After the fourth or fifth snowfall of the year, it’s easy to get fed up with the cold, ice, and terrible travel conditions. However, it’s hard to deny that there is always a magical feeling in the air when you look out the window and see the very first flakes of the season.
Here in New York, winter weather is officially upon us and even though there hasn’t been any sign of the white stuff yet (knock on wood!), it’s nice to see that our friends across the pond are making the most of their beautifully blanketed countryside.
Filmed on a farm in Walsall, United Kingdom, the following video introduces us to Chico the horse, who is all bundled up to enjoy the first snow day of the year with his very best friend. According to sjames86, who posted the clip to Rumble, Chico and Loki the dog are inseparable and love to chase each other around like two kids who just found out school got cancelled.
While I’m not exactly wishing for a blizzard to come my way, these two unlikely animal friends definitely make me want to throw on my boots and have some fun.

Hospitals aren’t typically happy places, but one couple turned this hospital room up-side-down with their exciting surprise.
Aubrey Howell, who shared this video on Youtube to give us all a tickle of joy, writes that her sister-in-law KNEW she was going to be giving birth to a girl. However, she decided to tell the family she was having a boy. She wanted it to be a secret and surprise the family when she had a baby girl.
Why would she keep such a secret?
Well, the secretive mother here had already given birth to three boys, so the family was really hoping for a girl. Additionally, many of the grandchildren of the family were boys and the grandmother had raised four girls herself. She wanted the mother to know the joy of connecting with a daughter.
For all of these reasons, the popping, pregnant mother decided to keep it a secret for the sake of surprise.
It was well worth it when the family came into the hospital room:
The family’s reaction to this new (female!) bundle of joy entering the world was an unparalleled one. We cover many surprises surrounding births here at LifeDaily and this is one of our favorites. The only question that remains: what should her name be?
If you found your best friend again after two years, you’d be crying too.
Kelly Thomas and her husband lost Bear (their dog not an actual bear) in 2013. The couple was in a car accident and after the collision, Bear ran away.
About a year after the crash, two women by the name of Stephanie Sparks and Kera Bagwell spotted a certain dog (unaware his name was Bear) in a junkyard not far from the crash sight. They were didn’t know who this dog was or what he had been through, however, they spent a great deal of time trying to capture the elusive beast: an entire year, in fact!
“We had absolutely no idea that it was going to turn into a 13-month ordeal. We thought we are going to go out, make friends with this dog, put him in the car and take him home,” Kera told Fox 5 Atlanta.
Instead, the dog took them for a spin, evading their attempts to trap Bear. Meanwhile, Kelly and her husband searched for Bear, turning up empty after a long two-year search. When the rescuers finally managed to capture Bear, they found he had a tracking microchip in him, and they quickly contacted his owners.
The reunion is one you probably won’t be able to bear:
If this doesn’t bring joy to your heart this Holiday season, there is probably nothing that will.
Brangelina isn’t the only Hollywood couple adopting a herd of babies. They just happen to be the most well-known.
Sandra Bullock has just welcomed a new member to her family. The 51-year-old actress has won an Academy Award as well as a Golden Globe. But now, she has a new accomplishment to tuck in with all the others. She has recently welcomed another child into her home: her first little girl. Five years ago, Bullock adopted her first child Louis, who is now the big brother of Laila, the newest edition to the family.
Laila is a three-year-old foster child from Louisiana and her life is about to become radically different (being adopted by a celebrity will do that to you).
Here’s the scoop, courtesy of Inside Edition:
Here are a few other celebrities who have adopted that you probably weren’t aware of:
1. Katherine Heigel
The Ugly Truth actress along with husband Josh Kelly adopted a baby girl in 2009 from South Korea. The Hollywood couple named her Nancy Leigh. In 2012, they adopted another baby girl from the US and named her Adalaide Marie Hope.
2. Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise
Nicole Kidman and ex-husband Tom Cruise adopted daughter Isabella Jane and son Connor Anthony a long time ago (Isabella Jane supposedly tied the knot earlier this year). However, after the couple’s divorce in 2001, Nicole lost the custody of her kids.
3. Michelle Pfeiffer
The Scarface actress adopted daughter Claudia Rose in 1993 much before her marriage to David Kelly. In 2007, she told Good Housekeeping that her teenage daughter is a force to be reckoned with and that there’s nothing typical about her kids. Spoken like a true Mom.
4. Hugh Jackman
The Aussie film-star and wife Deborra-Lee adopted son Oscar in 2000. Five years later, the couple adopted a baby girl, Ava. The couple adopted the children in Australia, however, they were met with countless hurdles as they attempted to navigate the anti-adoption culture there. It all appears to have worked out in the end, though.
5. Denise Richards
It’s widely known that Richards had 2 children with Charlie Sheen, but after their divorce, she adopted a 3rd child as a single parent. In 2011 she adopted her daughter, Eloise Joni, whose middle name is after Richards’ mother, who died from cancer in December 2007. The adoption was done in the US, at birth, with a two-year adoption process preceding it.
If you’ve ever gone to take a picture with Santa at the mall, you know that even the most easy going child will get agitated waiting on the endless lines surrounded by other restless children.
In order to give a young boy named Brayden with autism a great experience, this determined mall Santa got down on the floor to make it happen.
When Brayden arrived at the event with his mother Erin Deely, he shyly hung off to the side by some of the Christmas props. Once Santa put a snow globe on the floor, Brayden was fascinated and eventually made his way over to play along. After about 20 minutes, Deely explained her six-year-old finally smiled and gave Santa a high-five.
“Santa creeped down to the floor. Neither of them spoke. Santa began playing with the stuffed animal Brayden brought. All of a sudden, they had bonded without either saying a word.”
As part of the Caring Santa event, which was hosted by Autism Speaks and the Simon Property Group, children with autism and other special needs had the opportunity to meet Santa in a welcoming environment. Autism Speaks explained that the event provides “a more controlled and welcoming environment. Families can sign up for their own appointments, so that their child can have a calm, stress-free Santa experience.”
Had the Caring Santa event not have happened, Deely and her family would have normally skipped the Christmas tradition altogether. “The anxiety, the waiting on the long lines . . . it would be too much for Brayden and for us,” she said.
“Brayden doesn’t like posing for photos and being told to smile for the camera. This Santa was perfect.”

