That monumental moment in our baby’s life when they learn how to crawl…

By a Jack Russell Terrier!

This little boy was very lucky to get crawling lessons from none other than the family’s Jack Russell Terrier, who demonstrated the crawling technique by placing his paws firmly on the floor, and pulling himself across the carpet.

Can you imagine your dog teaching your baby how to crawl?

I can’t possibly think of anything cuter.

It makes sense though, because dog’s know best when it comes to getting around on all-fours.

Why You Should Move Outside Your Comfort Zone

Being completely alone is liberating

Sitting in a coffee shop alone in your city is scary. Sitting in a coffee shop alone in an unknown city is bliss. Nobody knows your story and nobody cares. There’s nothing more liberating than the feeling of potential.

There isn’t any chance of running into a friend or acquaintance and nobody knows why you are there. Having the liberty of being alone is gratifying. Sure, you might sit there and feel lonely as you watch others connect with friends, but you’ll have your own people to connect with in due time. Meanwhile, you have the chance to watch from a distance and observe life as it happens around you.

Immersing yourself in a new culture is fun

When you live in the same region your whole life, you assume everybody is the same way. Every one has similar political views and dresses the same as you. When you leave that bubble, you realize how we vary. People dress differently than you’re used to and they have beliefs that you consider foreign.

When you take note of the variations in culture, even if they’re very slight, it’s unexpected to see the ways we are all the same and the odd ways in which we’re different. Some people say soda, and others say pop. Everybody uses Facebook, but not everybody uses Tinder. Living in one bubble means believing some things are inherently true, but when you move to another region, you learn about a new lens with which to view the world.

It feels good to step back and say, “I never thought about it that way.” Stepping into somebody else’s bubble allows you to see the micro-changes in culture and recognize the other ways in which the world works.

Overcoming the challenge of isolation feels good

Moving to a new environment is challenging, especially when you don’t know anybody. It forces you to be alone for a few nights and possibly even a few weeks. Suddenly, you find yourself joining every group exercise class at the gym and saying hello to strangers solely so you’ll have somebody with whom you can connect.

It’s these moments that are defining though. Seeing how you act when you are alone is scary yet rewarding. Overcoming the challenges of loneliness feels satisfying and being able to sit with yourself is a good feeling. It makes you a better version of you.

You’re Going To Love This Elephant Trying To Wake A Dog

Have you ever been trying to sleep while somebody annoyingly brushes a feather on your cheek?

Just the thought of it makes me cringe. Now replace yourself with a dog and instead of using a feather, imagine an elephant trunk. That’s what happened in the latest and cutest viral video making its rounds online.

The video was posted by Mister Zaco, who said, “the baby elephant was very curious and determined to play with this doggy.” Basically, the elephant was a little kid on Saturday morning, while the dog was the cranky Dad that just wants to sleep.

It’s a roller coaster of emotion as the elephant, a human, and a rooster all attempt to wake the dosing dog:

If you’ve never heard of the new tiny home movement sweeping the country- and world- it’s time you got with the program.

While everyone has their own reasons for making the switch to a tiny home, people around the world are attracted to having more freedom both physically and financially, and lessening the impact on the environment.

However, downsizing to a home that is only a couple hundred square feet (the typical American home is about 2600 square feet) takes some serious life-style changes. But it doesn’t have to be as terrible as it sounds.

For example, this three-floor tiny home in Bali, called the White Elephant sits on a half-acre of land and is only 750 square feet. It’s airy design was intended to coexist with and highlight the natural surroundings.

The White Elephant was modeled after a lumbungwhich is a traditional Balinese barn.

Because of the tropical climate, the space is still comfortable even with the open floor-plan with most of the rooms being partially outside.

The half-bath is the only room in the house that is fully enclosed.

Yes, that means even the bathtub is completely open. It sits just on the side of the deck, and featured curtains to provide a little privacy.

The outside deck has French windows and opens up to a garden.

The protected deck has a large day bed, which is perfect for lounging in the afternoon and early evening as the fireflies emerge.

