Police officers dedicate their lives to helping their communities, so when one upstate New York cop stumbled upon a homeless man in need of a haircut and a hot shower, he was more than happy to help.

Officer Aaron Page was patrolling downtown Rome, New York when he spotted a homeless man who was ‘down on his luck’. Page started talking to the man named Bobby and learned that he desperately wanted to clean himself up with a warm shower and a haircut.

Page told Bobby to stop by the police station the next day, and when he arrived, Page and a few other officers gave Bobby a complete makeover. After a hot shower, the officers got Bobby new clean clothes and then got to work cutting his bushy, matted hair.

By the end of the haircut, Bobby was unrecognizable and as if the officers hadn’t helped enough, they gathered a bunch of donated clothes in his size and gave them to Bobby in a new duffel bag. “Bobby left looking like a whole new person and couldn’t thank us enough,” the police department wrote in a post to Facebook.

Most expecting moms know that no matter how much they plan and prepare, they have no control over when and where they’ll go into labor.

However, with a whole month left of her pregnancy, one Nebraska mom-to-be thought she still had plenty of time before her daughter arrived. But shortly after Kymica Hubbard entered the Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium in Omaha, Nebraska, she realized her baby girl was on the way and wasn’t going to wait four more weeks in the womb, nor wait until they could get to the hospital.

Hubbard started having contractions while riding the train at the zoo, then she knew it was serious when her water broke in the restroom shortly after. Hubbard and her husband Justin knew they had to head straight to the hospital, but didn’t even make it out of the gate before baby Drea was born. “When I started feeling her head, I was like, ‘Oh my God, my daughter is here. It’s coming! So I got more excited than scared,” said Hubbard.

The birth was so quick that not even the zoo’s staff EMTs made it to her in time, but thankfully Justin is a trained nursing assistant and was able to safely deliver his daughter. “She was crying, cooing. It was just the most beautiful thing that a man could ever see. It was a truly blessed experience,” Justin said.

“I know she’s going to ask, ‘Mom, where was I born?’ I’m like, ‘Okay, you were born at the zoo!'”

Nurses spend most of their lives trying to help others and keep them safe. One Ohio nurse is being hailed a hero for going above and beyond the call of duty to save a baby seconds from drowning.

This past weekend, a devastating flash flood ripped through Green Township, Ohio and left people fighting for their lives as water level quickly rose above waist height. It happened so suddenly, in fact, that one couple was left frozen in shock as their car started to sink with them and their baby trapped inside.

Thankfully, a nursing home worker spotted the young family getting pulled under the water, and waded out into the dangerous water to save them. “The water’s probably midway on my waist, and then I tell them, ‘We got to get the baby out, you need to give me the baby, we need to go,’” Sandra Paterson said.

“The water was rising quickly,” said Patterson. “We only had a few seconds to get the baby out.” Luckily, she was able to pull the baby out and the parents managed to get free with just seconds to spare. “Within a matter of seconds, the car was under,” she said.

Woman Saves Baby After Parents Tried To Sell Him Online

Parents are supposed to do absolutely anything to protect their baby and keep them out of harm’s way. That’s why one Tennessee woman was horrified when she realized what one couple was trying to do with their own child…

Last week, Pamela Wise was browsing the ‘for sale’ section on Craigslist, hoping to find some supplies that would help fix up a vintage camper that had been sitting in her yard. However, as she scrolled through the ads, one ad for an adoption caught her eye.

“I thought, well I’ll just look and see what it is,” Wise said. The ad was from a woman nearby, so Wise reached out to try and find out more. “She said, I have a five-month-old, I said boy or girl, she said it’s a little boy, five months old, and you can adopt him, you can have him, I’ll sell him to you,” Wise said.

Wise soon realized that the woman was really trying to sell the baby for profit, so she immediately contacted the Elizabethton Police Department. “She said what problem do you have, and I said there is a lady trying to sell me her baby on Craigslist. Next thing I knew a detective and lady from the Carter County Department of Human Services was there,” Wise said.

The police then took Wise’s phone and began negotiating with the mother on a price and settled on a time and place to meet. “They talked and negotiated a price, and they were wanting to sell their five-month-old baby for $3,000,” said Greene County Sheriff Pat Hankins.