Otis Johnson was 25 when he went to prison for attempted murder of a police officer, and he was released just last summer at the age of 69.
Upon his release, he received an ID, documents outlining his criminal case history, $40 and two bus tickets. After spending 44 years in prison, the world outside was quite an adjustment for Otis.
Johnson allowed an Al Jazeera English camera crew follow him around New York, where he’s had to adjust to many things that Americans take for granted.
When he saw everyone wearing wires in their ears, Otis said, “What everybody become CIA or agents or stuff like that?”
“And I seen that everybody or majority of the people were talking to themselves. And some people were not even looking where they’re going.”
And don’t even get Otis started on the endless food options he now has to eat…
“The funny dinners. Different colored drinks. What do you call that? The gator stuff? Pink. Blue.”
“The peanut butter, it had jelly in it. And I ain’t never seen nothing like that before. So peanut butter and jelly in the same place in a jar? That was strange.”
But Otis seems to be adjusting well to the changes…
At night he likes to go out to the park and meditate.
“You know you got to let things go because holding on to anger will only stagnate your growth and development,” says Otis.
“I try not to go backward, I try to go forward. That’s how I survive in society.”

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but for Abdul Halim al-Attar, the photo above was worth so much more.
Here at LifeDaily, we know well just how much social media can change a person’s life. Here’s one of those amazing success stories that can really put this idea into perspective.
When Norwegian journalist and activist Gissur Simonarson snapped a photo of al-Attar, a Syrian refugee in Beirut, Lebanon selling pens on the street, while holding his young daughter Reem in August, 2015, he probably just thought it was a powerful representation of the terrible crisis going on. What happened next changed both of their lives forever.
“It’s a terribly emotional picture.”
“You see the look in his face and just the way he holds the pens out, as if those pens are everything he has in the world,” Simonarson told CNN.
After sharing the photo on his Twitter page, Simonarson received an overwhelming amount of responses from people wanting to track down al-Attar to help him. Simonarson made it his mission to find the single father so desperately trying to feed his two young children and didn’t stop until he did.
The activist created the Twitter account @buy_pens and an Indiegogo page where people could donate to help the man behind the viral photo. That’s when people around the world proved there was hope for humanity, as Simonarson’s goal of raising $5,000 for al-Attar was surpassed by more than $80,000 in about 24 hours.
Fast forward to December, 2015, and al-Attar has gone from hopeless single dad to hero known across the world.
“Not only did my life change, but also the lives of my children and the lives of people in Syria whom I helped,” al-Attar told NBC News. Al-Attar, pictured above with Reem, gave away a large portion of his donations to other Syrian refugees to help start a new life.
With much of the rest of the nearly $191,000 in donations, the 33-year-old has since started a bakery, a kebab shop and another small restaurant, employing nearly 20 refugees from his war-torn former country.
However, what might be best of all is that the formerly destitute street vendor told NBC he finally feels like a member of a community at his new home in Beirut.
“They just greet me better now when they see me. They respect me more.”

