It sounds more like a newer version of Mowgli in the ‘Jungle Book,’ rather than something real. She spent the first decade of her existence on an incredible adventure in the African bush
She was born in Namibia to French wildlife photographer parents, and grew up in Africa. Tippi spent her whole childhood playing with wild animals including lion cubs, a mongoose, a snake, a cheetah, baby zebra, giraffes and crocodiles. Tippi has since written a book about her unusual yet wonderful upbringing.

There have no doubt been many tall people throughout history, but it’s only in the past few hundred years that they have been recorded, monitored, and in most cases, propelled to near celebrity status as a result of their height. But it’s not just their height that impresses and shocks people. It’s also their massive hands and feet, which come as part and parcel of the conditions known as Pituitary gigantism, Marfan syndrome, eunuchoid tallness, Sotos syndrome, and acromegaly. But don’t be fooled into thinking that the world’s tallest humans lived a blessed life, as quite the opposite is true. Not to mention being on crutches and living in severe pain, most of these men died before they reached 40 and in some cases, in their early twenties. That being said, these men are/were record holders, and have a lot to be proud of, as well as everything else they achieved during their relatively short life-spans…
When given the news that their 5-year-old daughter was losing her eyesight, mom and dad were crushed that their daughter would never get to see so many incredible things. But instead of wasting the precious time she did have left, parents Christine and Steve decided to show Lizzy as many wonders of the world that they could manage.
At just five-years-old, doctors diagnosed Lizzy Myers with Usher’s syndrome, a degenerative condition that causes hearing and vision loss. To make the most of Lizzy’s remaining vision, the Ohio family started a ‘visual bucket list’ of things they wanted Lizzy, who doesn’t know about her condition, to experience with her eyes before going blind.
“Once we got over the initial shock of all of that we realized that we have to do as much as we can to let her see as many wonderful things as possible,” Steve said.
The list includes many simple experiences like catching fireflies, seeing a rainbow, swimming in the ocean, and viewing the stars and the moon. So far, Lizzy has visited the Warren Rupp observatory, and recently traveled to Rome to visit the Vatican where they hoped a miracle would let them meet the pope.

Astonishingly, Pope Francis met with Lizzy after greeting the crowds in the Vatican and blessed her. “The meeting with the pope was absolutely amazing. I’d never expected in a million years that we would come that close to the pope,” Steve Myers, Lizzy’s father, told the Associated Press. “We first started this adventure with Turkish Airlines, you know, we thought maybe there was a chance we’d be able to get to the general audience and we’d be out there in the crowd.”
“You know, I believe myself, and I think that what Pope Francis has done for her, if there is any chance for a miracle, it would be there,” Steve said. “He asked that we pray for him and said that he would be praying for us.”

A home might just be For many senior citizens still living in their own home, a tidy, well-kept home is the last sign of their independence and competence, which is why an 81-year-old Texas man was so determined to mow his lawn.
Roy Haley couldn’t stand the sight of his overgrown lawn, and figured he could cut the grass himself as long as he was careful and took his time. “I just felt so useless, and I bought me a lawnmower, and I thought that I could get on it,” Haley said. “And I finally did.”
But moments after starting his project, Haley’s legs, which have poor circulation, gave out and he fell to the ground. Haley’s wife immediately called 911, but thankfully the EMS crew arrived quickly and nothing serious had happened to Haley.
First responders told Haley not to try to get back on the lawnmower to finish what he started, but firefighter Brelan Fox decided he would finish the project to be sure Haley wouldn’t get hurt again.

“One of my firefighters noticed that a little part of the yard got missed and so we decided to mow that part,” Shift Capt. Shawn Burleson said, “and then another one of the firefighters noticed that the front yard hadn’t even been mowed yet, and asked if we could mow that.”

“That’s the kind of people we have here in our town,” Haley said. “If you’re a senior citizen, I guarantee you, someone in this town will help you.”

Almost any baby in the animal kingdom needs some tender love and care from mom, but when this baby rhino lost his mother to poachers, he turned to his new human ‘mom’ for care, cuddles, and protection.
When baby Kabelo found himself alone and an orphan in the wild after losing his mother, The Rhino Orphanage in South Africa opened their doors to him to let him grow in a protected environment until the day he can hopefully be reintegrated back into the wild, where he belongs.
When Kabelo first entered the orphanage, Australian veterinary nurse Laura Ellison began caring for him and the two have formed a special bond as she stepped in as his mother. Recently, Laura shared a video of Kabelo and her snuggling together to show how incredibly forgiving and affectionate these creatures can be towards people they trust.
“While I want you all to experience the gentleness of rhinos, to fall in love with them as I have and inspire the same desperation I have to save them, I must stress the relationship I have with our rhinos that allow these experiences.”