“We were anticipating more of a scam or someone that was fixing to rob someone. Once you walked up there and really looked in that baby carriage, and saw that little child, that’s when it gave you the sick feeling of what was going on,” Hankins said. John Cain and Deanna Greer were arrested and now face felony charges, and their baby is now safe in protective custody.

“I just think the Lord put me in the right place at the right time to save his little life,” Wise said. “That little baby had a little angel watching over him, and that angel will always be with him.”

Orphaned Bear Cubs Rescued After Mother Was Hit By A Car

Normally, black bear cubs stay with their mothers for about a year and a half after birth and rely on her for warmth, food, and protection during those first months.

So when one mother black bear was struck on Highway 200 in Montana this past week while crossing the road to get water from a nearby river, her newborn cubs were left orphaned. Without their mother, the two-month-old cubs were doomed since no one was there to protect or feed them.

“The cubs are young,” said Fish, Wildlife and Parks game warden Brady Murphy who discovered the mother’s body by the road. “They were born just a couple months ago.” Murphy knew the cubs didn’t stand a chance without their mom, so he tracked down their den hoping to find the babies and bring them to a rehabilitation center.

When he finally tracked down the den, the cubs were nowhere to be found, but Murphy wasn’t going to give up that easily. “I just went back this morning and thought I’d go check, and there they were,” Murphy said about the cubs that appeared to be in good health still. “I’m sure they’re hungry. They’d been without mama for a while.”

Murphy captured the cubs and brought them to the Montana WILD Wildlife Rehabilitation Center where the cubs will gain their strength until they can be released back into the wild next fall or spring. “I have very few volunteers that are actually hands on with the bears. And we don’t talk, don’t make eye contact with them when were servicing them in the enclosures. We do everything we can to just disassociate ourselves from them, so they have the best chance to go out as wild bears,” said Lisa Rhodin, Coordinator of the Montana Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.

Can you imagine what would have happened if this hero hadn’t found the cubs in time? Let us know what you think in the comments below and please SHARE this with friends on Facebook.

Kindhearted Cop Teaches A Young Boy How To Tie His Tie

Cops are called heroes for risking their lives to save a stranger or take down the bad guy, but one Indiana State Police Trooper is being hailed a hero for doing something much simpler for a young boy.

Recently, 13-year-old X’zavier was invited to the Indiana State House to receive the “Youth of the Year” award by the local Boys and Girls Club. However, on the car ride to the event with his mom Bianca Mada and aunt Victoria Mada, his tie came undone.

“He tried to redo it himself and he just couldn’t remember every step. My sister tried to YouTube it, but it’s not that easy,” Victoria Mada said. “My nephew was too embarrassed to ask anyone else.” When Mada spotted a police officer, she asked if he could help. “We were worried about how to get it tied. I turned, and I happened to see an officer walking, so I asked that officer.”

“He stopped what he was doing and showed my nephew how to tie it correctly and congratulated him and shook his hand. As a former 911 dispatcher it meant a lot to me to show my nephew that cops are not bad people and that he can trust them and count on them to help him in any situation, even something as small as tying a tie,” Mada said about State Police Sgt. Don Gregory.

“I’ve got kids of my own,” Gregory said. “I like kids, and they seemed like a very nice family. That’s what we are all about, trying to help people. It was an opportunity for me to help him out.”

Firefighters are trained to never leave anyone behind. So when one Irish fireman saw a fellow runner struggling while competing in the Boston Marathon, he knew he had to help.

This past week, 27,221 runners competed in the Boston Marathon, the oldest annual marathon and one of the most prestigious in the world. And while every runner would have spent months preparing for the grueling 26-mile course, many were unprepared for the soaring temperatures that reached almost 80 degrees during the race.

Despite the heat, Northern Ireland firefighter Terry Canning was running at a good pace and was set to make a strong finish. However, as he approached the end of the race, he noticed a fellow runner, Julianne Bowe from New Jersey, struggling to stay on her feet.

The firefighter and Chilean runner Mario Vargas helped Bowe along, but when he legs began to buckle, Canning picked her up in his arms, carried the rest of the way, and then placed her down just before the finish line so she could cross it herself.