Puppies and babies…need we say more? As you can see in this adorable video of a little one drowning in pup kisses from his tiny pug pals, not even peanut butter and jelly can rival this perfect combination.

If you grew up with a dog, then you already know what a true blessing it is to have a canine companion. Having a pooch in the house promotes responsibility, empathy, compassion, and love…all important things in life that money can’t buy.

Yet at the end of the day, nothing can compare to having such a loyal protector and friend in the family. Plus, moments like the one between the two tiny sweethearts below are truly priceless.

There’s a high school student spreading a little more kindness in the world.
YouTube user Shea Glover is a high school student who is definitely set to go far in life. That’s because this inspiring teen knows the value of kindness and appreciates true beauty in the world.
As a social experiment, Glover gathered teachers and students from her high school and asked them if she could film them for a project. The project was capturing their reaction as she told them they were beautiful.
The reaction of the participants was just as inspiring as the high school student conducting the experiment.
Sadly, sometimes people don’t believe – or see – how beautiful they truly are.
One young woman reacts in half-mock-half-true anger, rejecting the idea that she is beautiful. She says, “I’ll cut you in the face!” and tells her to, “shut up!”
Oddly enough, it takes a lot for some of us to believe that we are actually beautiful. Even psychology tells us we are much more likely to hold onto and believe one negative comment than a hundred positive ones. (It’s called the negativity bias, and the N.Y. Times could tell you more about it if you are interested.)

Glover stresses that her original idea was not to conduct a social experiment. She was simply looking to capture everyday beauty as she discovered it in her surroundings.
And found it, she did!

Sometimes in life, taking a different road can make all the difference.
That’s exactly what happened after Central Illinois teenager Kelsey Allonge and her mother made a wrong turn on their way to a flea market early one morning. Whether you believe in fate or not, what happened next changed the lives of this family forever.
This tiny mishap led them down a road where they spotted a horse in trouble lying on the side of the road. She was about 6 months old and severely malnourished.
For Kelsey, the decision to stop and help the dying baby was an easy one.
Kelsey had been an animal lover her entire life, so all she could focus on was getting the weak foal off the road and far away from her abusive owners. It’s difficult to understand why or how anyone could let a poor baby get to the point of looking like this, but thankfully she’s now in good hands.
There was only one thing for Kelsey to do: Walk the starving foal 9 miles back to her home.
The fact that this dying horse even survived the long journey back to Kelsey’s home was a true miracle, but it couldn’t compare to what came next.
The kind-hearted teenager learned how to care for the foal she named Sunny and convinced her mom to let her join the family. Today, the teenager and her miracle horse are completely inseperable – and Sunny is healthier and stronger than ever before.
The world needs more people like this loving girl, who went above and beyond to put her life on hold and save an animal in need.
As it turned out, Kelsey needed Sunny in her life just as badly as she needed a hero.