The incredible airy feel of the White Elephant is achieved through the high vaulted ceilings made of alang-alang, a type of grass that’s also called Japanese blood grass.

“On moonlit nights there is nothing more evocative than lying in the elegantly-dressed king bed looking out the stunning glass wall to the moon as it hovers languidly behind the jungle and towering palms.”

The king-sized bed is fitted with fresh white linen sheets and is overlooked by traditional Balinese carved bidadari angles.

The third level, while small, looks over the bed and has incredible views of the area’s luscious vegetation. The cozy spot is perfect for reading or meditating.

While the world watched on the big screen as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie fell in love in the 2004 hit Mr. and Mrs. Smiththese two were originally tight-lipped about their relationship. 10 years, six kids, and one year of marriage later, the couple has found multiple occasions to open up about what makes their love and marriage work.

Take a look at these 10 incredible quotes on love by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Pitt.

10. “The children certainly tie us together, but a relationship won’t hold if it’s only about the kids. You also must be really interested in each other and have a really, really wonderful, exciting time together. We do. Brad and I love being together. We enjoy it. We need it, and we always find that special time.” – Angelina Jolie

9. “There are no secrets at our house. We tell the kids, ‘Mom and Dad are going off to kiss.’ They go, ‘Eww, gross!’ But we demand it.”– Brad Pitt

8. “I’m still a bad girl. I still have that side of me. It’s just in its place now. It belongs to Brad—or our adventures.” – Angelina Jolie

7. “I’m satisfied with making true choices and finding the woman I love, Angie, and building a family that I love so much. A family is a risky venture, because the greater the love, the greater the loss. That’s the trade-off. But I’ll take it all.” – Brad Pitt

6. “We both have been married before, and it’s very easy to get married, but it’s not easy to build a family and be parents together. Maybe we’ve done it backwards, but we certainly feel married.” – Angelina Jolie

5. “I am very lucky with Brad. He is a real gentleman, but he is also a real man’s man. He’s got the wonderful balance of being an extraordinary, great, loving father, a very, very intelligent man and physically he’s a real man.” – Angelina Jolie

4. “We spent a lot of time contemplating and thinking and talking about what we both wanted in life and realized that we wanted very, very similar things. And then we just continued to take time. We remained very, very good friends—with this realization—for a long time. And then life developed in a way where we could be together, where it felt like something we would do, we should do.” – Angelina Jolie

3. “You get together and you’re two individuals and you feel inspired by each other, you challenge each other, you complement each other, drive each other beautifully crazy. After all these years, we have history—and when you have history with somebody, you’re friends in such a very real, deep way that there’s such a comfort, and an ease, and a deep love that comes from having been through quite a lot together.” –Angelina Jolie

2. “One of the greatest, smartest things I ever did was give my kids Angie as their mom. She’s such a great mom. Oh, man, I’m so happy to have her. With a partner like Angie, I know that when I’m working, the kids are happy, safe, and prospering. And when Angie’s working, she knows she has the same.” – Brad Pitt

1. “Brad has expanded my life in ways I never imagined. We built a family. He is not just the love of my life, he is my family. I hold that very dear. I suppose what I’ve learned from Brad is to be able to have the kind of family whose happiness and well-being comes before your own.” – Angelina Jolie

Two Ducklings Accidentally Mistake a Dog For Their Mother

Youtube- Sparked

Due to imprinting, these two ducklings believe that George the dog is their mother.

Imprinting is when a young animal comes to recognize that another animal, person, or thing is a parent or an object of habitual trust.

And these ducklings named Rockhopper and Peanut first latched on to George when George’s family took them in.

George was the first thing the ducklings saw, leading them to believe that George is their mother!

And not only that, but the adorable ducklings also believe that they too are dogs!

As you will see in the video below, they follow George around everywhere he goes.

If he stops, they stop. If he sits, they sit. If he runs, they run.

