Soldier Gives The Dog Who Took 4 Bullets To Save His Life A New Beginning

Time and time again, dogs prove themselves to be one of the most dedicated, and loyal animals you could ever have as a companion, and this U.S. military combat dog named Layka is another perfect example.

While serving in Afghanistan, Layka was shot four times at point-blank range, yet still managed to protect her human soldiers by subduing the shooter. Her act of courage saved every member of that team.

In order to survive, Layka had to endured a seven hour surgery to remove the bullets, and amputate her front right leg. Her handler, Staff Sgt. Julian McDonald knew he owed Layka for saving his life, and had to adopt her as part of his family.

“I owed this dog every moment that I have from here on out… I felt really bad because I was the one that put her in the building. Then happy at the same time because I was still alive and my buddies to my left and my right were also still alive,” Julian explained. “If the dog has put in the time for the country, then the country owes it to them to put the time into them.”

Despite warnings that Layka was too aggressive to be a family dog, Julian still fought to make it work. Julian believed that even though Layka had done scary things, she wasn’t a viscous animal, and she still deserved a good home. And when Julian first brought Layka home, she proved him right.

“She went right up to Liam and submitted, and laid right on her back. My one-year-old son walked right over there and got on top of her chest, grabbed her ears, put his thumb in her nose, and his hand in her mouth and she wasn’t doing anything. She was just laying there and taking every bit,” Julian said.

Homeless Woman Brought To Tears After Stranger’s Incredible Act Of Kindness

When a homeless woman wandered into Raising Cane’s, a fast-food chain known for their chicken fingers and began quietly asking customers if she could eat any of their leftovers, everyone ignored her as if she didn’t exist. Thankfully, a kindhearted customer named Carmen Mendez took notice and planned to do something about it.

Carmen decided that if she saw the woman again before she and her boyfriend left the restaurant, she’d give her her leftover food. “As I was gonna throw away my one leftover chicken strip and like five fries, I heard a very quiet voice ask me if I had anything left. I turned around and it was her,” Carmen wrote in a Facebook post.Yet, even after giving the stranger her leftovers, something still didn’t feel right.

“A couple of days ago, we went to eat late at night at Raising Cane’s, and as we waited for our order, I saw this homeless lady walk in asking people that were throwing away their leftovers if she could have them. Not one person said yes, they all ignored her and threw it away, it broke my heart. I have been volunteering with the homeless now for many years… they don’t repulse me or make me sick to my stomach. I hold them all with so much love.”

“I gave her my food and watched her sit and eat it… but something didn’t feel right. I felt like a horrible human being feeding her my leftover chicken strip… she deserved so much more… so I bought her a whole meal… she deserved to eat a hot meal.”

“When I ordered the meal, I asked the employee for a huge favor to please do not kick her out as we waited. I could already see the disgust on people’s faces as she sat at the table eating the leftovers I had given her… news flash, people, not all homeless people smell like roses.”

“She was getting ready to get up and leave when I surprised her with this meal… the look on her face said it all. I have never felt something like this… pure, real gratitude.

“That hug she gave me was like a hug I had never felt… those tears she shed were felt deep in my heart. I held her tight and let her let it out. I wasn’t repulsed by it. I just held her. And that is a moment I will never ever forget. So next time you judge a homeless person, think twice… not all of them are homeless because of a drug addiction or because they are lazy.”

Watch How This Loyal Dog Protects Mom’s Pregnant Belly

This loyal pet named Tebow gives new meaning to the phrase ‘guard dog.’

This pregnant woman’s boyfriend had a friend film Tebow every time he went to touch his pregnant girlfriend’s belly

The friend says, Tebow, a pit bull-boxer mix, “has become extremely protective of the yet to be delivered bundle of joy,” and noted that the dog hasn’t been trained to watch over the unborn.

In the video, whenever he goes to touch her, Tebow freaks out and makes him back away.

It’s shocking to witness, but it’s sweet to see how bad he wants to look after her.

It appears this behavior isn’t uncommon, and dogs are very attuned to their owners and know how they act, so when someone becomes pregnant they begin to notice various changes in the person’s body language and the way other people are treating them.

Because of this, dogs tend to be more alert and protective, even barking at other family members, including the baby’s father.

The friend and YouTube uploader writes, “And before the crazy kids get involved, the dog is not vicious and is not a danger to anyone. He simply has decided no one should be messing with that belly!”

Ferret Shows Us The Importance Of Preparation…But It Isn’t Everything

He had a dream and he went ferret!

This little guy just showed us the importance of dreaming big. He was one furry fluff ball that knows the importance of determination.

In the words of Yoda, “do or do not, there is no try.” Unfortunately, this guy tried hard, but in the end he did not do. He took all the right steps but made one vital mistake.

The ferret took all the required causes as outlined in the unwritten handbook for ferrets who would like to jump to the ledge (it’s a thing, I swear). He measured the distance between here and there (a fairly inaccurate way of measuring things). He groomed himself, wrapped a glowstick around his belly (something the poster of the video Marek Riha, said the ferret did to himself). He even stood up and got back down the necessary twenty-seven times, as required.

