial to you if you actually use it.

To Be A Slightly Better Person

  1. When you leave the office for your coffee break, buy your cubicle buddy a munchkin to let them know they were on your mind.
  2. Tell a stranger on the subway that they have gorgeous hair/eyes/smile (but don’t be creepy when you do it).
  3. Buy a cup of coffee for the person in line behind you at Starbucks.