It is absolutely hysterical to watch. And the funniest part (as if it isn’t funny enough) is listening to these ducklings waddle around on the concrete. That, and George’s annoyed face:

You’ll Never Believe What This Couple Found During a Kitchen Renovation

Home renovations are rarely pleasant, especially on an old house. Anything from faulty electrical wiring, foundation issues, or even pest infestations can be revealed when you start knocking down wall and tearing up floors.

Lucky for this couple, instead of finding headaches, they found treasure.

The Arizona couple had been in the house, which had at least 6 previous owners, for two years, and were finally getting around to redoing the kitchen. In an attempt to save money, the couple decided to renovate the room themselves. When they tore down the kitchen island, they found a mysterious safe under the floor.

When the couple first moved in, they found a safe code in the back of a medicine cabinet. They never found a safe, but kept the code just in case.

After a half dozen attempts, the code finally worked, and the couple found stacks of old money, a bottle of bourbon, and a book holding notes and mysterious clues.

The bourbon was a rare 1960 bottle of James E. Pepper, and the tax stamp reads aged six years.

The safe contained stacks of neatly tide old bills, including rare $2 bills that were discontinued in 1966, and totaled a staggering $51,080.

Along with the money and bourbon, the couple also found a copy of A Guide for the Perplexed by E.F. Schumacher that held cryptic clues like underlined passages, and a map with an ‘x’ mark over Mesa, AZ.

Motivation Monday: 5 Tips to Make This Monday Your Best Yet

Would you believe me if I told you that it’s possible to look forward to Monday? Yes you read that correct. With a little tweaking, the worst day of the week can become a day you actually look forward to because Monday doesn’t have to mean stress, misery, and monotony.

Take a look at these 5 tips that will help you have the best Monday ever.

5. Get up early.

Waking up may seem like the last thing you want to do come Monday morning, but waking up earlier than normal is one of my favorite ways to start my Monday on a positive note. Not only does it give you more time to get ready, which helps ease you into the week, but it also gives you time to add a few things to your routine. Instead of jumping out of bed and running out the door, you’ll actually have time to sit down and have a proper breakfast, and even do a round of stretching.

4. Make plans after work.

It’s easy to get into the routine of going to work, going home, and getting ready for bed, but the problem with that is the whole day revolves around the work day. It’s no surprise that we hate Mondays so much, when we fall into that kind of pattern, but instead of wasting all the hours outside of 9-5, you can use that time to hang out with friends, go to happy-hour, or even go to a new exercise class you’ve been wanting to try.

When you make plans to do something after work, it gives you something to look forward to, and also reminds you that you don’t have to wait until the weekend to have fun.

3. Wear something new.

Wearing something new, or something a little more dressy, will help you feel more confident on the day you most likely feel the most sluggish and overwhelmed. Dressing well helps you feel prepared for the day, and prepared to handle any obstacle that may come your way.

2. Plan a real meal for lunch.

Instead of taking 5 minutes to eat a yogurt or muffin at your desk, actually use your lunch break to get outside of the office and eating a real meal. Your work isn’t going anywhere, and while you think you’re getting more done this way, you may actually be making that mid-afternoon slump worse. Try out that new cafe around the block, or pack yourself a delicious meal and spend some time eating in the sunshine. Spending lunch out of the office will help break up the day, and will give you enough energy to get through the hardest part of the day.

1. Prioritize your to-do list.

It’s easy to overwhelm yourself when you have a mountain of work ahead of you, an inbox full of email to respond to, and countless errands to run. Instead of trying to get all of it done on Monday, prioritize your list by deciding what needs to get done immediately and what can be done later. When you have a smaller to-do list, everything will seem more manageable, and you’ll spend less time freaking out, and more time getting things done.

Did these 5 tips help you have the best Monday yet? Let us know in the comments below.

Why Does This Raccoon Want His Brother Out Of The Pool?

Raccoons are known for being sneaky, little bandits, but this one is taking it too far.

