A 26-year-old mother was accidentally shot and killed in Milwaukee Tuesday afternoon by her 2-year-old son due to a tragic mistake.
Patrice Price, a young mother of two, was driving down Highway 175 in her boyfriend’s car, Independent Journal reports. Her boyfriend works as a security guard and had left his loaded gun in the back seat.
Somehow, the toddler who had been sitting in the back, managed to get his hands on the gun.
The Milwaukee police department released a statement to WISN saying:
“Initial witness accounts indicate that a child in the back seat of the vehicle got a hold of a gun and discharged the firearm, sending a single bullet into the driver’s back.”
Price was killed immediately. When police arrived, they found the child unharmed and still holding the weapon in the back seat. Price’s 1-year-old daughter was sitting in the front seat of the car, according to a local Milwaukee news station. She too was unharmed.