“Well done to our Crew Commander Terry Canning from Omagh Fire Station,” a spokesman for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said about the Crew Commander. “Terry your actions truly epitomize the essence of Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service. You are a real hero at home and away. We are all so very proud of your selfless act. Congratulations on a fantastic finishing time too.”

Customer Leaves Waitress $500 Tip To Fix Her Hearing Aid

Normally, restaurant servers hope that customers will leave a 15-20 percent tip for their hard work, so when a customer left a Connecticut waitress a $500 tip, she was so stunned she instantly burst into tears.

Recently Keri Marie Carlson, a waitress at G.W. Carson’s, was walking a couple to their table like she normally did at work. However, unlike other days, Carlson was wearing only one of her hearing aids because the other was broken so she was having a hard time hearing the couple.

“On the way over he noticed that I was wearing one hearing aid,” Carlson said. “We got into talking about not being able to hear. However, I kept asking him to repeat himself a lot. He asked me if two aids would help and I told him I normally wear two, I just broke one not too long ago.”

“I didn’t say I needed the money or anything,” Carlson said. Yet after she left the couple at the table with menus, the man followed Carlson to the back of the restaurant and handed her $500 to fix or replace the broken hearing aid. “I am not taking no for answer, I want you to have this… Here is $500 to help you out with whatever you need,” the man said.

“I tried to give him the money back, but he was like, ‘No — you deserve this. I can’t let you go home like this.’” Carlson said. “My breathing and heart rate increased, tears came pouring out of my eyes and I cried in that man’s arms. I was, and still am, in shock that it even happened.”

“Thank you so much from my humble heart for this amazing gift,” Carlson said to the generous man who wished to stay anonymous. “You helped me believe there are still good people out there.”

Falling overboard a large ship is incredibly dangerous, yet one brave sailor willingly jumped overboard a massive cargo ship when he spotted a wild animal in need of help.

This past week, the crew from the Cheikh El Mokrani, a Bahamas-registered 55,000-ton gas tanker, realized that a whale had accidentally gotten caught in their fishing net. The crew set out one of their sailors on one of their lifeboats, but the man was struggling to free the massive animal on his own.

One of the sailors still on deck knew someone would have to help if they were to set the whale free, and after a few minutes contemplating the situation, he bravely climbed over the railing and jumped 40 feet off the ship into the water below.

The sailor then swims to the struggling animal and starts working the net off the whale. After a few minutes, the two men finally untangle the whale and the rest of the crew onboard starts cheering as the whale swims back into the ocean unharmed.

For any soldier being deployed, it can be incredibly difficult to come to terms with not knowing when or if they’ll go home. But for those with children, it’s even harder to leave knowing that even if they make it home, they’ll have missed so many important milestones in their child’s life.

“The deployment isn’t bad. It’s being away from Brody that’s so hard. I’m missing so much and missing the milestones in his life is difficult,” said Georgina Walton, a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force who has been deployed for the past seven months in Asia.

So when Walton found out she was finally going home, she wanted to do something special for the occasion and surprise her six-year-old son Brody. “I grew up going to the RiverDogs games. I looked to see when the games were and there was one the day after I came back. I talked to the coaches and they let him throw the first pitch of the game,” Walton said.

Walton patiently watched as Brody threw the first pitch of the game, then came running out onto the field to hug him for the first time in months. “He was super wide-eyed. He couldn’t believe it. He just wrapped his arms around me and hugged me for a long time.”

“It was exciting but very emotional,” Walton said.  “I felt like I was gone forever. I got to see him and give him a kiss. I’d been waiting for that.”

When one 14-year-old Utah girl never came home one day after school, her parents knew something was wrong and sent out search parties to find her.

On Feb. 16, 14-year-old Deserae Turner was shot by two 16-year-old boys in the back of the head and left to die alone in a canal. When she failed to show up at home, her parents started to worry and called the police. Hours later, a family friend finally found Deserae barely alive after midnight.