Youtube channel Vicki Coppen posted this video of two brothers going for a little dip (well, just one. The other was just a bystander). While we here at Life Daily don’t know the context of the video (nor the complex inner thought process of two raccoons) we imagine one raccoon is the good kid, while the other is the mischievous older brother. Here’s what we imagine happened.

They jumped the fence looking for a lost baseball, but one of them ended up in the pool:

6 Red Flags You’re Dating A ‘Women Collector’

$

Some people collect stamps, other’s collect coins: this one collects you.

He probably took you out on a date and swept you off your feet. He wasn’t a perfect gentleman, actually he was probably far from it, but you feel like you could just let yourself fall for him. He’s dangerous, exciting, and comforting all rolled into one attractive man.

Unfortunately, he’s probably done this before and he knows exactly what you want to hear. If he has any of the following traits, I suggest you run, don’t walk to the nearest exit. He’s likely a collector of women and he’s going to try to put you on one of his many shelves.

1. He comes on strong and fast.

Chances are you met this guy in a place you weren’t expecting to meet him. He didn’t try to pick you up in a bar or hit you up on Tinder, he simply walked up to you at work and made small talk. He connected with you intimately, simply with his gaze. It’s like the world fell to the wayside and you were the only thing in his world (along with the butterflies swimming in your stomach).

He was into you from the second he laid eyes on you and wasted no time asking you out. You were surprised by how quickly it happened and said yes partly because of your surprise, but mostly because of his confidence.

Unfortunately, he’s been around the block a time or two and he knows exactly how to use the tactics of shock and awe (which also happens to be a strategy employed by the U.S. military). Don’t be fooled. While he’s sweeping you off your feet, he’s got at least three other girls in line, waiting for a ride on his broomstick.

2. His honesty is equally shocking.

Men who collect women are pros with their prose. He will open up to you intimately. His honestly will fool you into believing he feels a connection with you, and honestly, he probably does feel something for you. He also feels a connection for her, and her, and her, and also her.

Men that collect women are good with them because they know how to be genuine in the moment and they’ve had tons of experience perfecting that feeling. They are skilled at reading people and might even have a career that allows them to use that skill (think about a salesman reading the body language of his client). He knows how to create a demand so strong, he doesn’t even have to sell it.

3. He sets standards for you.

One of the beautiful tactics a collector of women will use is setting standards. He takes note of things about you and gives you a twisted compliment. For example, he’ll say, “you have red hair. I’m a sucker for girls with red hair.”

Now before you go flipping your hair, notice how he didn’t say he liked you, he just likes all girls with red hair. He sets the bar for you, and you meet it–for now. When he raises the bar later, you’ll find yourself doing backwards pullups trying to meet it. After all, if you were once so aligned with his standards, why aren’t you meeting them now?

Men that collect women do this because they like the control. When he says, “jump,” he wants you asking, “how high?” That way, he always has you exactly where he wants you: atop his shelf with all his other collector’s edition trophies.

4. He’s intelligent and well-read.

Men who know how to collect women also know how to read people and adjust. He probably has some kind of deep, artsy perspective of the world. Maybe he’s majoring in philosophy or identifies as a male feminist. Whatever the case may be, you feel drawn to him and intimidated by him.

Chances are, he is actually intelligent, which makes him somebody worth being around. However, he also uses it to make you feel inferior. He purposely intimidates you and then acts surprised that you feel self-conscious around him. His mercurial attitude throws you for a loop while simultaneously drawing you in.

5. He warns you that you should stay away from him.

I’ve noticed in my life that when people say they’re only going to hurt me, they are always right. The irony of the situation is that he uses this “transparency” to lure you in. He lays down the gauntlet from the start, informing you that he has a tendency to break hearts.

If he tells you to run, he’s presenting a challenge while remaining a good guy. After all, when he stomps on your heart in a few months, you won’t be able to say you didn’t see this coming.

6. He triangulates you.

This is a personal favorite of men that collect women. The skill is a classic that works every time. He’ll mention that he dates multiple women at the same time. It’s all part of his cultured, laid back attitude and his desire to experience the world.