“I have been with Kabelo since his arrival to the orphanage and we have developed such a strong bond. While Kabelo is so comfortable with me, he is not with many others. Please appreciate that he is still a wild animal… But also with the capacity to love so forgivingly,” Ellison wrote along with the video that showed Kabelo using her stomach as a pillow.

Newborn babies require the gentlest care even at full-term, yet those born just a few weeks premature can be terrifyingly delicate for new parents, which is why one organization decided to run a campaign showing preemies all grown up.
A premature baby is defined as any baby born before 37 weeks, and the less time the baby gets to spend in the womb, the more the baby is at risk for a slew of health complications like hearing and vision impairments, learning disabilities, and even neurological disorders.
Instead of spending those first few days at home enjoying normal milestones with their newborn, parents of preemies spend every second worried about their baby’s life.
L’il Aussie Prems Foundation, which is an organization that provides support for parents of premature and sick babies, started a #foot4prems project where parents of now grown preemies pose with pictures of themselves as infants.

The campaign hopes to give new parents of sick and premature babies hope by giving proof that their babies won’t be so tiny and fragile forever, and that they will have a life outside of the NICU.

From a young age, girls all over the world are told they need to grow up and find a suitable man to marry.
In China, especially, the pressure from parents for their daughters to get married is intense.
Skincare brand SK-II created a new documentary-style called “Marriage Market Takeover,” which shows how traditional attitudes towards marriage in China, can put extreme pressure on single women to find a husband.
There’s even a common derogatory term for older unmarried women in country, “Sheng Nu,” which literally translates to “leftover woman.” It refers to women over 25 who aren’t married yet.
One father in the documentary says, “If she can’t find the one, it will be a heart disease for me.”
“She’s just average looking.. not too pretty. That is why she is a leftover woman,” a mother theorizes about her daughter, while the daughter sat there fighting back tears.
People think that in Chinese society, an unmarried woman is incomplete.

In Shanghai, parents will post their sons’ and daughters’ profiles at “Marriage Markets” in hopes of finding them a suitable man.

They will qualify the man by his income, job, and if he owns a home and car- it’s basically like selling your daughter.
One day the parents were shocked to visit a matchmaking “Marriage Market” only to find self-affirming and powerful messages of independence from their daughters.

“I don’t want to get married for the sake of marriage. I won’t be happy that way,” one woman writes.
Another says, “I have a great career and there is another term called ‘power woman.'”
Slowly but surely the parents views seemed to soften and the single women stood empowered.

Holly is a 5-week-old puppy who came into Pender Animal Control with her mom.
It was evident she had a broken leg and needed immediate medical care and a home or she would be euthanized. The shelter was out of emergency funds, so they called Adopt an Angel and asked them to take Holly.
X-ray’s showed that Holly’s leg was completely crushed at the top, the bottom and at the knee.
She needed her leg amputated that night, and a wonderful employee at the vet’s office offered her a foster home.
Just a few weeks later, Holly’s foster mom filmed her running up the stairs to the Rocky theme song, and it’s totally inspiring.
“Here you see Holly several weeks after her leg was amputated. She is THRIVING and her spirit and will to live is a testament that every pet deserves to live and to be loved,” they wrote.

Fox 5 NY reported that Holly has since been adopted, but Adopt An Angel said her mother is still available for adoption and is currently undergoing heartworm treatment.
Jack Reynolds decided to ring in his 104th birthday with something really memorable.
On Wednesday, he became the oldest person ever to get a tattoo. Nicknamed ‘Jacko,’ he also became the oldest person to do an ice bucket challenge a few years ago at 102-years-old.
Jack decided to go with his daughter and grandson to Pete Who’s Tattoos in the UK, and they even hired a limousine to take them. It was a once in a lifetime day for their ‘Jacko’ after all.
Grandpa arrived at the tattoo parlor and decided to get his date of birth inked on his upper arm. The best part was that he did it in his own handwriting!

Jack’s reasoning for getting a tattoo is not just to check another item off his bucket list. He told the LAD Bible he got it in aid of a charity called Ashgate Hospice, who care for terminally ill adults.
He said, “It’s all for a good cause. I’ll do it again at 105.”
With 8 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, Jack said they all think he’s crazy, but he’s had plenty of needles in him before and wasn’t scared to get a tattoo.

That’s why Julia Cain should consider herself a very lucky bride. Not only did this newlywed not have to search high and low for her dream dress, it fell into her lap for free…and she barely needed any alterations!

Phyllis Jo Raymond first wore the beautiful gown to marry Julia’s grandfather, Harold Traver, who walked her down the aisle at their 1950’s wedding.