Deserae was airlifted to the hospital, placed in a medically induced coma, and underwent several risky surgeries to remove as much of the bullet from her brain as possible and try to repair the damage. The teen was in critical condition and doctors weren’t sure how the injury would affect Deserae if she woke up. Nine weeks later, however, Deserae has stunned everyone with her remarkable recovery and is already talking and starting to walk.

“What a great day. Because of the love and care of so many, we are taking our beautiful, courageous daughter home today. Nine weeks ago we did not know if this was possible,” dad Matt Turner said. “I am so thankful to be here today, to be alive,” Deserae said. “I told my dad that I am tougher than a bullet. It is still with me today… I have been working really hard and still have a lot of work to do.”

“People all over the world have been praying for me. Some of them I know and some I have never met, and they have never met me, but they cared for me, and they care for you,” Deserae said. “I would like others to know that people are kind and they do care about us and are concerned about us, even when we may think no one is there.”

“We have seen and felt the very best of humanity touch our family’s life over the past several weeks. We know our Heavenly Father has heard your prayers and those heard around the world,” Turner said. “I have felt that my Heavenly Father is with me and has helped me get this far, and I’m so grateful for that,” Deserae added.

Firefighters and first responders know that freak accidents can happen at any time and any place. That’s why when one off-duty fireman and EMT was driving one afternoon; he didn’t hesitate to act when he witnessed a little girl fall out of a moving bus.

“It can happen anywhere, anytime,” said Ryan Ciampoli, a firefighter and trained emergency medical technician who was driving behind a church bus when he spotted a four-year-old fall out of the back door. “Never would you think driving down the road that something like that would happen.”

“I couldn’t believe it, it was so shocking,” Ciampoli said. Despite the shock, his training kicked in, and he jumped out of his car to get the girl safely off the road. “Obviously you want to leave her laying there if she’s not in danger, but we’re in the middle of a state highway,” he explained. “So I couldn’t leave her just laying there.”

The four-year-old was unconscious at first, but as he gently held her and talked to her, she started to wake up. “For a very brief time she had got enough consciousness to say ‘where is my mommy?’,” he said. The girl was then rushed to the hospital where doctors determined she had a broken jaw that needs surgery. However, if Ciampoli had not been there, she easily could have been run over and critically injured.

For the past 10 years, one Georgia fireman has dedicated his life to saving others in emergency situations. And now, he credits all those years of training and experience for making an impossible rescue.

When a Georgia apartment complex caught on fire recently, firefighters from the DeKalb County Fire Rescue Department rushed to the scene. Firefighter Robert Sutton was one of the first to arrive and immediately started working to put the fire out.

Yet as he worked, Sutton heard a man yelling from a second story window. “He was a little guy, so when I heard his father yelling ‘Help’, and saw him hanging out the window with the baby in his arms, I just went into action. I just did what any of the other firefighters out here would have done,” Sutton said. “I just said ‘Drop him.’ He did and I am blessed to have been in a position to catch the baby.”

“It was my first time in a situation like that,” said Sutton, who made sure the baby was ok before going back and helping the crew get the baby’s father down. “I just hope that this helps people understood the hard work and training that goes into being a firefighter,” Captain Tom Burrell said. “There’s not really one thing that prepares you for what Firefighter Sutton and his colleagues encountered yesterday. It’s good training. It’s years of experience and having a good sense of situational awareness. I’m just really proud.”

Sutton has since been hailed a hero for making the impossible catch, but he claims he was just doing his job and was luckily at the right place at the right time. “I grew up in this community and it’s just an honor to be able to help people here and work with the great guys I work with. We do this together and I’m just happy and blessed to be able to help that father and his baby. It’s our job,” said Sutton. “I’m just glad they were both ok.”

Firefighters Help Pregnant Mom Who Lost Everything In A Fire

For eight long months, one expecting Florida woman worked hard to make sure she had everything she could possibly need and was prepared to give birth to her first child.

Yet just weeks before her due date, an electrical problem caused Nicola Taylor’s apartment to catch on fire. Not only was her home completely destroyed, but also everything inside, including all of the baby gifts she received from a baby shower just days before.