At first, he’ll act like you’re the pick of the litter. He admires all your traits, building up your confidence as he calmly tears down other women. But then something will change and he’ll begin to place them on a pedestal that you can’t quite reach. You’ll begin to feel a slight need to compete for his attention and you find yourself hating her, even though you don’t even know her.

Guess what? She feels the same way about you. He’ll pit his options against each other and have you fight for his attention. It makes him feel important and desirable. You’ll never win this battle, but there is a way to lose. Stick around for a while and you’ll lose yourself in your constant desire to win him over.

Men that collect women can’t be won.

He’ll never give you the attention you deserve and you’ll never feel yourself around him. You’ll always find yourself struggling to be what he wants you to be. The quickest way to lose is to get invested. Run away from this guy. Run far, far away.

8 Reasons You Aren’t Able To Read Enough Books

$
0
0

We’ve all fallen into the trap of saying we were going to read more, or finish a book that we started, and then it just never happened..

Why do we do this to ourselves? We’ve heard it our whole lives: Books make you smarter, reading books are the best thing you can do with your spare time, and learning is the the most important thing.

Yet, time and time again we find ourselves promising that we will do something, and we never do it.

LifeDaily identifies 8 Reasons You Aren’t Able To Read A Lot Of Books:

1. You have become a more social person

Reading a book requires  a lot of solitude and isolation. If you are a social person, being alone for any amount of time might bother you. You tend to gravitate towards more social activities where you are surrounded by family and friends, hence you don’t have any free time to devote to reading.

Solution: If you want to read, start spending more time alone, or set a goal that you and a friend with start reading a book at the same time.

2. You have the wrong perception of books

In school we have been taught most of what we know from reading books, and from listening to our teachers. Therefore, many of us associate reading books with being something we are forced to do, rather than something we want to do.

Solution: Choose one book that you feel you would enjoy- one that pertains to your interests and things that you love, and then see how you feel.

3. You need to unwind in different ways

Maybe you feel a book is too much effort, and you enjoy unwinding by watching a movie or surfing the web. Reading a book can be intellectually challenging, especially when you are trying to understand what the author is trying to convey.

Solution: Read a book similar to the television shows or movies you watch. It might make you feel like you are getting the same entertainment, just in a different form.

4. You pick the wrong books to read

Maybe you took book suggestions from a person that has different taste than you. Or maybe you don’t know what kind books you like yet. Also, it’s easy to be captured by a title, and it’s discouraging when the book doesn’t meet your expectations.

Solution: Know this comes a long with reading. Just like a movie, sometimes you will read something that doesn’t meet your expectations, so it’s best to buy books that you are familiar with and that satisfy your area of interest.

5. You never finish any book you start

A clinical psychologist named Matthew Willhelm distinguishes between two personality types: those who want to feel accomplished after reading a book, and those who do not see enough rewards in reading a book. Usually, these personality types change as we grow (depending on our environment of course), and the  people we surround ourselves with.

Solution: Start hanging around people who like to read, and ask them just how much they get out of it.

6. You are heavily distracted

Perhaps you live in an environment that isn’t too quite, or maybe you have your phone, email, Facebook and Instagram notifications going off constantly.

Solution: For 30 minutes, begin reading with no distractions. What will likely happen is you will be so engaged in the book that you will continue reading for longer.

7. You can’t afford buying books

Your intentions might be to read, but what if you can’t afford buying books, which can be expensive.  Maybe you can only afford a few, and that is as far as you can go.

Solution: Sign up at a library, or buy used books. Libraries now have the option to read the online version, which is very convenient.

8. You haven’t made reading a habit

Reading more books requires mastering it as a habit. When you read more often, it becomes routine for you, and something you will enjoy doing. Don’t get discouraged if it takes you a while, because it takes about two months to program something as a habit.

Solution: If reading is something you want to master, make reading more books a goal. Have a book with you everywhere you go, and with time, reading will become a huge and happy part of your life.

Happy reading!