Thirty years later, Harold walked his daughter, Susan Kay, down the aisle in the exact same lace frock… only this time, Susan added an extra lace panel to the jacket to fit her shoulders and eliminated the hoop skirt to add more length on the dress, according to the Huffington Post.

“My grandmother had fantastic taste, and it’s no surprise her gown is still as spot-on as it was in the 1950s,” Julia told the Huffington Post of the dress she wore to her March 2016 wedding, 63 years after her grandmother, and 33 years after her mother.

Although Julia altered the dress to remove the sleeves, lower the neckline and back, and add in a satin waist, she says she never felt pressure to wear the gown on her special day.

However, the best part of this story might just be how Julia’s grandpa got to walk all three of his girls down the aisle, since his son-in-law passed away years ago.
“Wearing a dress worn by so many women I love was the icing on the cake,” Julia said.

This little boy is so beautiful and so honest it’s making my heart swell and when you see this video, it will make you shed a tear too.

He then went on to say that his own Grandmother is 100 years old, “and the King of all of them.” To that response, we can’t begin to guess what he means, but we’re pretty sure he thinks she rules the world…and to his young mind, she probably does.

For some families, hunting is a rite of passage. It’s a bonding exercise that teaches the children how to survive in the wilderness while being self-sufficient. However, sometimes things don’t go exactly as planned.
Take, for instance, Hunter Jung and his cousin Briell, two Kindergarteners from Wisconsin. They had an unexpected visitor on their first deer hunting trip a few weeks ago. After spotting a small fawn in the brush, Hunter was getting ready to fire his pellet gun at the animal, like he’d been taught, when his father stopped him.
It’s a good thing Dad stepped in, because the encounter turned into a valuable learning lesson for the two kids.
Not only did young Hunter learn that the small animal was too tiny to shoot, he also learned that a lot of good can come from not killing a helpless animal.
Incredibly, instead of shying away from the young hunting party, the deer did the opposite. It walked directly up to Hunter and Briell and invited affection.
The deer let the kids pet and stroke its fur for a few minutes while one of the parents captured the encounter that was later shared on Facebook.
After photos of the incredible scene were posted online, they quickly caught the attention of other locals in the community of hunting enthusiasts. The local sheriff even took to social media to praise this very different sort of deer encounter:
“This is not a pet and this is not on a deer farm…the family was walking to their stand (in Shawano County) the last day of Deer season and this young buck approached them and allowed them to pet him. Pretty cool experience for the kids.”
With deer season officially over now, the two young kids won’t have the opportunity to hunt again for a while. However, I have a funny feeling they will be looking at hunting through a different lens in the months and years to come.

When you unexpectedly bring a dog home without letting your parents know, there’s going to be tension, but one young man angered his parents for a very unexpected reason.
They weren’t upset when Vimeo user Tony brought home a dog. They were upset that he brought home a Pit Bull. The breed has been getting a bad reputation for years and in some cases have been considered “unadoptable,” as is with this unfair setting.
[Vimeo]This often leads to many of these dogs sitting in shelters for too long and being confined to an inhumane life. But Tony wanted to give this dog Sadie, a life worth barking about, so he adopted her with no issues.
She was trainable, sweet, and fell in love with strangers. Of course, Mom and Dad didn’t immediately fall in love with her soft side.
So Tony created the following video to inform not just his parents about the beautiful soul Sadie possess, but that all dogs have beautiful souls waiting to shine…especially Pit Bulls.

Perhaps you’ve heard of the trend. Students embarking on the adventure of senior prom will find a creative and fun way to ask a fellow classmate to the most important dance of their life.
Shelby Butler of Winder, Georgia, made a special “promposal” that’s so adorable it’s worth being shouted about from the rooftops. Shelby asked a special boy she has known for his entire life, family friend, Alex Richards, who is an 8-year-old boy battling cancer for most of his life. He is now in his third round with luekemia, which returned in March 2015.
But Shelby told the young child he is a superhero. He’s been through so much in his short life that Shelby has no choice but to admire Alex’s resilience, and to make his day, she decided to take him to senior prom.
[Shelby Butler]“Superman is cool because he has X-ray vision,” she wrote on the poster board she used to propose. “Superman is cool because he scales tall buildings. Batman is cool because he drives the fanciest car on the planet.”
But then she wrote, “Alex is cool because he never stops fighting. I would like my superhero Alex to be my date to the prom.”

“He just never stops fighting,” Shelby said. “I thought of a million things, but I remembered when he gets his chemo, we call it his superpower, so that’s where I got the superhero (theme) from.”