However, he made one serious mistake. The handbook this ferret read was for cats that want to jump to the ledge. It’s a common mistake one could easily make. I mean, they look so similar, right? Sometimes we see cats reading the jumping ferret handbook by mistake.

These are typically the results:

This Big Dog Will Do Anything To Get Out Of Bath Time

If you’re a pet parent, here’s a hilarious scenario that might just be all-too-familiar in your house…

I don’t know about you, but there’s not much I enjoy more than a relaxing, hot shower or bath. There’s no denying that you’re cleansing yourself of a lot more than just a day’s worth of  sweat, grime, and elements. Nothing can revive the soul and make you feel like a million bucks like 15 minutes of alone time under the faucet can.

So why is it that man’s best friend often feels just the opposite?!

[Source: GIPHY]

Sure, there are some calm and cool canines out there who love to be pampered, but it seems like the majority of pets are scared stiff of bath time, just like the ones in this hilarious compilation.

In the video below, which was posted to Rumble by Tara327, we see one giant dog, who seems to turn into a tiny, scared pup as soon as he hears running water.

Just like this hilarious hound, poor Harvey is so afraid of the tub that he refuses to even go near the bathroom!

[Source: GIPHY]

Dogs seem to have a keen sense of when it’s time for a good scrubbing and Harvey is no different. This hilarious dog can’t help but protest his bath in the most dramatic way, that you almost feel bad for the big guy.

However, if his mom is struggling this much to get Harvey clean, I’m sure it’s absolutely necessary for everyone in the house.

Can you relate to this dog’s hysterical protest?

After living and working in Slovenia for two years, Rebecca Ehalt returned home to Pennsylvania to reunite with her family and her schnauzer named Casey.

A touching video was filmed of Rebecca’s arrival, and it shows her being greeted by the adorable dog, Casey.

Casey lets out a lot of high-pitched whimpers before passing out “from overwhelming joy,” as Rebecca describes.

Not only is Casey’s reaction insanely adorable, but it’s also totally understandable since Rebecca’s two-year absence is over a decade in dog years.

Even though this video isn’t new, (from 2014 to be exact), it still warms our hearts, especially during the holiday season.

Watch the sweet reunion below:

Update: After taking Casey to the vet to make sure this was normal behavior, the vet determined Casey was totally fine.

It was thanksgiving morning, and the Bingham family woke up to a foot of snow in their yard.

“It was exciting and the kids ran right out the front door to play in it,” Branden Bingham said.

“But about 30 seconds into the fun my son stumbled over what appeared to be a frozen, lifeless kitten.”

Branden’s younger brother quickly came over to inspect the kitten, whose body appeared to be frozen and limp.

He immediately grabbed the little one and and ran inside the house to sit by the fireplace.

101-Year-Old Grandma’s Snow Day Detour Goes Viral

Albina Foisy

“When you have a mother who’s a hundred-and-one years old, it helps to keep the camera nearby for those special moments.”

These are the words YouTube user Armand Foisy speaks of his mother, Albina, who recently went viral. The woman may be over a century old, but she’s still easily surprised by the simple things in life.

Take for example, they day her and her son were driving on the road on a rainy day. She noticed the weather had changed slowly from rain to snow. Her son stopped the car as they rounded a turn on the slippery roads, and the next thing he knew, she had unbuckled her seatbelt and wandered out of the car.

Why? To play in the snow, of course. This jolly old woman hopped out (well, not quite a hop), rolled up a snow ball, and played in amazing fluffy white stuff.

She reminds us a little bit of this happy cat playing in some snow:

We also see similarities with this cat:

And possibly even a few things in common with this cat:

“It’s fun to play in the snow,” she tells her son, who was fortunately filming the whole thing.

It’s also good to see people enjoying life like this. You can’t watch this video and not chuckle at how this woman gets such a kick out of a snowball.

Just try holding in your laughter while you watch this video:

The video even appeared on a local news channel. Her reaction to seeing herself on television was priceless:

“It’s the pure joy and excitement in Albina’s that has people responding really positively to this video,” the newscaster says as Albina sits there with a look of pure joy and excitement plastered to her face.

People might think that business men don’t have hearts, but an LA business man proved his deep pockets could be used for good when he saw a group of 400 U.S. soldiers sitting on the ground of an airport.

Schlomo Rechnitz was on layover at Ireland’s international airport when he saw a group of soldier eating standard army food, as all the other civilians in the terminal ate delicious food in trendy restaurants. Rechnitz felt uncomfortable with this site, and decided to do something about it.

After asking the soldiers’ commander if he could give something extra, he offered the group his appreciation and about $50 per meal for every single soldier.

Rechnitz sat in the airport and saw about 400 U.S. soldiers sitting on the ground eating out of paper bags, while civilians ate at fancy restaurants.

Cats aren’t typically known for being the most affectionate pets. In fact, they can often be very distant and sometimes temperamental. When Larry the cat met this little boy, however, he proved that cats can be just as loving as any dog.