Personally, I know I couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket. My voice makes birds flee and sends cats running for cover.
However, we found a few animals who have a better ear than the average human. Their owner and trainer taught the dogs to recognize a musical note and play the note back to her for a sweet treat.
We like to call it Pavlov’s piano:
You might remember Pavlov, the psychology researcher who trained dogs to salivate for sweets back in the day. Pavlov’s dog received a treat every time he (or she) rang a bell on the wall. Over time, the dog learned to ring the bell for food and even salivated in expectation of that treat.
Pavlov’s experiment is one you already understand if you’ve ever driven past a Red Lobster. You can’t go past it without drooling on the steering wheel just a little.
Much like those drooling dogs (and you too), these dogs were trained to have a unique technique. They even play together at one point. While I’m not one to criticize talent, we have to admit that as adorable as the pooches may be, they don’t compose very good songs. You certainly can’t dance to any of their songs.
It’s rather impressive, however, coming from an animal that doesn’t have any thumbs:
Apple MIGHT be removing the headphone jack on the newest iPhone, so the world is probably going to end.
We have all been down this road before. Remember when Apple changed the size of their chargers when they came out with the iPhone 5 in 2013? The previous chargers were compatible with both our iPhones and our iPods, however, the tech giant discontinued the old charging unit and came out with the new and improved one dubbed the Lightning connector.
At first, we simultaneously lost our cool.
But then we all collectively took a deep breath, realized it wasn’t the end of the world, bought ourselves, our parents, and our kids the new model for Christmas, and adapted as us homo sapiens tend to do.
Well, folks, change might be upon us yet again. According to Japanese blog Macotakara, Apple will be getting rid of the 3.5 mm headphone jack that has been standard on iPhones and other devices for years.
Instead, users who would like to listen to music can plug in a pair of headphones through the Lightning connector. The phone is also compatible with Bluetooth wireless headphones, which have become increasingly more popular over the years.
The move is said to make the phone thinner. All this information has not yet been confirmed, however Macotakara says that it comes from a reliable source. We’re inclined to believe Macotakara because they have been accurate in the past. Most recently, they correctly predicted the iPhone 6 would come in a 4.7-inch version and 5.5-inch 6 Plus variant.
Apple has been setting the industry standard for years so if this information proves to be true, 2016 void of headphone jacks.
And you thought the future was looking bleak, didn’t you?
Dogs are known for being trusty companions that will never leave your side, which is exactly why this man’s reason for getting rid of his dog is so shocking.
When a middle-aged man brought his white and black Blue Heeler and Irish Setter mix to the Montgomery County Animal Shelter he had a laundry list of reasons why he wanted to abandon his dog. However, one in particular stood out to the shelter’s staff as being completely absurd.
Everyone was shocked by the man’s claim that he didn’t want Jubilee anymore because ‘she always wants to be by my side.’
A woman named Samantha heard about the affectionate dog, and the very next day she became Jubilee’s new mom. “It touched me. She loved so much,” Samantha said. “I knew I was supposed to have her.”
Jubilee’s story is proof that everything happens for a reason. Despite having a rough start, she is now part of a loving family that will do whatever it takes to make sure she is happy and healthy.

Roscoe is a happy-go-lucky Pit Bull puppy, whose front legs couldn’t keep up with his bouncy personality.
When he arrived at Ashland Humane Society in North Carolina, it was discovered he had suffered a very serious wrist and ligament deformity that made walking and playing almost impossible.
With the help of many donations, Roscoe was able to receive $4,000 to pay for his major surgery where he received “new legs!”
Following his procedure, he had on-going physical therapy, and was slowly able to regain his strength.
A loving family happily adopted Roscoe, and he now lives with his best doggie friend and a family that will try their very best to keep up with him.

It’s easy to see why the following sweet video is going viral, despite the poor visual quality. If you’re a pooch parent, then you already know that the nickname “man’s best friend” couldn’t be more well deserved.
As you can see in this sweet story of a pup who became the newest family member’s biggest protector, dogs love their humans unconditionally and ask for nothing else in return.
In the video below, we see how unlike humans, a dog’s love for his or her best friend doesn’t fade over time.
Posted to YouTube by Lazy Owly, we see a big old pup meeting his long lost owner at the airport. Unfortunately, we don’t have much backstory about this sweet reunion, but we do know that it has been three long years since he’s seen his canine companion.
And maybe that’s all we need to know! This is one beautiful video that truly speaks for itself. As soon as the man puts his bags down, you can see how the dog lights up and instantly remembers him.

Every year, Santa Claus gets sent letters from kids around the world to thank him for presents last year, let him know what they want this year, and sometimes apologize for being naughty.
Beyond that, those letters to Santa also give a very candid look at the hysterical, and sometimes bizarre minds of children. Take a look at these hysterical kids who get very honest in their letters to Santa.