Shelby is working on trying to get a limousine for the big day at the Georgia Center in Athens. Alex already has a blue suit to match her blue dress, and the two plan on hitting Steak ‘n Shake before the prom.

Most dogs love to play fetch so much, that they will bring a toy to any human they see.
In the case of this dog in the video below, however, he tried to play fetch with a life-size Elsa doll from the movie Frozen. The beautiful dog was unaware of the fact that the doll he was trying to play fetch with wasn’t a real person.
Now, it’s totally understandable that he would be confused, considering Elsa is pretty much life-size.
In the hysterical video below, the he brings his toy over to Elsa, only to be disappointed when she wouldn’t move.
He even sits down in hopes that his patience would do the trick, but unfortunately, the doll wouldn’t move. I guess you could say she was Frozen.

A shocking video captured on a student’s cell phone camera is going viral and the story is just as disturbing.
A 12-year-old San Antonio girl has been suspended following an altercation with another student. That fight ended with a police officer slamming the girl to the ground, according to the girl’s mother and the supporting cell phone footage.
The student at Rhodes Middle School had been in altercations before. According to her mother, Gloria Valdez, “she had been bullied at the beginning of the school year.” Valdez said she had spoken with the school counselor and vice principal, who said they would look into the issue.
On the day this video was recorded, Valdez said he daughter was in another altercation, but this one had been started by a fellow student. To break up the fight, a school district officer picked up the girl and threw her to the ground
“Supposedly he was threatened by her, that she kicked him, but in the video her legs never went up,” Valdez said about her daughter.
Valdez’s daughter did not want to go on camera but told KENS what had happened. She had been speaking with the other girl when a crowd closed in on the two. Tensions rose and while it’s unclear whether or not things became physical, it was at this point that the officer put his hands on her.
As a result of the altercation, Valdez’s daughter has been suspended for three days and the officer has been placed on paid leave.

Twenty-two-year-old Donna Gillie was sitting at her desk at work when she realized she had become extremely uncomfortable due to her weight.
At 230lbs, Gillie decided it was time to make a change.
Determined to get fit, she joined a gym and started taking exercise classes like Zumba, step class and body pump. She started slow and over a period of two years, she dropped 70lbs!
“I began with small steps, I didn’t actually change the way I ate until fairly far into my fitness journey. I guess you could say I hit a plateau – so I started to change the way I ate. I watched my portions and ate more fruits and veggies, less packaged food more whole food.”
Gillie hired a coach and entered her first fitness competition in 2014. By that time, she had begun weight training to sculpt her figure and dropped a whopping 100lbs!

She told the Huffington post,
“I entered not because I wanted a plastic trophy or any recognition but something for myself – to prove to myself I could shape my body after all my hard work and lose the weight I wanted to build my body. I truly enjoyed the process. I was 115lbs the day of my show – exactly half the woman I was when I started working out.”
Now, Gillie says that so many people have come up to her telling her they want to lose weight and asking for advice.

“I always tell them my path and to keep a positive mindset because that alone can work wonders,” she said. “The fitness community is often thought of as very superficial but to be honest it has a great support system and social atmosphere. Since losing my weight I feel better physically and mentally.”

David Douglas is a 6ft tall, 330 pound ex-marine turned powerlifter, nicknamed “The Beast,” and his best friend is a 12-year-old who stands at 3 1/2 feet tall and weighs just 30 pounds.
This special little girl is named Lindsay Ratcliffe and she suffers from a rare disease called progeria.

This fatal genetic condition causes premature aging at 8-10 times the normal rate, and most of those afflicted die of heart attacks or strokes by the age of 14. Only an estimated 150 children in the world suffer from this terrible disease.
It would seem unlikely that 29-year-old David Douglas and Lindsay would be the best of friends, but according to aplus.com, they hit it off immediately. “The Beast” and Lindsay met when they attended Relentless, a sponsored powerlifting event to benefit children with rare diseases.

“Lindsay became my lil sis since day one,” Douglas writes. “There are no words to describe how I feel about her. She has pulled me out of rough spots just by thinking of her. That is a priceless gift.”

He continued, “That is why I made it my duty to help her out in any way that I can. We tried hard to get her on the Ellen show so that we could spread her story of this rare condition to the world, but fell short, but still truly hoping to get on there. One of Lindsay’s favorite shows.”
FOX 32 Chicago reposted this picture of David and Lindsay, and David says,
“I got a picture from a friend that took a picture of us and I felt very strongly about it so I wanted to get the point across on how I felt about it and her. People looked at me as strong when everything about her was stronger.Instead of putting those words off to the side, I decided to put it right on me to make the point even louder. You have to look at the big picture of it.”
The two have remained close since meeting and David decided to fly across the country to surprise Lindsay in Michigan for a charity.