“I was blindsided. Getting out was my main goal at the time. The smoke was heavy and black. I couldn’t see what was going on,” said Nicola, who was napping when the fire started. Everyone in the apartment thankfully made it out alive, but they were left with nothing but the clothes on their backs. “The apartment was completely gutted down to the concrete,” said fire department spokesman Captain Jerry Gonzalez. “They’re a low-income family. They had all these gifts in the apartment, and everything was lost.”

Firefighters at the scene noticed burned baby items in the remains of the fire and found out that the 30-year-old mom-to-be had lost her previous baby, and knew they had to do something to help. “A lot of young guys we have in our department are new dads themselves, so it touched their hearts. They wanted to do something,” Gonzalez said. “I put myself in their shoes and said, what would I do if I lost everything,” said Lauderdhill Fire Rescue’s B.J. Smith. “It’s heartbreaking.”
Photo by Facebook/Lauderhill Fire Rescue Station 57
The firefighters started collecting donations and started a GoFundMe campaign. After a week they had collected over $5,000 and all the items Nicola could need like a crib, diapers, clothes, and even beds for the rest of the family. The amazing crew then threw Nicola another baby shower and surprised her with the gifts as well as the keys to a new apartment, which they had rented for her using the money they collected and their own money to pay the deposit and the first few months of rent.
“No words, no words can express how I feel. There’s somebody to call every day. Even if the Fire Marshal doesn’t call, there’s somebody to call to ask if we’ve eaten, if we’re okay or they stop by to see us,” said Nicola. “All I had on my back was one shirt and one pants. I really appreciate what everybody has done for me,” Nicola’s dad, Glendon Daley, said in tears.

For a mother with three children, having your car break down is a massive inconvenience, but now one Arizona mom sees her car trouble was really a blessing in disguise.

Recently, mom Zarah Ajmi’s car broke down, and she was forced to ride her bike to get around. This past weekend, Ajmi was riding her bike past a community pool at around 8:30 a.m. when she noticed a 7-year-old girl in pajamas climbing the fence to get in the pool, which wasn’t open yet.

“I have three kids so I know how kids act in water. I just knew I needed to go check and see. I had a feeling, go make sure she knows how to swim,” Ajmi said. As she watched, the girl started struggling and could barely keep her head above the water.

“I could see her bobbing out of the water, and it was obvious she did not know to swim, so I climbed up to get over and it took me a few times, and I jumped right in the water, pulled her out right to the steps,” Ajmi said. She immediately called 911, and shortly after, the autistic girl’s mother and first responders arrived. Thanks to Ajmi, the girl had not been harmed.

“Thank God my car broke down and I was having to walk because everything happens for a reason, and I was at the right place at the right time,” she said.

Homeless Man Returned $676 Money Order That Stranger Lost

One California mom assumed someone would jump at the chance to cash in a money order for hundreds of dollars that she lost.

That’s exactly why she was stunned when a total stranger went out of his way to return it to her. “It flew away somehow,” said Yesenia Del Valle, who had taken out a $676 money order to make her tax payment. “I tore my car apart looking everywhere. I thought maybe I left it in the tax office, checking for it there. I was frantic.”

Del Valle never thought she’d see the money order again, but later that night a complete stranger knocked on her door with the piece of paper in his hands.

“When he knocked on my door, I never would have imagined it was about the check. I was shocked and wanted to know where he found it,” Del Valle said. Sergio Juarez had found it underneath his tire earlier that day and was able to track her down based on the address she had written on the back.

“I got him $40 and I said, ‘Here take your wife to Denny’s,'” Del Valle said. However, Juarez mentioned he’d be using the money for gas. “When he said that to me, I realized he must be struggling and I asked him and he said he lives in the Motel 6.”

“I couldn’t sleep all night thinking about what to do,” she said. “I couldn’t believe that a person in that situation would care to do something so nice when he doesn’t even have money for gas.” Juarez lost his job and was living in a motel with his wife, their three children, and another child they took in, so Del Valle started a GoFundMe to thank him for his good deed.

So far, the campaign has raised almost $18,000 and Juarez has received multiple job offers from people who were so impressed by his honesty and morals. “I reached out and told him what I had done,” Del Valle said. “His wife was in tears. Their kids are smiling for the first time in months. I told him you don’t need to thank me. I said this is my thank you for you doing the right thing.”