22 competitors wrestled in 396 gallons of gravy on Monday to claim a zesty prize.

Stacksteads, Lancashire, a village in North Western England, holds a unique match each year. The town hosts a gravy wrestling competition, which is exactly what it sounds like. Competitors take stock of their opponents and are left to stew in the sludge for two minutes, attempting to get in the best moves. The meaty competitor who gets the loudest beefs from the audience is the winner of the event.

The event doesn’t appear to have any monetary prize, but the title of world gravy wrestling champion probably holds more than enough esteem. Additionally, competitors are encouraged to come up with creative costumes, donning everything from a chicken, to a pregnant nun.

It’s an event spectators can really sink their teeth into:

Lehigh University has the cutest Youtube Channel on the internet.

They make clever videos that show professors attempting to understand millenial culture (in one awkward edition, they read their own Rate My Professor comments).

The latest video shows a few professors attempting to understand modern millennial slang. Some of the things they profess are presh. While they are all experts in their own fields, they clearly don’t know a lot about the way we talk.

This professor takes a really good guess at FOMO:

This one was slightly off when she guessed the meaning of “slay”

Holocaust Survivor Explains Why Meaningfulness Means More Than Happiness

Viktor Frankl was arrested and transported to a Nazi concentration camp with his wife and parents in 1942.

At the time, Frankl was a prominent Jewish psychiatrist and neurologist in Vienna, and after being in the concentration camp for three years, he was eventually liberated (although most of his family had sadly died in the camps). Only Frankl and his sister had survived.

After the war he published Man’s Search for Meaning, a book inspired by his experiences in the camps, and one that has helped many people in times of difficulty.

As Frankl saw in the camps, those who found meaning even in the most difficult of circumstances were far more resilient to suffering than those who did not.

In Man’s Search for Meaning, Frankl wrote:

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing- “the last of the human freedoms — to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”

Frankl worked as a therapist in the camps, and in his book he describes two suicidal inmates he encountered there. He says the men were hopeless and thought that there was nothing more to expect from life, and to live for. And this was a common attitude that many others in the camp shared, especially under the horrific circumstances.

Frankl writes:

“In both cases it was a question of getting them to realize that life was still expecting something from them; something in the future was expected of them. For one man, it was his young child, who was then living in a foreign country. For the other, a scientist, it was a series of books that he needed to finish.”

“This uniqueness and singleness which distinguishes each individual and gives a meaning to his existence has a bearing on creative work as much as it does on human love. When the impossibility of replacing a person is realized, it allows the responsibility which a man has for his existence and its continuance to appear in all its magnitude. A man who becomes conscious of the responsibility he bears toward a human being who affectionately waits for him, or to an unfinished work, will never be able to throw away his life. He knows the “why” for his existence, and will be able to bear almost any “how.”

Man’s Search for Meaning was named one of the 10 most influential books in the United States by the Library of Congress and the Book-of-the-Month Club.

“It is a characteristic of the American culture that, again and again, one is commanded and ordered to ‘be happy.’ But happiness cannot be pursued; it must ensue. One must have a reason to ‘be happy.'” – Frankl

Do you agree with Frankl’s thoughts on meaningfulness?

Celebrities are often known for certain striking features and unique traits, but have you ever wondered what two celebrities would look like if their famous faces were blended into one face?

Pedro Berg Johnsen, a graphic designer from Norway, was so fascinated with the idea, that he began blending the faces of some of Hollywood’s most famous mugs.

“I use a bit of Photoshop for final touches and editing, but the actual blending is done in a program called SqirlzMorph,” Johnsen told PetaPixel. “It’s free, and pretty easy to use. As for time, everything between two hours and a couple of days. It depends on image size, what level of detail I’m going for and how invested I am in the project.”

Take a look at Johnsen’s stunning work below:

Dobermans are also known as ‘Velcro dogs.’ They just want to be with their one human. And he has obviously chosen my daughter…We’re really happy with the attention Buddha is getting. People are seeing how sweet and mellow they can be.