Larry the ginger cat was given up after his owner found him breaking into the food cabinet one too many times, but soon after he was adopted by a woman named Michelle. Once her son Abel came along, Larry fell in love with the tiny human instantly, and became the perfect big brother and four-legged guardian.

Originally, Larry belonged to a vet, but was given away after he was repeatedly caught sneaking into the food cupboard.

That’s when Abel’s mom Michelle decided to step in. “I had always wanted an orange cat so when a friend’s vet needed to get rid of 2 year old Larry for breaking into their food supply cabinet, I didn’t hesitate to adopt him,” she said.

UCLA fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon have developed a beautiful friendship with a young cancer patient named Lexi.

12-year-old Lexi Brown has a sarcoma, and when the cancer recently spread to her lungs she was airlifted to the Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA in California.

The hospital sits directly across from the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity house, and it was a sign in Lexi’s window that led the fraternity brothers to her.

One day, to pass the time, Lexi’s mom posted a note in her hospital window asking for a pizza delivery.

When the brothers saw Lexi’s delicious request, they decided to walk over with a pizza.

Not only did they bring pizza, but they also brought a bouquet of roses and a guitar.

For 30 minutes, the frat brothers serenaded Lexi as she lay in her hospital bed, and a beautiful friendship began to form.

The brothers began visiting Lexi on a regular basis, and some nights, the hospital would break its visitation rules to allow them to stay with Lexi until midnight.

They brought gifts, played games, and they developed an incredible bond.

One night, Lexi looked outside her window to receive the best surprise of all.

Every year, the fraternity decorates the SAE frat house for the holidays, and this year, the brothers surprised Lexi by putting her name in lights on the roof of the house. They added purple lights, and a flashing, beating heart.

When Lexi looked out the window, she was beaming with joy.

The fraternity now considers Lexi and her parents part of their family, and SAE members from across the country are now donating money to help Lexi’s family pay her medical bills.

Lexi is back home fighting her battle with cancer, but the brothers plan to keep the lights hung through the holiday season.

Surprises under the Christmas tree don’t get any better than this!

Let’s face it, kids can come up with some pretty crazy wish lists for Santa. As you can see on this hilarious list of letters to the man with the bag, some little ones have no problem asking for exactly what they want. While, it never hurts to ask, the chances of getting that rocket ship or pet pony, aren’t always so great…and you can say the same thing about any new addition to the family.

That’s exactly why Courtney Solstad and her husband, Steve, decided to give their three young daughters the shock of a lifetime with an early Christmas gift under the tree they never saw coming.

The Solstad girls knew their parents wanted to adopt a child, but according to Mom, they had no idea how soon their family of five would be growing.

In the video Courtney posted on Facebook, she wrote “The girls knew nothing about Nathan until this. We met them at the door and told them that we had been out Christmas shopping and got them a gift to share…and it was under the tree!”

When the girls rushed to the tree, they were almost at a loss for words over their new baby brother, Nathan.

As you can imagine, their reactions were beyond heartwarming. While one excited sister can be heard hilariously saying “I’m gonna wet my pants,” the other two were brought to tears or instantly jumped for joy when they saw the incredible surprise.

Chloe Solstad wrote on the Christmas wish list above that she wanted her “mom and dad to have the baby they desire”.

Baby Nathan might just be a few weeks old, but it’s clear he’s already been blessed with the most loving family.

Are you ready for an overload of adorable?

Here’s a video that’s guaranteed to put a smile on your face! Just like the other kind of little kid, baby goats apparently like to copy their pet parents in the cutest ways.

[Source: GIPHY]

Jennifer Pratzer posted the video below, in which a black and white pygmy goat learns to hop across the kitchen, but only after she’s shown the way by a human friend.

“Baby Johnnies mom won’t feed him and his sibling died.” Pratzer wrote on YouTube.

It sounds like the tiny pygmy has had a rough start in life, but things are looking up for the little guy and his new family. After being rejected by his mother, Pratzer wrote she and her family began bottle feeding and spending as much time as possible with the sweet newborn.

[Source: GIPHY]

At first glance, I was convinced this cutie was a tiny puppy…

And after watching the video, I think he might even believe it! The way Johnnie hops around the kitchen reminds me so much of a canine companion, and even though he’s just as hilarious as these goats who have fun jumping around the farm, he seems like he’s doing well in his new home.

However, we found a few animals who have a better ear than the average human. Their owner and trainer taught the dogs to recognize a musical note and play the note back to her for a sweet treat.

You might remember Pavlov, the psychology researcher who trained dogs to salivate for sweets back in the day. Pavlov’s dog received a treat every time he (or she) rang a bell on the wall. Over time, the dog learned to ring the bell for food and even salivated in expectation of that treat.

Pavlov’s experiment is one you already understand if you’ve ever driven past a Red Lobster. You can’t go past it without drooling on the steering wheel just a little.

Much like those drooling dogs (and you too), these dogs were trained to have a unique technique. They even play together at one point. While I’m not one to criticize talent, we have to admit that as adorable as the pooches may be, they don’t compose very good songs. You certainly can’t dance to any of their songs.

It’s rather impressive, however, coming from an animal that doesn’t have any thumbs:
